Just make sure you get extended warranty for sure. I had the 2022 Sahara unlimited 4xe. Bought May 7 and traded it in two weeks ago when we found out if the battery goes out, your looking at $13,500 just for the battery pack. And it can only be changed by the dealership. As per the dealership if you decide to trade in years down the road they will deduct the 13,500.00 from the trade in value due to they will have to put a new battery pack with full life just to be able to resale it. Don’t get me wrong I loved my Jeep but I can find better things to drop 13,500.00 on. Just sharing info.

Source of this info? My guess is you were listening to the dude at the dealership selling the extended warranties. Do you realize Jeep warrantees the battery pack for 8 years / 100,000 miles??

You have a 8 yr/100,000 mile warranty on the battery as well as the entire hybrid system. Can’t imagine not knowing this when you purchased your 4Xe. It’s on the msrp and in the owners manual/warranty supplement.

My only gripe is plugging the car in after the charging window. Mine is set to 11pm but if I try plugging in at 1130pm, it won’t work unless I go in the system and turn off the schedule. I’m going to try your double plug trick to see if it bypasses that.
Also, does max regeneration use the brakes? I used it coming down a trail to save my brakes. Wondering if that’s a huge plus to the 4xe when off-roading. Some of the trails around me are notorious for burning brakes on the way down.

Brandon, great info. I do have a question. I bought a level 2 32 amp charger off of Amazon for my 4Xe. First day it charged it in 2.5 hours. Next day I plugged it in overnight and when I came out of the garage I could see my final 5th light blinking. Looked inside and it was at 95% saying seven minutes left. I looked at my chargers display and the amps were down to 8 amp. The charger was set for 32 and it is plugged into a 220volt circuit with 40 amp breakers, no fault in sight but just a diminished amperage. Unplugged it and plugged it back in, still said 8 amps but it did finish charging in about 5 minutes. Do you have an idea of what happened? Thanks for your videos and help.

In your opinion is it worth buying a 4xe? Im not sure. Hear some of my concerns. The added cost of the jeep it self. More parts to break. The cost of a level 2 Charger. The added weight to haul around when your not using electric.

Hey Brandon, have you or others had issues when leaving the jeep unused for several days. Ie at and airport, only to come home to it dead and needing a jump? This has happened to me several times. After the jump the check engine light comes on. Next day the jeep is fine, the light goes away.
Edit: this has happened to me at home with it plugged in and fully charged.

The only down side is the cost.. My 2018 Rubicon Unlimited was 46K out the door with two tops and every option.. The same spec in the 4Xe was 70K, That's 24K dollars.. I drive about 5K miles a year.. So based on my daily driving amount, and the cost of gas at 5.00 a gallon, also have a 3in lift and bigger tires, so i get 11mpg on mid grade.. We can say 10mpg.. The fuel tank is 21.5 Gallons, or about 107.50 to fill from dead, that will go about 215 miles.. I do about 23 fill up's a year.. or about 2500.00 a year in gas.. It would take me just under 10 years to make the difference.. That's a LONG time to wait to break even, and after 10 years, who's to say that those 4XE batteries will still be good.. Seems steep to me.. but i guess if you do 15k a year, maybe it's worth it..

Hey Brandon. Great video. Do you think it’s illegal to winch a non-EV or PHEV out of the parking spot that is next to a charger? I cannot tell you how frustrating that is in Colorado where there is one charger in a mountain town and I am counting on getting a charge. Almost did it the other day, felt like dragging this guys car out of the space.

Yep, there’s a name for this in the EV community - it’s called getting ICE’d (Internal Combustion Engine). This is a pretty big problem because a lot of people are morons, or just plain inconsiderate. Case in point, drivers who tailgate, swerve through traffic, and don’t know or follow the rules of the road. Lots of dangerous, horrible drivers all across America.
