My wife and I were riding last week. We had a very old lady and grandson stop us on the trail. He was about to say something negative when Grandma said she would like a quiet bike like ours. We had a great conversation.

Good morning Russ. Last Thursday this older man yelled at me while I was riding on our bike trail, I don't know what he said so I just ignored him. When people yell or get mad at my son, he just gives them a Big Thumbs Up lol and keeps on e-biking. Some people are so rude with swear words, I'm glad you removed their jealous comment. I personally like ur reviews on ur bikes and how you call them like "Wanna Be Pro" lol. Thank You for Making Videos 😎

Enjoyed seeing you ride Twin Lakes. It brought back some precious memories. In my area on some paths there are signs that say, 'No motorized vehicles allowed.' However, ebikes are not considered 'vehicles'. I've been questioned about it by a guy riding a regular bike. We just have to be kind, but it seems like a precious commodity some days.

Strangest encounter I've had yet was a drunk guy on a UTV complaining he couldn't ride on the trail, but I could with a MOTORIZED VEHICLE. I kindly humored him and in 5 minutes we were shaking hands and on our way. I like to defuse confrontation, this is a friendly way. Some people are not interested in having a good day.

Regarding stop signs unless I see law enforcement nearby I just slow down look both ways and go, When I'm on my ebike.

My small city in N Arizona considers all ebikes, bicycles. I see Coleman mini bikes going down main streets, the cops dont care. The Sheriff's probably. I doubt 20 ebikes even exist in my town. Im over 65, most residents are in their 80's. Bike paths and sidewalks are empty here all year long. Im living the dream.

Okay. I cycle on paths often. When I'm approaching people, especially a group of people, I slow down . I know this isn't a requirement but I try to put myself in their shoes. Someone charging by at close quarters can be cause for alarm. I feel the same way about e-bikes. If I'm tooling around on my bicycle and going slow it's not great to have someone blast by on an e-bike. Sure I can live with it but I think slowing down when passing shows maturity. Legal or illegal has nothing to do with it.

Hi Russ, glad to see your numbers are a lot better. As far as the stress that is just the fact that it is not only the food. Like I mention before diabetes is a change of lifestyle and not a eating disorder. It's the cells in your blood that effects the glucose. Even a lot of doctors get that wrong. Keep up the good work and yes I also get these e-bike haters calling you out.

Gas-powered vehicles are usually not allowed on such paths, not ebikes.
Russ, stress itself will cause a rise in your glucose readings. This is caused by a release of hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol. Controlling stress will help reduce these type of spikes. Hopefully your diabetes is under control by watching your food intake and exercise with little or no medication. Thanks for all the great videos and keep on riding.
Hi Russ! Another great video. Apparently, while you're stressed and your cortisol levels rise, it releases stored glucose into your system. That would be the reason you're seeing the jump in your levels.

Ugh, I missed my shot for going out for a ride on Monday. I had too much to do in the garden. Tuesday we had high winds, and Wednesday a thunderstorm and rain. Today it is too cold. My next opportunity won't be until next Thursday.
Nice video, I ride my DYI E-bike here in California a lot. I mostly ride the bike path, never been confronted once, I chit chat with the park rangers and bike path patrol no one ever gives any issues, I have seen signs on the path that said no motorized bike, I asked the park rangers and they said motorized bike are not e-bikes. As long as my bike is classified as class 1 or class 2 I’m fine, I have seen park rangers and bike path patrol pull over mope style bike, surrons, and similar to the one you’re riding because it’s exceding the 15mph speed limit, keep it up like your video
Hi Russ the thing is with these people that don't like e-bike Riders on the trails of sidewalks because number one they don't like e-bikes to begin with I could see them e-bike bashing, and the ones that do open their mouth the ones that they know they're safe to talk to a person that's not threatening somebody like that man if you want some younger person in their twenties that looks kind of wild and threatening he wouldn't say diddly because he feels safe, it has happened to me plenty of times ,they know they can get away opening their mouth I'm from New York a guy like that never say anything in a rough neighborhood, that's just my take on it , good videos Russ thanks

Trolls are just that. I'm not qualified to psychoanalyze other than to say as sad as it is, it's a they problem and not a you problem, at least for the most part. Their main objective is to make someone feel bad about themselves. Attention given to them is acknowledging they got to you in some way. Going back at them makes them happy, if only for a moment.

I do the same as you do at stop signs. Slow down if clear go. If a car coming I stop. The people who say it is illegal clearly do not understand the law on the bike trails. I have not had it happen to me yet. Another great video Russ. Thank you. Also good to hear your health is getting better.

Here in Indy I haven't gotten too much hostility towards me or my ebike. But ebikes here aren't allowed on mountain bike trails in the state parks. but roads and paved paths are generally ok and if they're not there should be signs but Indy seems to be ( for the most part) bike friendly. We have the Monon trail and the greenways, which are nice. Sidewalk riding here is odd, depending on the neighborhood. A lot of spots here have designated bike paths, especially downtown. When in doubt, I just stay on the road. But I see people all the time downtown riding their rental scooters on the sidewalk.
Stop sign sticklers should record themselves driving over a period of time. Coming to a full stop in a car makes the car “bounce” a little, you can see it on video. I’d bet a great many of their stops on empty neighborhood streets are not full stops. I see it everyday walking the dogs, the vast majority don’t fully stop unless another car being there makes them actually stop. When they watch back the video, they should reflect on the glass nature of their house and recognize a bike going 5 mph through an empty intersection isn’t going to hurt anybody.
I would bring copys of the bicycle law statutes for your state, and when someone says it’s illegal , stop and hand them the information without saying anything, then just ride away lol.
More than likely it was a combination of the bread and the stresser. I know my G goes up faster during stressful situations although, I cut out bread almost completely. I make my own 0 or almost 0 carb almond breads satisfies my carb addiction and keeps my A1C at normal levels. Your videos are great. Thanks for your content. 😎 Don't forget to practice every day.

I've used the freestyle Libre 3. Those things are amazing as long as you still check the wild swings with a finger stick.
That a what I am using now. I called my Insurance and the cost is $35 per month for the Dexcom 7 or $75 per month for the Libre 3. Dexcom is a “thicker” device and lasts 10 days whereas the Libre 3 is thinner and lasts 14 days. Either way the insurance will cover 30 days of each device for the price. So you get 2 Libre 3’s or 3 Dexcom 7’s. Not sure what I will do when this one finally stops in a week.
I've been on some walk paths that say no bikes and some that allow both on the same path. People gotta keep their mouths shut.

Your liver converts glucose to storage until needed, when under stress the body uses more energy, so the liver responds by adding glucose to your blood stream to use as extra energy. but no all stresses need more energy so as the liver response to the stress it causes the blood sugar to go up. This will also happen when you are ill, your body will demand more energy to fight the illness so it will respond by adding more glucose to the blood stream, again higher than normal blood sugar readings. Because you are diabetic you see it as you monitor your levels. but this happens to everyone automatically, but most people do not constantly monitor their levels. and people who are not diabetic, the up down responses are quicker so when they check it usually looks normal.

Your glucose levels go up when you are stressed because of the flight, fight reaction. That's how it supplies the body with more energy for that purpose. That is the simplest explanation...
For a good low-glycemic bread, get Ezekiel Bread. I follow a YT'er who does blood glucose tests and he recommends it. You could always get two Costco dogs and forget the buns.

As to speed and stop signs I have seen guys on regular bicycles such as mountain bikes and road bikes on trails riding faster than the e-bikes and I've also seen lots of guys on bicycles run through stop signs
I wish I had saved my extra battery box. I prefer to use velco straps to secure it to my rear rack, bungie cords have to much elasticity for my liking.

Like your videos. I to am a diabetic and use to drink diet coke. However I have recently changed to Sprite zero. I found out that caffeine is bad for diabetes but Sprite zero has none.

I enjoy the commentary as well. I like the pace you ride at. I like how you explained about yielding at stop signs in different states. I didn't know that. I ride all over US and I always feel bad when I just slow down at stop signs without actually stopping. I'll have to research that a little further so I can have a clear conscience when I'm in those states because we all know we are not going to stop and put our feet down at every stop sign! I have similar health issues so I am very interested hearing your take on what you are doing and watching out for. Very interesting. But don't you just hate it when someone says something negative to you when you are riding your bike. It just ruins the day. Like I could see it really bothered you about that encounter with that guy saying that you were illegal on the bike path. I could tell because you kept going back to it. I would have too. I know this so well, that little comment, that little short encounter, will just pop up and eat at you for days after this. Maybe even years. The world is just full of these hurtful episodes and I am not talking about just ebikes but life in general. Some people are so mean and judgmental. But thank goodness there are also many if not more really nice and sincere people in the world to counteract the mean. You just keep making those videos and doing a good and interesting job at it. Despite going by people multiple times on the Erie Canal and foot paths I havent gotten this yet. I sometimes wonder if its because I make a point of peddling as I am coming up to them and I suspect I look like a regular bike rider. I have the Lectric XP 3.0

Have you tried berberine before a carb meal to curb the insulin spikes? I have seen it work great for some people.
I’m told that your liver and kidneys can make glucose out of fat and protein and if you are insulin resistant your insulin doesn’t act properly to shut down this glucose production.
On my last video I was told I belong in jail for riding on the bike path!!! Lol

There's a sport radio station that advertise for a twin peaks sports bar and restaurant about 60 miles from me. I would not worry about people that say something. They got the problem not you. I don't even see anyone when I ride. It's been raining to much to ride. if I am at work it's sun shining. My blood sugar has been up and down the last to weeks. I need to lose 20 more pounds. I have a gym bag with pads for exter battery.
You have more patience them me. I woulda triggered the guy by telling him to mind his own business as I rode off out of his range.
When on public places dont try to make your own rules. It could get you a trip in an ambulance or worse.

Second chargers are usually never given when you order a second battery but you can use the same if the batteries are the same. I have several of course due to the review samples so I am lucky. 😊
Hey Russ, I noticed you keep your gear in the highest gear all the time. This must be a hub-drive ebike and it's @probably convenient for you rather than shifting. On the other hand, if this were a mid-drive bike that wouldn't work. The reason I bring this up is because I plan on getting a mid-drive ebike.

To be honest those moped style fat tire bikes are fairly difdficult to pedal effectively, you can't get a full pedal stroke like you can on a 26" bike so Russ is more than likely using his throtttle 90% of the time

Russ, there is no need to apologize for enjoying Hooters. I recommend that you look into getting a glucose monitor that uses test strips. They are far cheaper than the system you are currently using. You'd need to prick your finger, but it's not really a big deal. BTW There is nothing wrong with e-biking on the cheap.
I have finger prick monitor and strips. I just am not using it now while I have the CGM to use.
@@RussIsRightI just got a CGM myself...I'm prediabetic and started intermittent fasting and keto. Seeing my glucose readings compiled automatically every 5 minutes is extremely helpful and the fact that I can see almost instantaneously how what I eat affects glucose is great...my insurance allows me a three month supply for 75.00 so not that expensive. Worth it and so helpful...hopefully with your cgm you can reverse your diabetes and stay away from insulin and drugs. I recommend a book The Obesity Code and The Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung. Happy riding.

There are people that have put out review videos about the ebike I own along with one "professional" reviewer 2 of them actually bought the bikes and liked them so they put out review videos about them one of which "PapaBlueShirt" has put over 13K miles on the very bike he reviewed

I also like how courteous you are to people when you ride. That is something I try to do as well.

I get it for sure! I have and English bulldog that has spina bifida which means he wears diapers and pants all the time. Yet some lady reported me to the home owners association when I was with my mom in the elevator claiming my dog had peed and popped in the elevator! I confronted the hoa and said show me the video of my dog doing this. As they reviewed it they saw my dog with his diaper on and actually just sitting and waiting through the elevator rides multiple times and never even a leak out of his diaper. I asked them to show the day and time they claimed. When they reviewed it, it showed the same lady that complained taking her dog and having him poop and peed in the elevator and laughing saying she was going to get me thrown out because she hated my dog and my kind! Found out she is on the board of the hoa! Eventually they dropped the fines and the letter that my mom had to kick me out because iAd stayed with her more than one day in her own condo. Eventually mom sold and now she lives with me in my house. They made her life hell even up to the day we left telling her she could not have a moving truck in the condominium. I was like call the police! How do you want my mom to move? Idiots this was in Florida! So I understand the e bike haters and Karen’s or Ken’s!
