Just watched this on my 5K screen and ...Great! And I love the apparent dynamic range in the backlit shots. You are very talented! The IBIS on the A7SIII is really bad too. With the new steadyshot mode it tends to randomly JUMP around very abruptly.
Such an amazing and stunning video. Great job and thanks for sharing. I have a question. Are you gonna change the white balance on every single clip? Or you work with awb? I am a little bit confused. Lets say i want to achieve a warm look throughout the whole video. Do i need to set the same WB to every clip or do i need to set my wb different for every clip? Btw i dont work with raw. Many thanks
Sorry, but got one more question. Can you add to custom video mode C1 (4K 120fps CLog), C2 (4k HQ 24fps), C3 (8K RAW) or every time you need to change settings like like HQ mode on/off - High Frame Rate on/off? Thank you for help.
@@damiencooper Some did and some didnt. The RF 24-70 and the 24-105 F4, do. And once you get to about 28mm plus, the edge warp goes away and they work very well with the IBIS on the R5 for me. What's interesting, is that my Sigma EF lenses with no IS, work great with the R5 as well. In some ways the IBIS feels less aggressive there. That may be what is causing you issues. The RF IS glass with the IBIS is more aggressive than using non IS lenses.
@@damiencooper would you go for blackmagic + separate camera for still or just get an r5 i am really confused thinking to get something different for stills ( a second hand 5d or an eos r) and blakcmgiac 4k for videos
@@flim2861 loaded question. Really depends on what and how you shoot. Those cameras look similar but they are catered to vastly different people and shooting fields I think

@@faizr I personally prefer having just one lens yes. with the 24mm 1.4 you need to stop down to 2.0 anyway to get it sharp. The 50mm is an amaying lens though but it depends on your shooting style. 100% quality or versatility?
Monkeypixels thanks for your response! I found that false color was very useful. But tbh i dont want to connect my atomos all the time.. i found that if i turn on the log assist and eye balled it, that was the best way to expose lol. Its weird cause I was always taught to expose 1-2 stops over but for this camera the meter is at -1 to 0.
Joshua Villegas when exposing for your subject going 1-2stops over is the correct way. I however mostly shoot in sunrise/sunset situations and don’t want clipped highlights. So I mostly expose for the sky and just being back shadows in post and deal with the noise
Fraser MacMannis I actually just got the cam and immediately put the newest fw on it. But no overheating issues for that shoot whatsoever. I’ll talk about it in Sunday’s bts

the editing is fine after transcoding to proxies which took A LONG ASS time on the newest 2020 imac with 64gb Ram, 10core and the 5700XT. Those files are just stupid. I will talk about this in my review on sunday also
Yes I cancelled my order of R5 because of this.... Sadly I've been with canon for years. But it's time to move on... Thanks for the info! Bravo on everything you do!
I will eventually but a camera that can't shoot more than 40fps is an absolute no go for me.. And I don't want to deal with heavy crops and ever changing aspect ratios either
editing and camera work is not Top notch. 1 min too long. You just used that shot at 1:46 twice, why go back to it? Why jump cut? and use slow mo? it cant be slow and shaky/ reframing also. And with a woman that looks so damn sweet and a lens and a camera that is so good there are no excuses.
@@damiencooper yes, you've mentioned that straight! BIG THANKS FOR THAT! Still, shadow recovery looks strong and overall lowlight performance. Seams nearly impossible to choose between R5 and a7s3.

I don't like my IBIS in the C500 ii. Too risky for it to ruin a shot. better just add in post if it needs it.

update: it works. You can set custom modes to anything you were just shooting in and it remembers

Weird. I have had great success with the IBIS. But not - with lenses wider than 24. At 28 or above its actually quite good.

usually via false color or waveforms on an external monitor. This time I just eyeballed it tbh
