A point on tyres. Also check your pressures. Dropping the pressure can also improve grip. I didn't know this until another driver let the pressures down on my car. I noticed the difference straight away.
another good tip is take a torque wrench, and tyre pressure gauge, its unreal how your bolts can loosen with a lot of heat from hard braking. and go with your mates, first day i did was cadwell and chased people all day rather than timing, much more fun 😜
Hello JB! On Number 5, equipment, you forgot to mention a neck brace. In my opinion, its absolutely essential to have one as it might save your life in some harsher accidents. Ive heard countless stories of people getting out of rough accidents almost unharmed due to those and they dont cost much!
Ik you’ve probably had hundreds of comments like this but your videos are absolutely amazing for upcoming first drivers I’m 15 at the minute but the Yaris t sport is my dream when I’m 17 just really like your content mate keep it up 👍
I'm 16 and have no license of any kind, but our neighbours were extremely kind and gave us their daughter's first car for free! It's a 3-door 2004 VW Polo Twist, I can't wait to be able to drive it!
Bedford is defo the best beginner track due to it being pancake flat and very wide and lots of safe passing spots for faster cars and drivers. It’s also the first track that claimed my engine due to a slow coolant leak unbeknown to me 😢
@@CarsWithJB yeah defo not, but lesson to make sure to check my car over before a track day and during the day to lift the bonnet and check nothing is leaking. Now after each run I have a quick look to make sure everything is doing what it should. All my coolant hoses are now silicone too to prevent this ever happening again 😅
You’ll love it! Very safe track. Pay attention to the morning briefing about etiquette and leave ego in the pit lane when you head on out 😊 there will always be someone who is faster than you so just move over when you see them closing in. You’re not setting hot laps or time attacking at track days so don’t behave like it’s a race and before you know it the bug will bite and bite hard! Have fun 😉
Would love to take my car to Castle Combe, but I've never been able to convince myself to pay for it. I think I'd be worrying about how quickly I'm shredding my tyres and brakes too much to really enjoy the experience. One day when I've got a driveway/garage I'd love to have a 2nd, cheap car that I can thrash on track. FN2 Type R maybe. We'll probably be well into the EV era before I can afford a big house though...
The cost of a track day including tyres, brakes, oil, coolant etc etc, getting there and home depending on where you live is absolutely absurd in this country. This makes it very difficult for the average person to do. They must be making a killing at these tracks. Great fun though but the cost is not friendly to the average person. Good tips!
@@CarsWithJB Indeed ! I though they'd be closer to £100 but that said, as track days are generally booked-up, one might argue that they've got the pricing is right. BTW - I've watched many of your vids. which I find professional, entertaining and informative; so thanks.
@@gosskamperis2016 at Knockhill you can have a after-work 2 hour open pitlane session for £105, or a full day for £200. The after work days are pretty popular though, still get a lot of fun in, relieve stress for a couple hours and you've not commited a whole day to it
The track day I attend is north of $700Cdn a day. About £425.00. They provide a good lunch, full recovery and emergency medical, instructors are included if needed.
I was just wondering in regards to one of your tips about bringing things like petrol, oil etc. is there a place to store them? I'm looking to get into track days and i didn't consider this as I was unsure if there was a place to keep it rather than in the boot (obvious reasons)
My recommendation (probably should have mentioned in this vid) is bring a friend, especially for your first time! I.e. have someone else drive a separate car. Helpful if something goes wrong with yours, and they can store your stuff too
Love them - depends what you’re after though, of course there’s the pre defender series 1-3 which are stunning, and pretty good if you’re into classics, or the newer stuff. Just depends what works for you!
@@CarsWithJB We have a 1995 Land Rover Defender 110. It needs a new chassis and there's some play in the transmission, the engine's getting a bit tired (over 200,000 miles old), and we still don't know what the 0-60 time is! We love it, though.
I got a mini recently, im thinking that once I get something a bit better I could use that as a track car. 1.6 petrol with 144,000 miles 😂 just broken in, in my book!
haha, nice one mate. i’ve just bought a mini about a month back too, 2008 1.4 93k miles. just done the spark plugs, ignition coils, oil and coolant myself today as the car was suffering a misfire. cars running sweet as ever after that
Get the mini on track! Go out and have fun, Minis will be great fun on track and it's great to learn to drive a slow car fast, you'll notice improving very quickly compared to a fast car which will hide your mistakes from the timesheet better
@@BrasileiroBritanico1 Another thing to consider when the engine is misfiring is replacing the spark plugs. Me and my dad replaced them on my car the other day and it runs way smoother.
@@CarsWithJB I’ve driven castle Combe about 6 or 7 times the photo on my avatar pic is from castle Combe in my B5 RS4. Purchased myself an mx5 as a summer project decided I should do a welding course before lol
You never know when it will come in handy.

Only thing I would add is to consider Track Day insurance with Recovery if you worry about crashing or being crashed in to.
I had no idea that track days were so expensive
It’s crazy isn’t it 🤌🏽
