    WHOA BRO!!! I remember this type of machine! My old favorite Mom n Pop Game shop back in my home town usta have one like this. They would repair your discs for a low cost. Great vid Bro!

      Wouldn't it damage if you go over the disc as many tines as a careless person would check out the disc at the library?

  • @MrSharewareable
    @MrSharewareable 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't know if you are aware or do it off camera, but it helps to spray with water and very gently wipe off the disc after each of the sandings (or just run it under the sink with cool water for a second). If you are doing a ton of games I understand it would be more time consuming, but all of the microscopic plastic particles end up on your buffing pads. Especially after a coarse sanding on a very damaged disc you are keeping that material on the disc (in addition to the soft sand pad) when you start to buffer/polish, and are just adding more micro scratches resulting in more time spent buffing. Saves on the life/effectiveness of your pads too. Just my 2 cents.

    This was great. I was researching which DVD repair kit to go with and the price ranges are so wide! I wanted to buy one for my Sun for his x-box games mostly. At $130 it's an investment. But if it salvages 5 games or many movies we have to clean or repair it may very well be worth it after 5/10 repairs or so!
    Quick Question? Is there a timer on the machine?

    • @RetroGamePlayers
      @RetroGamePlayers  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome thanks! Yes mine has paid for itself for sure. And the machine has a 10 sec, 20 sec, 1 and 2 min timer.

    If I am not sure which one I start whether coarse or soft sandpaper , does the coarse one hurt or erase the data of any game CD/DVD?

    • @RetroGamePlayers
      @RetroGamePlayers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the scratches. The manual tells you which order to do it depending on how deep the scratches are. If you keep using the Coarse then yes you could damage the disc. I just do it incrementally and test it if I am not sure.

    Hey, I just bought one of these recently, do your finished discs have swirl marks all over it? Mine do even if I only use #2 compound and don't sand the discs. I pretty much put just as much compound as you. So far I haven't had any discs that look clean like yours in the video.

    • @issdar
      @issdar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here just got machine and no matter what I do can't get out swirl marks after using blue compound!!!! So frustrating...No one is talking about it either in youtube videos either which is odd to me since everyone I have asked said there is no way to get rid of swirls. All these videos make it look like it comes out as a mirror finish. Did you ever figure it out?

    • @weirdo808hi
      @weirdo808hi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@issdar I actually started using Meguiars compound and polish instead of the included ones and have had better results. I also did notice that spraying a little water on the disc when doing the compound helps as well than just going straight in with compound only. Of course using 3rd party compound / polish voids your warranty though. They do have another type of buffer pad though, I complained to them about the swirl marks on discs (before I started using Meguiars) and they sent me like a softer buffing pad to use when polishing the discs (I think they called it a soft pad). That pad pretty much made the discs look almost new. Try and see if they'll send you that softer pad for free, otherwise I think they tried to charge me $10 for 1 as its not advertised anywhere.

    • @issdar
      @issdar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@weirdo808hi Thanks for the tips! I will see if they can send a softer pad. I ordered some Novus plastic polish #1 and #2 I am going to give that a try on different pads. I am kinda weary of using meguiars compound since it contains petroleum products. Not sure how that will react in the long term with plastic CD's. I know acrylic is very prone to cracking even if you get isopropyl alcohol on it. However I am not sure the type of plastic CD's are made from (I supposed it can vary depending on the CD too). I would feel comfortable using Meguiar's M10 Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish don't think it contains petroleum products and looks safe on plastics. Wonder if anyone has tried it ?

    • @RetroGamePlayers
      @RetroGamePlayers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, do not over tighten. Also if the center is already cracked, like before you even buff then there is chance it might crack a bit more. I just tighten barely enough to hold it in place.

    • @momoqahtani6545
      @momoqahtani6545 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @RetroGamePlayers
      @RetroGamePlayers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That sucks. I'm not sure what I could be doing different although I did notice once that my sanding pad had something on it and it left scratches. Also the center wore out quicker than the outside and that started doing something to the outside of the discs. But I just replaced with good sanding paper on it and it seems great now though.

    • @wildmangamer8398
      @wildmangamer8398 6 ปีที่แล้ว
