    I have been using this machine for years now and it's really good. Some quick tips.
    Microfiber cloths can scratch if you use the edges of the cloth on the disk with the sewing part.
    You will want to put something around the ring where the disk is held otherwise you can get problems.
    Make sure you tighten the ring properly otherwise the disk will crack in the center.
    99% of the time, you don't need to sand it. Sanding can break the disk.
    Oh and purchase car compound and polish. It's the same as the JFJ branded stuff but much cheaper.

      What’s the best thing to put around the rings?

      @@cdt6857 I cut a small circle piece of cloth and put it in with the disk between the disk and the screw top.

    Just received mine and cleaned 3 games discs so far. I like it. Read the instructions ... completely... and you should have no issues with the system. 🤓👍

    THIS is 100% the correct way to resurface discs using the JFJ Easy Pro. After watching a few tutorial vids and ruining two PS2 discs ( both on their way out anyway ), this is the one that actually worked for me. It's true that a single cycle with the buffing compound ( the white one ) is all that is required for most discs. Doing it this way actually fixed a deadmau5 CD that would skip at one track, and it took the faint scratches off my copy of FFX without destroying the data. Fortunately, both run better after the resurfacing!
    Some info for those who might find it helpful:
    - Most of the time, you only need to use the white buffing compound for one minute. ( One two-minute cycle if the scratches are deep. ) You do not need to spray the disc in-between cycles.
    - Using the blue polishing compound is optional if you want a nicer finish, but there is always a risk of damaging the disc irreparably because you are putting it through another cycle. If the first cycle with the white compound works, don't mess with it further. I would advise using shorter cycles ( 20 sec. ) if you plan to use the blue compound after the white one.
    - To help avoid getting those circles at the center of discs, make a paper buffer to stick between the screw and the disc. It really helps avoid that circular ring that can form at the center of discs after resurfacing.
    - The official JFJ retailer charges quite a bit for shipping on supplies, so it's better to buy in bulk to get free shipping or to buy from a retailer that offers free shipping. Also, when given the option to pay for "improved" shipping, just go with the free shipping that is offered. I paid about $20 more to have my machine shipped to me via FedEx, and it ended up arriving via USPS, anyway.
    Also: the Gamecube plate and buffing pads are worth having and are back in stock at the official retailer's website. ( If you buy from resale market right now, just the plate will cost $50 minimum not including shipping. ) The reason why is because having a correct-sized plate protects the edges of the disc during buffing, which can be ruined if you attempt to buff the GC disc with the regular plate / regular sized buffing pads.

    Isn’t a premium disc resurfacer but it definitely does the job! I’m so thankful that they are affordable and quality at the same time. Saves so much time going to stores to get it done and money considering it’s 3 bucks a disc most anywhere. Now we can salvage even the cheap games since we have a machine! Love this thing.

    I like the machine... A good beginner's machine, nothing more. If you're serious, you should invest in an Eco Pro 2 or a Hybrid 2.0 down the line.
    However, I strongly dislike the compounds, as they leave marks on the discs, so I've switched to Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. Works perfectly.
    The sanding time they suggest is far too much as well. 10 seconds can destroy the disc. I give it 3 seconds, a max of 6 seconds. Also, even though they say it's pointless, always use water! Spray the disc with water before sanding or polishing it. Also spray the buffing pad with water. You'll get much cleaner and nicer results. Also, always clean a disc from inside out, never in circling motions

    The key is to eliminate their compounds and pads. The process I use is the similar procedure that auto detailers that do paint correction use. The discs come out virtually flawless.

    I'm curious to know overall what the upkeep prices are like how long do the pads last/solutions last ? I resale so just wanted to make sure you know if I'm cleaning a few hundred disks a month if not more then that

    • @common_lad
      @common_lad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve found that they all last a very long time and have been impressed by the equipment and supplies. I’m definitely getting more use then advertised. Each pad will do about 100 games. If I’m using one full time It probably takes me about a week to get through one. The bottle of compound I use will easily do 1000 games making it a very good price per game. And that’s all that I use! Hope this helps as this was one of my major questions before buying this machine.

    I bought my JFJ and the first 100 discs looked great. But the last batch I did, maybe 10-15, all came out with little swirls around the outer part of the back. I’ve changed pads, used more and less solution. Not sure by it’s happening

    • @common_lad
      @common_lad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, strange. I haven’t had any issues with that so far. I do know that certain discs can’t be repaired because of pre existing damage like that on it but I haven’t had any case where the machine cause it. Unfortunately I don’t have a solution for you. Maybe just try some different disc and hope it was just those 2 that were faulty. Something you might also want to try if your pads are new is to get them covered in compound by running them a few times first before doing your first refurb as I just find they work better like that.

    One bit of information is to read the instructions. I destroyed 2 ps3 games before I realized they aren't supposed to be sanded cause the data is on the bottom of the disc. I'm actually not upset or angry cause it was my fault but boy did it destroy those discs and one of my buffing pads. Blu-Ray discs have a different process

    Does this company ship to the European Union? I can't seem to find any decent disc repair machine for sale in the EU. Only found some in the UK for insane prices but i have not seen the JFJ Easy Pro for sale inside the EU. I guess i would have to import it, which would cost quite a bit of money. saw that only shipping was already over $100.. not to mention having to get the consumables that you have to use with it and get it shipped from the USA every time. But i guess if there is no alternative in this price range i would have to go with this one

    I just got a JFJ Easy Pro and a JFJ Eyecon. It still leaves real minor circular scratches, which obviously is not ideal. I am hoping after I use it a few times this will go away because the pads wear down a little. Did it for you?

      It always does the little swirls but the swirls aren't deep enough to effect the disk and can only be seen in direct light.
      Any disk I run through the machine and sell gets sold as good condition because of that. Your turning acceptable or broken condition to good condition. That's it really.
      This is why I don't run all disks through the machine that is scratched, I only run the bad ones.

    I would wipe discs off with a fine microfiber cloth, that thick blue one you're using looks way too coarse for the shiny surfaces of discs. You need something like a glass cleaning fiber cloth.
