    Important WARNING! Do NOT use the sanding paper pads on Blu-Ray and Blu-Ray based game discs. Those discs have several thin layers with data between them and can scatter the layer you are trying to resurface. Thanks for the video!

    One thing I recommend is to find a rubber washer to go between the disc and the plastic nut. Jfj machines are known to put scratches in the center of the disc from the nut. Doesn’t affect the playability, just a cosmetic issue.

    • @tylerpowers8841

      mdgiebel I’ve been hitting my head on the wall trying to get rid of the scratches in the center . Do you have any idea the best washer for the problem.

    • @mdgiebel
      @mdgiebel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Tyler Powers just take the plastic nut from the machine to Lowe’s and find one that has the right inner diameter and close to the outside diameter. If you find one that is too big outer diameter just trim it with a razor to fit.

    I've owned one for nearly 2 years and haven't had any issues outside of a couple games. It's wonderful stuff and I've long since made enough off of selling games and movies to buy replacement machines 6-7 times over.
    Keep in mind though if the machine breaks they won't honor the warrantee if they believe you use other fluids.

    Got my JFJ in the mail today. Was disappointed because while I did save a few games, I was getting bad swirl marks and just wasn't happy with the result. I watched your video and went to town to buy the Meguires Compound and Polish, and it was a night and day difference. Had a game that worked but looked like it got thrown across a gravel parking lot, did 10 second sand on the coarse and smooth pads, 3 minutes on the compound and a minute and a half of polish and it literally looks like a new game. Thank you so much. I hope someone else reads this and decides not to second guess getting the Meguires, literally only 20 dollars for both bottles.

      In all honesty I've even recently backed off from using the sandpaper as often! It's still great for bad discs, but many I've fixed lately are just fine using the buffing pads for a few minutes.

    I'm impressed. Unfortunately covid has killed a few small game business around here; one of which I know had a high end resurfacing machine.
    My wife's Legend of Dragoon was ALMOST flawless.. with one feint - Medium scratch.. and sad enough it olayed all the way until right before the Insert Disk 3screen .
    I didn't want a cheap machine that left a ton of swirls even if it fixed it...
    Watching your video helped me. I saw all the methods I've read about.
    The only thing I read about NOT having swirls was DEFINITELY dampen your buffing pad well with water before polish and buffing compounds. I was surprised you only used about three sprays. But it seemed plenty. Your halo looks wonderful.
    You're kingly!! Thanks so much for this video.
    P.s. practiced on some random DVD. Then worked my way thru less valuable PSX games and then Legend of Dragoon. Sucess..
    Thanks again
    Also to anyone new, I personally decided to use more compound on a new buffing pad because it's super absorbing.. I figured it would kind of Season it.. after that I used less compound but enough to make sure the pad wasn't soaked, nor had any dru spots, exceptionally true with the edges.

    One thing I want to mention: On CDs the data layer is barely bollow the Label of the disc like you demonstated with your copy of MotoGP 2. However on DVD the (first) Data layer is actually in the middle of the disc and if the DVD is Dual Layer the second Data layer is also barely below the label. So if you have a DVD that is Single layer and part of the Label is scartched off, don't worry because you only lost part of the label and not the data on the disc. Now if you have a Dual Layer DVD where part of the Label is scratched off than you might lost data. Same goes for Blu-rays where only on Quad Layer Blu-ray one of the Data Layer is under the Label. Anyways good Video, MrMario!

    You my guy are legendary always something great coming from your videos. I was so sad when I first got this machine and realized it didn’t work that great but then I saw your vid and I went form a 60% to a almost 99%. I learned that if you use one pad and put equal amount of compound and polish you save 2 min per disc and only have to use one buffer pad saving on supply’s. Also if the disc isn’t that bad only use the course sandpaper and the soft sandpaper for 5 seconds each instead of 10. Never sand more then 20 seconds. This technique works great one original Xbox games which are the hardest to revive in my opinion other then blue ray.

It's brilliant, really really good, Im using T-Cut as it's all I have in as it was a second hand ebay JFJ with minimal bits with it, T-Cut is a car scratch remover and cheap enough too, I'm not taking on any really bad discs yet on the first day just a dozen grubby 360 ones and all play/install great, this is 100% worth it if your one of those people who sell on their games/CDs/Divvies or just collect like me so they all look like new. I have the old-school double arm model at present but was using the double armless model until it caught fire. I believe I have cleaned around 70,000 discs in the last few years and I strongly recommend trying to reduce your compound usage. I have played with the easy pro model and it broke within 2 weeks, but results are much the same. Be careful with the course paper and you can almost distort the plastic on the disc (Micro level). I run disc on course for 10-sec max, and maybe twice after letting cool for 5 sec for heavy scratched. Soft is much the same (normally just 10 sec) and then 45 sec white and 10 sec blue. My return rate is less than 0.5%. I think if you have a bit more of a play, you could save some cash there. Polish for cars does a better job and I make my own now (I have university lab access).

    It's a nice beginner's machine, nothing more. Use this as a stepping stone, before investing in the Eco Pro 2 or the Hybrid 2.0.
    First thing you need to do is throw away the solution, they are terrible. I use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, gives much better results.
    Also, the time they want you to sand the disc is too much. 3-6 seconds is more than enough. Also, most discs can be done with just polishing.
    Also, I know they say it's not necessary to use water, but always use water on the disc before polishing or sanding it! Also put some water on the polishing pad.

I make sure that the pad is well coated as well as I've noticed dry pads will cause swirls. And I've cleaned in 10 sec increments just to be safe. Anyone else have better tips would be much appreciated.

    It's awesome to see somebody using the Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and polish with the jfj. I've been using it for years as my secret weapon and have never seen anybody talk about it. I'll give you one tip though, cut out a felt ring for the Hub of the disc, so when you resurface you don't get those swirl marks all over the clear disc hub. Make sure to wash all the compound off( washed mine in the sink to get the off) or months later you might pull the disc out and notice a slight cloudiness to it

    Bro a question, i have a mario kart double dash for the gamecube. I went to the professional disc repair resurface game store. They cleaned it professionally (disc resurfaced machine) twice, first time highest level and second time on a lower level. There are no scratches at all, the disc looks almost brand new, however, when i play it, it all works, except when you go from one level to the other level. Then i get the message on the screen to turn of the power button of my nintendo, i have the same issue with the wii and the gamecube while playing this game. Please what seems to be the problem? Should i go to let the disc to be repaired professionally again?

    Thank you for your content. I have a stack of original xbox games that i just purchased that were sold as water damaged. Obviously this was because the artwork and manuals had gotten wet. All were pretty scratched up, but only on the bottom. Which in my opinion that would mean that they had not been previously resurfaced. No label damage. All say that there is no data on the discs after only compound. should i sand them on my jfj? I typically just try the compound. Rarely ever buff with polish. If i sand, its like 10-20 seconds. I am using the same exact compound and polish as you. thank you in advance for your advice

    • @MrMario2011
      @MrMario2011  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's a difference between no data and it not reading, if they were exposed to extreme heat then the data would be toast.
      These days I rarely have to use the sandpaper but I usually use the compound for 4 to 6 minutes, then the polish for 4 minutes. After that I clean it really well with some lukewarm water, that's been able to fix most of my discs.

I have done about 30 minutes of repairs (playing around) and most of my white buffing pad is gone. Do you order your pads from JFJ or are you using a third party? I am not having much luck so far in terms of resurfacing... but im sure I will get there.

    I can confirm that the meguiars ultimate compound and polish work much better than the official jfj stuff :) I actually did a little test by rubbing the jfj blue solution with my finger against one of my test discs and it felt a little rough under my finger tip, plus it left small micro scratches around that area where i rubbed it. I did the same thing with the ultimate polish, it didn't feel rough at all (a little oily and slippery) and i was able to get rid of those scratches the blue solution left behind lol.

      I got mine from ADZ distribution in the UK great company and sales support. I was about to return my machine after two days because it looked like I was destroying more games than fixing and now suddenly I was able to save 5 games already so I'm thinking of keeping it and buy the Meguire stuff. I'm almost out of the compound because I had to buff some games many times but only in bursts of 20 sec. Don't know why but buffing for 2 min and polish nothing was working and I don't get it but I was able to fix those 5 ps1 games by 10 sec soft sanding, 20 buffing and 20 polish and it worked on all 5 games. Deeper scratched game I also did 10 sec coarse.
