  • A quick look at the JFJ Easy Pro disc resurfacing machine and how to use it. It's a pretty nice machine for retro collectors wanting to make scratched discs work again.

    Just a quick thing to note:
    In this video I sanded a Dreamcast game. That's a really bad idea! The data on a Dreamcast game is not as "deep" on the disk as a normal disk and sanding them too much can actually cause them not to work. As you can see, that's not always the case since I sanded that DC game in the video and everything was just fine, but it's definitely something you should keep in mind and a rookie mistake on my part.

      ObjoGaming I was planning on buying this machine to mostly try and fix my Dreamcast games too, my Generator Demo Disc and Sonic Adventure 2. The demo disc has some minor scratches and a tiny chip/dent taken out of it which doesn't look like there's much hope for, but the Dreamcast still reads the music files when I put it in.
      Sonic Adventure 2 just has some scratches but still won't play, so should I just buff it then and see if that works for them? If that doesn't work then should I sand it? I don't really care if it breaks it more since it's already broken, worth a shot in my opinion.

    make sure the games can get past the menu and into actual gameplay. Discs will sometimes get into the menu but no farther even after multiple resurfaces.

    Thank you for the tutorial! Best one I have watched. I was a little intimidated to use the one I just bought. This made it a little less intimidating.

    You also wanted to see for problems to look out for and I got a couple (even though it is best for the money it has some flaws): Sometimes the Velcro doesn't stick well on the pads so the pads will leave resurfacing marks all over the disc which will sometimes keep it from working, some discs no matter how many times you resurface and no matter how perfect a job you do will never work again (not the machines fault, I think it's the quality of disc or something) Sometimes the wingnut will come loose that holds the disc in place and will leave resurfacing marks on the disc as well as heat the disc up a lot. Sometimes the same wingnut will get ultra tight when resurfacing for no reason so you have to use a wrench/vice grips to get it off because muscle power is not enough (only happened once for me on about 60 repairs)

    Thanks for the honest review. My local retro store uses one and charges $2 per disc. But they were not as thorough as you. I don't think they used the GameCube attachment either. My discs have some swirl marks noticable on very bright lighting.

      @ObjoGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tomcat360 it's a fine machine but I don't think that an actual store should use it as their primary machine, and I really don't think they should charge for it. I've had a lot of discs that need to be put through up to 5 times, and I don't think a store would be willing to do that.

    Got mine today after waiting a month for delivery. Fixed 1 disc and it stopped working. I notice in the video how quiet it is. My one was so loud and I had to hold it cause it was vibrating like hell. Fuckin pissed off. Now it just doesn't work. Paid $450 aud (with postage from America)

    Skip doctors are mainly for music CDs because music CD data has a thicker plastic coating above it. My powered one works well, but you have to continue to spray the disk with the solution, as the CD is being buffed, for best results. If you let it get dry the abrasive pads WILL ruin the CD. They do have pads meant for games but they are harder to find and games are easier to ruin.

    Is there some kind of adapter I have to use for Gamecube games? Otherwise this seems like a cool device.

    How many times can you resurface a ps2 disc? i took Dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 1 and 3 to my local game store i think he resurface both games twice. Tenkaichi 1 works perfectly now but Tenkaichi 3 loads up now but will not go to the main menu should i resurface Tenkaichi 3 again or look for other solutions
    I think he did a min for each resurface

    • @ObjoGaming
      @ObjoGaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The disc may just be done for, since two resurfaces should be fine for a PS2 disc. You could try it again but you probably wouldn't want to sand it too many more times. Check to see if there are any scratches on the top of the disc, if there are then there's nothing you can really do.

    Hi,
    Can you speak on those amazon reviews that are saying this machine wrecked there discs

    • @ObjoGaming
      @ObjoGaming  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gazooo29 I've done probably about a hundred discs (if not more) and haven't had any discs get destroyed. From my experience, the people that I've seen complain about that usually weren't using the machine correctly or not following the instructions. (Sanding for too long, not using the GameCube attachment, etc.) Remember as well that reviewers on sites like Amazon are more likely to write a negative review if something doesn't work than a positive review if everything works fine. Thanks for watching!

      You need a special attachment to resurface GameCube games since the disc is so much smaller than a regular disc. JFJ sells them on their website.

      Leon Reaper you're supposed to give a PS1 disc less time in the machine, but I've used it plenty for PS1 and it's worked just fine!

    Only use the sand paper as a last resort though, tip to everyone

    • @ObjoGaming
      @ObjoGaming  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely. If the scratches are pretty minor you should be able to just buff them out. If they're bad though, you'll want to use the sandpaper.

    I wish I had one of these to repair my old Kirby air ride disc, I would pay hundreds.

    • @krakenthrottle2199
      @krakenthrottle2199 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kirby air ride is what a 50$ game? a jfj costs 120 before taxes/import charges. If you only wanted a jfj to repair kirby air ride it'd be better to buy the game on amazon/ebay and sell the scratched game on ebay for like 20-30$ as "not working as is" and include in the description that you haven't tried resurfacing it.

    • @GeniusJimmyNeutron
      @GeniusJimmyNeutron 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Numberless Oats Yeah, but every time I try to buy the game, some sort of complication comes up.
      I'd rather buy this than waste more money for the fifth time.

      GJN's LP'S Channel! (Under Construction) I think I have seen resurfacing adds on ebay before someone may resurface your disc there. If you were local i'd offer to help (for a 5.00 fee if successful) but I am fairly confident you don't live anywhere near Annapolis valley NS Canada

    The sander ruined my game

    • @ObjoGaming
      @ObjoGaming  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Did you use it as the instructions specified? Course sandpaper first, softer sandpaper second, and then a full cycle with the white and blue polish. May need another time through with the polish. If you did it properly and it still didn't work, the game probably no longer works or needs to be resurfaced with a professional machine.
