I’m excited for the core one. Going to wait for reviews and what Bambu’s next printer is. But super excited for the products coming in 2025. Going to be a good year.
And even better, from the interview with the Bambu Labs CEO it looks like they are still hard at work on the next generational jump, so more good stuff ahead :)
"Seems the rest of the competition saw how 'VORON' was performing" ... as Bambu Lab did when they "got inspired" by them, Klipper, CoreXY and Input Shaping. "Competition breeds innovation" ... yepp, especially in repairability and open source firmware unlike Bambu uses. I like that Prusa and Sovol keep on going and brands like Anycybic offer a really good price/ performance.
Thank you for sharing your Formnext experience. One trend that I am seeing is that the consumer level 3D printing industry is finally putting some effort into making printers that can handle stronger, more heat-resistant 'engineering' type materials. In particular, I am especially gratified that we are seeing more printers with heated, temperature controlled enclosures. I am also impressed with the new stronger materials that some of the filament manufacturers are coming up with. I think that consumer level 3D printing is taking some big steps into giving people the ability to print parts that are stronger and more heat resitant, rather than items that are purely decorative.
Truly surprised that the Filament2 tube with paste filament wasn't featured. Honestly this is the most exciting thing I saw. Finally consumer based printers will be able to print silicon and epoxy prints. This will truly be able to unlock a standard 3d printers capabilities with very little modification (new nozzle)
For the record Bambu now has TPU-HF for the AMS/AMS Lite so you can do multi-color TPU right now with that. The color selection is somewhat limited but my first few prints on an A1 using the default filament preset came out near-perfect. I even left it out for a day on the AMS lite and printed again with very little stringing and otherwise zero issues.
Thank you for this video. I was losing my mind trying to find anything on the SV08-mini and thought I was losing my mind. I'm definitely going to grab one and one of those BTT MMU units when they release
All that I want a Core XY that is budget friendly and freaking quiet... I want to put this in my living room and blend that with the furniture, while not sounding like I'm an episode of a Sci-Fi dystopian, Steampunk series.
This is a genuine question...why the excitement with the prusa core xy? They are just catching up with the industry, there is no innovation in that printer. I just wish they presented something with innovation as they used to instead of "wait a minute, let me catch my breath".
There’s lots of innovation. Cutting out build volume in the chamber to reach 55C inside without a heater is innovative. The 70-80 degree overhang without an auxiliary fan is innovative. It isn’t revolutionary, but there are some cool innovations there. I’m excited about it because it will be a no frills machine that just works, but which can print exotic materials.
I made a video on that question, you should check it out. But mainly it’s not a bambu clone, it’s going to revive prusa and get them out of obsolescence, and the overhangs and non pla prints will be better.
Well, people have been asking Prusa to make a printer like this for a long time. Should have good dimensional accuracy, should have excellent overhang performance, should have excellent temperature control, uses a color system that has far less waste than the competition, should be a solid machine overall. Owners of Mk4S machines can rebuild them into a Core One with a conversion kit. Prusa machines tend to be more about attention to detail and appealing to makers.
@@logicalfundyIt doesn’t use any color system yet, nor does it come with one at that price. The only thing they have going for them is some semblance of open source and not being Bambu…
I'm really interested in the prusa core one, Bambu x1c is very compelling but I need something that has good support for repair and maintenance and so far prusa seems to be a lot better in that area.
I really hope Sovol catches on to the developments of VORON and PRUSA! A new SV08 where the filament spool is hidden like with the Core One and a filament cutter is integrated like with the VORON toolhead really would be next level. That combines with a BTT AMS or Creality CFS unit and open Klipper would be awesome!
Anycubic having proprietary firmware sounds like klipper but locked. With Bambulab they have elements that don't exist exist in klipper and can't due to the way klipper works, but are we supposed to believe Anycubic made an entire firmware when their other systems run on klipper and look the same? The AMS units with dryers seem great though if integrated and controllable through the interface rather than just with physical controls.
@@thenextlayer well in principle the sentiment is still true. 15:30 I bought a Flashforge Creator Pro 2 ( 2 independent extruders). I got it for $180, "unrepaired return". I did have to do some troubleshooting and re-pin a motor but the machine is AMAING! I have a couple Voxelab Aries by the same company and they are so reliable. I cannot imagine how incredible the AD5X must be. And that price point is within my range I will probably stop trying to mod every printer to be multi filament. BTW, the Creator Pro 2 can do TPU just fine. I rarely print anything that doesn't use TPU. The only reason I need a second filament is to add rigidity in certain places, but TPU is almost always used. There is rarely a time where the flex and indestructibility of TPU is not important, but often the need for a rigid frame or back plane to mount screws through.
I just got the mk4s kit as my first 3D printer, and now I’m excited to eventually perform the core one upgrade when that becomes available. And the wait should give my bank account time to heal lol
I'm looking forward to getting the core one upgrade kit for my MK4S. I love my MK4S (it's my first printer), and I was saving up to get an enclosure for it to print the more engineering grade materials. But now this new printer is out, I'll wait for the upgrade kit in spring next year.
Just printed my first tpu 95 part and that tpu-cf sounds very appealing. Also the PPS-CF, already almost ordered some PETG-CF. Just got my P1S a week ago and need hardened nozzles still, not going to do the diamond nozzle just yet as not really needed. My waterjet uses ruby or diamond orifices, $40 vs $400 respectively, but the ruby may last well up to 8+hrs of cutting. More prone to random premature blowouts/chipping. The diamond last way way longer and have never had a blowout with one, the water stream just stays so much more focused for way longer. Maybe not 10x longer but not swapping them so often or causing an issue with scrapping a job is worth it.
Great video! I'm not in a buying situation right now, but I still like to see where the market is going. It's especially interesting to watch the upgrade market continue to grow. In a few years when I'm prepared to buy a new printer, it's going to be something fantastic!
Just got my FLSUN S1 Pro... holy crap it is HUGE. I'm calling it "The Fridge". Also, this is the ideal printer for cattle farmers in cold climates, as the styrofoam packing makes a terrific fully-insulated watering trough.
I've owned many different printers on the market. Too many to mention. So far my Bambu Lab P1S is my go to printer if I want something printed in less time and with great quality and no fuss. I call it my replicator. We'll have to see how well these other printers will compare to it. And I've always wanted a print volume large enough to print things not so much in height but in length and width. I wonder if any printer company would consider that idea. Say 600mm x 600mm x 250mm? Just a thought as that size would cover all of my DIY needs.
Please see my recent post about SUNLU and their horrific treatment of folks who paid for their S4 dryers and never got them! Chances are good it will happen again with this one.
I'm waiting if any company that would make a 350mm cube core xy with drybox multicolor, active heating chamber and at a budget price of around 600. It will be the perfect sweet spot imo and would probably make competition sweat. Anycubic can easily do this but opted to do 250mm for some reason and would just have to add a chamber heater.
What you’re describing is the K2 plus except it’s much more expensive. I don’t think that price is realistic, considering shipping such a large machine.
@ seeing the anycubic s1 combo at 550 starter price makes me believe such a price point is possible. I think 300mm would be decent too for the cosplay helmets.
About formfutura, I personally love their refill line of pla, it's good price and prints very good imo. Also u can try their Apollo X which is an ASA that prints a bit easier than regular ASA. I never printed with regular ASA so I can't compare but I do like the Apollo X. Although I really don't like their petg, it absorbs a lot of water 😅
Anycubic FINALLY openning the firmware... I got the Kobra3 because it checked a lot of boxes for me, and got really mad with their locked slicer and firmware...
Anycubic releasing the K3 Plus while the K3 have so many issues is not great news...looking at you first layer. The Prusa One is pretty neat, building it is a plus, you know it's well built and you'll know how to fix everything on it. BIQU releasing a chamber heater for the P1 and X1 would be a game changer. Love your channel by the way. Cheers
Very nice and informative, just one thing. I don’t disagree with you on the flashforge being the first to offer multicolor TPU printing, but just for note, Bambu has just released TPU for AMS, which is a fairly rigid TPU that softens when it comes out of the nozzle. Pretty cool stuff.
Any suggestions on what to buy before the blanket China tariffs take effect Jan 20? Unfortunately all of their pricing estimates are going to be way off come next year.
I was going to buy a new printer Bambu labs p1p or the creality max but rumors are flying around that Bambu will put out a larger size bed so now I guess I'm going to wait
Great Channel, so do you think we will see a "Core Two" with two heads? Why is no one looking at the XL and coming with smaller 2 or 3 headed versions? I have long lusted the XL but its just too big and don't need 5 heads (ever)... Interested in your thoughts.
Elegoo’s budget core xy is also late to the party as the excilent Flashforge AD5M has been out for over a year and was just on sale for $239.20 hope they can innovate.
The cobra max with a mutlifilament set up is great. Being able to have multiple filaments loaded for a huge print so you don’t have to worry about running out is such a peace of mind win
5:57 this should be interesting. I saw an announcement about it right after pre-ordering my box turtle kit. Given how long before it's going to be ready, I'll be happy to have something matching my printer a bit earlier.
I started with an ender3 moved to the cr10s, and then the how to basically plug and print X1C. Now im waiting for the tree to be shaken to have a good reasonable harvest to choose from by next black friday. I can pretty much rely on you for my next pick.. Thanks!
Having 3rd party upgrades might be ok for some. But I have had in the past to many good company’s products I bought that have nothing but bugs or non working components on them. So for my new X1C I am sticking to OEM parts.
im actually really glad prusa was so far behind the game. if they had come out with the core printer even 6 months earlier i probably would have bought one and never found out how good bambu really is.
yea ikr. Just got a clog today cus of shitty petg. But it was prolly the only cancerous thing cus getting the filament out of the extruder is just more effort than need be. But overall its a great printer.
Looks like it is quite possible... it seems they have a patent up for a two head printer (CN118386550A), with a picture of a A1 connected to 2 AMS lite units... it's all in Chinese (since it's a Chinese patent! 😆), so not entirely sure what the end goal is just yet... but still food for thought...
Are we ever going to get fdm printers with the same model quality as resin for small stuff? I want to do action figures but I hate dealing with the resin printer is so much pain. Every FDM I have tried makes models where you can feel the print lines on the surface and dont take painting/washes very well.
Print with a 0.2mm nozzle and 0.05mm layers. FDM will never match good resin printers because of physics but it's possible to make miniatures that can be painted.
After the Not Great™ experience I've had trying to get my Anycubic Kobra 2 to work properly, I'm very disinclined to look at anything that they're rolling out anytime soon. Their proprietary firmware is an inscrutable black box, with the only accessible configuration setting I can tweak being the z-offset and THAT'S IT. I would not be surprised if their new printers use the same "not quite a volcano" style nozzle that has the same length barrel above the nut but shaves the top 1-2mm of threads and a tiny bit of the barrel off to make it proprietary and physically incompatible with true blue volcano nozzles.
The AD5X can do TPU?! Is that a typo on the site or did they actually make an AMS system that can do TPU consistently? Or is it something like it only works with that 68D shore hardness stuff Bambu put out?
@@thenextlayer I'll believe when I see but I'm so hopeful. I really have been in need of a multi-material that can use TPU and most idex printers are either out of commission or too expensive right now.
As much press as Bambu is getting and the entire industry circling it as the new standard to copy, I'm still waiting on Industrial Lite to catch on with a large footprint, enclosed print area and high temp/abrasive materials compatibility out of the box without the industrial price tag. Custom builds are fun, but I just don't have the time to tinker with them or troubleshoot them to death until the Ship of Theseus is the only constant.
Don't worry guys, I'm sure SOVOL will remain true to theyre roots and have a defecting automatic bed leveling from the factory that never works, QC problems that cause alignment issues that effect print quality from the ground up. Keep it up SOVOL! Hey at least your open source right?
Ok.. Not about this video but I would love your opinion. I would like to get into 3d printing and have watched a ton of videos saying this or that is best for beginners. So, without breaking the bank, what would you recommend as a beginner printer that has the capabilities of actually producing good prints?
They claim that an extra heater is one more part that can fail, and anyways it reaches 55C without needing one. Try to hit 55C on a Bambu printer. You won’t.
It means it's unnecessary. This is just one of those obvious things where the marketing department adds it to the list of features because they think it sounds impressive.
Happens to me every…single…time I buy tech. I decided to get into the hobby finally, did a bunch of research, and settled on, and just bought a X1C. And then Prusa puts this out 😂. The bigger build area would have made me wait for it in a few months.
my experience with Elegoo will never allow me to purchase another one, and has made me box my elegoo resin printer. The 4 pro had great reviews at launch, however I received a broken machine and horrible support, not to mention they shipped them at launch without working firmware and if you didn't have an in depth knowledge of klipper it was a paperweight
Hey i was at Formnext and you fotgot the new Elegoo Sarurn 4 Ultra 16k, they didnt anounce it or what so ever... Faux hammer told me at formnext that this exists. Its like 12x14 microns resolution i think...

Having 3rd party upgrades might be ok for some. But I have had in the past to many good company’s products I bought that have nothing but bugs or non working components on them. So for my new X1C I am sticking to OEM parts.
What is structured blue light?
im actually really glad prusa was so far behind the game. if they had come out with the core printer even 6 months earlier i probably would have bought one and never found out how good bambu really is.
yea ikr.
Just got a clog today cus of shitty petg. But it was prolly the only cancerous thing cus getting the filament out of the extruder is just more effort than need be.
But overall its a great printer.
What about the Creality KPlus? It comes out now? I had a look in Frankfurt and it looks like a beast
It’s been out, I already reviewed it, old news lol!
7:08 I'm really excited about this ams because then I can mod the q1 pro for multi material printing since it is kipper based
Looking forward to that BTT multi filiment unit for my mercury 1.1
If Bambu Lab releases a multi-head printer, it’s all over.
They tried hard, but it looks like their days of giving 6mo paternity leave are OVER!!
So true
Yeah, I don't care about AMS-like systems. All I need is two heads.
Hi what is your favorite printer
Nice of you to mention the holidays, even if they're not your own! Hanukkah sameach from Texas!
Are you going to do a video on the basf ultra fuse 316L or other similar filaments?
Are we ever going to get fdm printers with the same model quality as resin for small stuff? I want to do action figures but I hate dealing with the resin printer is so much pain. Every FDM I have tried makes models where you can feel the print lines on the surface and dont take painting/washes very well.
Print with a 0.2mm nozzle and 0.05mm layers. FDM will never match good resin printers because of physics but it's possible to make miniatures that can be painted.
a1 mini with a 0.2mm nozzle and some sort of smoothing paint layer (e.g. wood glue) has worked fairly well for me
When’s the biqu V6 Bambu hot end coming? That’s a sweet upgrade
Did you get any more information on the Bambu A1 auxiliary fan?
Ummm not particularly
Wow, lots of info. Thanks!
I am very interested in the Kobra S1, would look great next to my kobra 3
You should have mentioned that the Big Tree Tech color unit is “Very” similar to the Anycubic Ace Pro.
16:05 That's fire! I want that prusa nextruder nozzle!
Fiberology link not working.. :)
The AD5X can do TPU?! Is that a typo on the site or did they actually make an AMS system that can do TPU consistently? Or is it something like it only works with that 68D shore hardness stuff Bambu put out?
They claim it can do it.
@@thenextlayer I'll believe when I see but I'm so hopeful. I really have been in need of a multi-material that can use TPU and most idex printers are either out of commission or too expensive right now.
Awesome overview! Thanks!
It’s a pity that most new printers are essentially “We have X1C/P1S at home.”
Interested in the flsun
Your advertising discount code (for the E1 Max) doesn't work? There is another code offered in the URL, but it is 30%, not your offer of 48%...
I always want to know about FLSun products, please accept the product and do a review!.
Anything from Bambu lab, Creality K1C, Sovol SV06 ACE, all are good.
I'm interested in knowing the price of that upcoming elegoo CoreXY printer.
Cheaper than you think
Prusa trolling Bambu with a Bamboo Prusa.
"Without the need for a separate heater element"
Is that a legit performance pro that I don't understand? Or is that marketing speak for cost cutting?
They claim that an extra heater is one more part that can fail, and anyways it reaches 55C without needing one. Try to hit 55C on a Bambu printer. You won’t.
It means it's unnecessary. This is just one of those obvious things where the marketing department adds it to the list of features because they think it sounds impressive.
Happens to me every…single…time I buy tech. I decided to get into the hobby finally, did a bunch of research, and settled on, and just bought a X1C. And then Prusa puts this out 😂. The bigger build area would have made me wait for it in a few months.
I just saw on reddit a photo of a new bambu printer with an “ams 2 pro” on top
The BTT multimaterial thing caught my eye.
I remember Kokonoi's kickstarter campaign. It just screamed "money toilet".
my experience with Elegoo will never allow me to purchase another one, and has made me box my elegoo resin printer. The 4 pro had great reviews at launch, however I received a broken machine and horrible support, not to mention they shipped them at launch without working firmware and if you didn't have an in depth knowledge of klipper it was a paperweight
Never gave the bed size for the prusa???
Btw you linked the screwdriver twice instead of the soldering iron
Hey i was at Formnext and you fotgot the new Elegoo Sarurn 4 Ultra 16k, they didnt anounce it or what so ever... Faux hammer told me at formnext that this exists. Its like 12x14 microns resolution i think...
Cool! I don’t care about most resin stuff though.
@thenextlayer ohhh okay... I didnt know that^^
What about bambu labs new printer??
No news.
Your link is wrong for the soldering iron
I warned them about that 11 days ago. Sorry man.
Everybody saving money for the new bamboo.
wonder why this plastic wast. why not start with infill to clean the plastic in the nozzle.
Honestly the only thing I would want from Bambu lab is a bigger printer and a updated ams.
