I have to do this without a controlling narcissist but well meaning father hearing or asking questions As I live in my bedroom I wanna make it my palace...so think using a drill may be, out. ...and I bought ceiling plant hangers obviously made just for entering wood DAH cuz the 2 i tried ain't, holding. Oh well another trip to the hardware store. One to return and if the right hangers aren't there off to home depot or Lowes auuuugh. I will check the garage for a power tool...I was going to buy a small drill one anyways to make holes in wood or other for creating wind chimes. Your presentation was funny engaging and bold...you rock

You kind of made this harder for yourself than it needs to be. You're supposed to hold both wings down when pushing the toggle through the hole - they'll both pop open when they get through. It's also a lot easier if you screw the hook on first. You got the job done either way, but save yourself some trouble next time.

Wow, you addressed some things I wouldn’t even think of! Like making sure the hook is screwed onto the threading before bringing the hook base all the way up to the ceiling! I would have had it barely on the tip of the threading and I would have had plants falling everywhere! Thanks!
ADHD squirrel here.. Thanks for the video. I like to think of projects and buy supplies a full 12-36 months in advance and then one day decide to repot a plant and run into said supplies from other projects in a tool bag! I finally hung my macrame fruit basket from my toggle hook, thanks to this video 😂❤

I forgot, next time u do this, the piece that anchors in the ceiling actually closes shut because of spring & u poke it up in there with it closed & when it pops thru the hole it releases and anchors. That’s the only part I knew, u taught me the rest 🙏

I have used swag hooks for years…since way back in the days when we hung everything from our popcorn ceilings! I have always put the hook on the wing/bolt/nut part before I poke into the ceiling so I don’t take a risk of losing the nut part in the ceiling without the hook attached. Yes, that has happened to me! Good job at simplifying this diy that any woman can do herself!

I can not tell you how this video helped me I was using gorilla glue until you pointed out that I needed a bigger hole and I used your method for sure and now my plant is hanging and she’s so cute.

She says to do so at 3:25 but it isn't super clear. She also could have done it before placing the anchor in the drilled hole, but she did it after and just said to make sure it's in before screwing the whole thing in fully in.

This is great! But question, does anyone know how to remove them once they're installed? In case you're selling your home and want to have them removed? Or is it stuck there forever?
I think the answer is to either unscrew the toggle, which will give you the threaded bit, but leave the toggley piece in the ceiling, *_OR_* push the whole dern thing up in there. I kinda think I prefer the later. It’s like a little secret you can take to the grave.

Thanks for the video. It's great. Does this mean that it doesn't matter where on the ceiling I attach it to? Previously Ive been told that I need to find a place where there's wood on the other side of the ceiling to be able to handle the weight of my heavy pot plant. Would really appreciate your advice!
It will be stronger if you drill it into the wood instead of empty space! You can use a studfinder to find them.
Just curious, was there a reason you didn’t use a stud to attach this? I thought it’s always best to screw into a stud as it holds better, no?

I’ve never ever seen these used in anything BUT a ceiling !... took finding YOU ... a woman to get the job done right ! ... and I can guarantee I too will be re drilling same bit to make hole bigger lol ... thanks for your wisdom sister !

I installed mine a couple weeks ago with your video and felt so proud of myself !! Weeks later I took it down to wipe my leaves and the hook unscrewed and I can’t screw it back in :(
But wouldn't the ceiling come crashing down with the weight if it's just a dry wall ? Coz I watched someone else's video saying we need to find a joist to drill holes on to the ceiling.
I have plants weighing each around 3 - 4 pounds and I am very nervous coz I rent the apartment and I know nothing about hardware and tools.

You should really tell people what to do in case of a beam being directly under, or next to, where a hole is drilled and if there is insulation. Both things will create difficulty with this installation. You make it look nice and easy and I wish it was but it isn’t in every house. It certainly wasn’t that wasn’t that easy in my house.
