I was just about to comment this! My apartment doesn’t allow holes in the walls and I have tension rods in every window to hang my plants on! 10/10 recommend it!
8:08 "...the....the stud?...the joist? I dunno, I'm just a little gay boy I don't know these words". Made me suddenly cackle and startled my poor kitty, LMAOoooooo 😹😹😹
I actually bought a two-level garment rack from target and put it in my window, it has a nice industrial look and even the bottom platform has been a great place to put some of my floor plants.
Lovely. Your entire home is. Thank you for the ideas and the warnings about needing the proper support structures in the ceiling. I am a renter and it makes me nervous to leave holes but I would definitely be open to the nails above the windowsills.
Hi Nick, found your channel about a month ago, been bingeing all your videos. Have bought way too many plants for my apartment, and yes, Steves Leaves is my favorite. Also went to your Amazon page and bought a yellow mailbox and mounted my staghorn fern on a small cutting board i never used., and placed it in the mailbox with the lid tied open. Looks ok , hopefully it lives lol. I've learned so much from your videos, so thank you.
Loved this video. Your home has such a warm, inviting, natural atmosphere, and is the kind of space anyone would love to hang out in. I have also found a lot of my hangers in Goodwill stores, second hand stores, and Resource stores that sell all kinds of things from old homes that have been revamped or demolished. The fun is in the treasure hunt and discovery.
I have a wardrobe rack with wheels (VASAGLE Clothes Rack) and i placed it in front of my tall window. I can hang a few plants on a portion of it and it also has shelves, best plant display purchase ever !
I watched your macramé tutorial and it was honestly so much easier than I thought it would be!! I made a small one for my tiny Syngonium Podophyllum propagation that I keep hanging on a post on my porch. It's so simple and fun to make! Now I just need some thicker rope to make some for bigger pots.
Yes, indeed inspiring video. Thank you. Ideas about hanging plants were great. Absolutely enjoying you and your lovely home with unusual plants I’ve never seen before. I marveled at your gorgeous plants
Important tip: Never hang a potted plant above your dog's (or cat's) food and water bowl. I had a friend whose small dog met their demise when a heavy potted plant fell on him while he was eating. Always check the strength of the jute to make sure it is not frayed or wet from the plant. Sorry to be such a downer. 😢
Glad you mentioned that as I had one above my bed. It popped into my head😂😂.... What if it falls.... Removed it promptly. But awareness is never a downer. It could save lives🎉
Yes but this should be common knowledge. Thank you for mentioning it for those that have to be reminded not to put heavy hanging anything above where you dog spends any amount of time. Air scares Lucky. My poor baby boy lol. I was out on this Earth to protect him. 😂. Booboo would have finished it. Nick, I love your vids! Why didn't I find you before? We could be friends. I'd help you hang that rod in your new window, you could help me hang my new rod. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for so quickly doing this video after I asked what you use to hang your beautiful plants. It was so, so helpful. You are so talented and have such style and I am so thankful that I found your channel.
Great tips! I had some metal shepherd hooks that had pointed ends you’d put in a garden. So, I decorated a couple 5 gallon pails, put in the shepherd hooks and filled pails with gravel, instant plant hangers. They are very decorative on top (that’s why I kept them) but look fine inside although wouldn’t win any interior design awards....Sometimes you just have to use what you have on hand.
I’m renting, and I have put up probably about a dozen of those swag hooks in my home. One of them is a big heavy duty one that is holding a hanging macramé table. With plants on it, of course.😁 The rest just hold plants in macramé hangers. I would be lying though, if I said I wasn’t worried about what the landlord is going to say when we move out. They do require pretty large holes… I’m hoping I can just leave the hooks in the ceilings, and he’ll never notice. 😂
I agree! Screw it up into the ceiling. Putty the hole & match texture. Then paint match with a piece of paint off the wall. They will never even notice if you use this method. I have done this before in many rentals and its his never been an issue. 🙂🌱
I don’t think landlords inspect the ceilings as much as they inspect the walls. You could definitely keep a few up.. I left a few in my old apartment just because the ceiling was absolutely littered with them 😝
Great collection of ideas. I use suction cup supported brackets that I attach directly to my glass windows...they stay put regardless of the fluctuations in temp or humidity...and I live in MI.. with freezing, dry winters and hot humid summers. I also swear by my door hooks, the kind that hang off the top of the door to hang plants from my interior doors and curtain rods.
Hi Nick! I love the way you've decorated your apartment! Everything is so orderly and pretty. I like the ideas you showed for hanging plants. I bought some wrought iron brackets to hang some plants on, but haven't put them up yet. I, also, bought some wall hangers that have a round ring to set a plant in, but haven't put them up yet, either. Some day..... LOL! Way back when I used to make macramé hangers. I may need to get into that again. It was a lot of fun. You're always so much fun to watch and listen to. I appreciate you doing videos so much, no matter what you talk about. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for this! I love the cast iron wall mounted hook that you have. Would have never thought to do something like that indoors. It looks amazing and I already have some spots in mind! ❤️
I’ve been waiting for you to make this video. I am in an apartment also, north exposure, so use grow lights and as many plants near the window as I can get. When ever you have showed your hanging plants I always try and look at the very top, but you never have really shown that until now. Thanks so much, love your channel, your humor, and your design style. 👍🏼💕😃
I really like hanging plants. They create such a nice vibe. But I find watering them to be a bit tricky. How do you water yours? Could you do a video about how you water your hanging plants?
Something I do sometimes I start by holding a bucket/bowl close to the bottom of the pot, and then when water starts draining I put the container underneath the pot where it would land! This way you don't have to deal with getting water on your floor!!
Awesome! I just moved and needed new ideas for hanging some plants. BTW my last apartment had drywall ceilings and I was able to hang heavy 8in planters by using drywall anchors.
Greetings Mr. Nick, I like that you have three windows.and I think having nails to wood frame. I unable to hang with ‘cause I’ve brick ceilings. Thank you sooo much for explaining about the hook variation. I must get a carpenter to do all my hangings plants . Thanks for your inspiration.🌿
With the ikea shelf bracket that you’re not in love with, could you not fix a small round wooden shelf onto it, to kinda disguise it. Then you could put another plant on top of it.
I used anchors instead of toggle bolts in my last apartment. I’m just more comfortable working with the anchors. There are holes already in the ceiling of the apt I’m in now. And the landlord is not always accepting of the changes I’ve made. Looks like you have a very nice apartment..
I habe a 180x40cm metal lattice/grid hanging from my ceiling where i can hang plants. It’s also a great room divider with bigger plants hanging from it
I use a rod over my windows..I put up brackets on each end and used a curtain rod on one window but I had to get a longer one for my living room bc of two windows. I got my rod a Lowes..
Lovely home! Thank you for posting this video. Do you have a specific nail size you would recommend to support the weight of the planter? I am thinking of doing your window hanging technique :)
"I'm just a little gay boy" 😂😂😂 that got me. Otherwise, informative as usual! I've actually been looking for ways to hang plants so this is super helpful!!
Nick thanks for the video. I have been trying to figure out a way to display my plants I have quite a few and I’m running out of space. I have about 4 bleacher style stands and my plant room aka my living room ,it is a square box my walls and ceilings are concrete so I have trouble hanging any thing with a nail so I use command hooks for everything but i my have to hire a handyman who has a couple of tricks up his sleeve to hand my plants I even bought 2 clothes racks to hang plants from but my space is so limited it’s disgusting.
I always called those hangers that go in and open up inside the wall or ceiling butterfly hooks. Have no idea of that's the proper name but what I say anyway
Nick thanks for sharing those ideas for hanging plants in windows. I couldn't help but notice the wall mounted plants on inside of your window frames. Just curious about what plants those are and how you set them up.
I have a plant in a coco liner that was outside. What should I use to transplant it into to hang in the house so it doesn’t make a mess when I water it. Thanks
You can also use a shower tension rod within the window frame. It's a great way to hang plants in the window without making holes or drilling.
I was thinking of doing this. Thanks for reminding me lol!
Great idea
I was just about to comment this! My apartment doesn’t allow holes in the walls and I have tension rods in every window to hang my plants on! 10/10 recommend it!
Would the plants be too heavy ?
@@khanh62 I only hang smaller plants but that also allows me to hang more. I currently have 7 plants using this method.
You made coffee come out my nose 🤣 was NOT expecting that comment when discussing the hooks! You're hilarious!
😅😂
8:08 "...the....the stud?...the joist? I dunno, I'm just a little gay boy I don't know these words". Made me suddenly cackle and startled my poor kitty, LMAOoooooo 😹😹😹

Finally! A video that actually show how they're hanging up, I needed this! Thank you! 😅

Wall putty & paint will hide any lag bolt holes you might choose. It's a very simple fix so you aren't so restricted
I love your new apartment!!! All those windows!! It looks amazing!!!

I think Nick is psychic, I've literally been thinking about this lately as I've not nothing on my walls in my flat
Love the plants used as curtains and at different lengths. I want to do that in my kitchen window. Love all your 🪴🪴🪴🪴

Talk about perfect timing!!! I’m hanging a curtain rod today for my plants 😄so excited to watch!!!
I was thinking about doing that. Hope it will hold about 4 medium size plants.😊 Such a good idea.

Your addition of mirrors for reflection and lighting works great particularly in smaller spaces…👍
Love the bracket idea, Nick. Also, just a nail above the window, so simple! TFS

You can unscrew the hook part and push the screw that inside the ceiling up in the hole, then patch it 😉

I gave it a thumbs up before I even watched. First I really appreciate you Nick and secondly, I ❤️ plants and your channel. Thank you for what you do!

I was waiting for a video like this! You have been very informative, thanks so much
I picked up a couple “fancy” hangers the other day as well! Nice home jungle!
Your place is looking amaaaaaazing ✨✨
Thank Nick! Some great ideas.
lovely art on your walls nick...do share those too sometime...love your work...thanks for this video...
Amazing video nick! How in the world do you water them high plants hanging from your ceiling? Do a video please 🙏🙂
The ones on the ceiling get pulled down and put in the shower or sink, but the ones in the window stay put
I love the deep window sills. Prime plant real estate!
This was exactly the video I needed this morning! Thank you, off to hang some plants! ☺️
Girl !!! I love your display of plants and your decor ❣️
Thank you for sharing, Nick!
curtain rods also work above your windows, as do spring loaded cafe rods inside the window frame.
Love your plant family

Natural curtains :) I love it!
Toggle hook 100%. 30 years ago used a cup hook. Won’t do that again ever. I had the most beautiful spider plant until it crashed to the floor
How do you water the plants. I have a real problem getting them down to water. Have watched you for ever!
Love yo and what you do.
"Hanging plants creating such a vibe" is exactly the reason why fern bars and restaurants were once very popular.

So I need a tip. I have a Cebu Blue that is touching the floor from the ceiling now. What do I do with all the arms? I don't want to cut it.
