You heard it here first! The device offering a theoretical 30-50% performance increase at 3x the price just made Steam Deck irrelevant! Why get a Steam Deck when Ayo Neo 2 will give you 10 extra frames for a measly $800 more... 🤣

Ayaneo 2 geek is $300 more than a base steam deck after you add some decent storage, not $800 more. You are not restricted to steam os games, you can replace your desktop by plugging in an external gpu, more power, more portable, better screen, etc. Gotta love the ignorance lmao

    • @Durrutitv
      @Durrutitv ปีที่แล้ว +125

@@FAUNASO @FAUNASO after upgrading storage on mine it cost about $650 total and I have 2 terabytes, the Aya Neo 2 is still nearly double the price. Steam Deck also runs windows as well as any other x86 handheld, I literally run Xbox game pass on mine. I guess it's cool that you can use an external GPU in theory but I don't see a practical use for it, I bought my deck so that I could take my games away from my desktop not to turn it in to one. I'm sure it has a better screen, at its price point it better have a nice screen, but why would I want to spend that $550 on a better screen for my handheld when I could buy a high end monitor or a decent 4k TV for my desktop setup?
To be clear, that marginally more portable and sleek design comes at a hidden cost. Gamers Nexus did a teardown of the Aya Neo 2 and couldn't even remove the motherboard or access the screen because of it's poor component placement that's literally designed to be sleek, compact and thrown away if it breaks. On the other hand, the steam deck has a modular design intended for easy repair, Valve even did their own teardown video to demonstrate repairability and partnered with ifixit to distribute official oem repair components. You drop your Aya Neo and crack that nicer screen...it's done; I do the same with my deck and I just go to ifixit, buy a new one and install it. Your device develops stick drift, you're screwed; if mine gets drift I just unscrew the little joystick module and screw a new one in. And before you assume that you'll be able to just send it to Aya Neo, keep in mind that Aya Neo is an extremely small company who offer 1 year warranties on devices that often see sub 1000 unit manufacturing runs. Even if they offered repair services beyond their warranty period, the likelihood that they'll even have the parts to repair your device after a couple years is highly unlikely. You're not buying a handheld computer that can be maintained and used for years to come, you're buying a disposable computer.

@@WJCTechyman yeah not really sure Nintendo was never a powerhouse but they always had high quality games and the DS line with their backwards compatibility was the best thing they ever made BUT (and that's just my opinion) Nintendos quality dropped over the years by 100% most games are just cash grabs or reskins of older games (and I'm not even talking about the fact that they removed the seal of approval) if you look through the eShop you will find more hentai or cheap shovel ware software than actual good games. For the physical part the switch dock is absolutely cheap manufactured and causes the switch to overeat and scratches the screen the battery life is kinda meh and although comfortable the quality of the joy cons is just terrible. I own a switch for several years and with more than 1TB of games( barley any Nintendo exclusives ) i kinda feel qualified to say Nintendo is slowly killing it self while vale provides awesome customer service, a refund policy for their games, an awesome handheld device, one of the best (if not the best) online store for games and on top of it the deck can emulate whatever the heck you want

Diminishing returns… The steam deck has struck the perfect balance between gaming experience and price point for a hand held device. At the end of the day, what matters is which thing can deliver the best experience at the right price. Also software matters, steam can afford pushing for improvements on what is there and even influence game devs to make the games run well on their devices. Competiton is good though, maybe this will keep steam on their toes. But as an end user, I think the steam deck will deliver an all-around superior experience to this device even at its much lower price point. But I guess a youtube video with this title generates lots of clicks which was probably the point anyways ;)

One of the best things about the Steam Deck that this lacks are the trackpads; their mouse functionality is great, as well as a huge plus for is setting the dpad and face buttons to the two pads and set them to not require a click and disable haptics; it is very easy and gentle on the fingers, since it requires no pressing. After working at the computer or doing digital art all day, it's great to play a game at my bed that puts no stress on my fingers. I also prefer a mirrored controller layout; I really hate having having one joystick above the dpad and the other below the face buttons.
I mostly use my deck to play smaller/indie games, as well as emulation, so the power of the Deck will never be an issue for me, and the "big" games I do have, I just play them at my PC on a big screen to enjoy them on properly with high settings. The price of the Deck was also the limit of what I was willing to pay; I already have a good desktop, so I did not want to pay over a thousand for a handheld PC - the price of the Deck being comparable to a console was what made me get it, and I haven't owned a console since the PS3 after I switched to PC.

I've had the steam deck since it launched and although I like it and would recommend to someone who already has a console or pc as just something extra to play games on in bed or at work or something, I still prefer playing all these AAA games on an actual console or PC with the best performance and visuals possible. Your truly missing out if you decide to play games like eldon ring on the steam deck or any handheld for that matter. It's cool to see it running on a handheld but not really the way to play it.

It looks great, but I’d be interested to see if battery life improved. Also, Steam Deck is king because of price primarily. If I’m going to spend as much as Aya asks for these it’s not going to be on a handheld. Also, while I’ll occasionally play new triple A games on SD, I generally only play older titles or indies. Things I wouldn’t really play on my main rig or console. And those run amazingly as is. Hoping the market really gets going. If Aya went a bit lower on pricing I’d probably be interested. On a previous video, I commented Valve will not optimize any games but their own for the Steam Deck and a few tickled people said 'wHat ABouT pROtoN?!' I did some research on what Proton is doing and found on Steamworks an article telling us Proton translates Windows games into the program language Linux understands. That doesn't sound like optimizing games to me, just processing games to work with the device. The only thing they would be optimizing would be the rate of translation, meaning if the game plays bad on PC, it will still play bad on the Steam Deck no matter what black magic coding people think Valve would produce. Valve wants games to just work on their device, unlike what happened with SteamOS 1, Steam Link (designed to compete with the OUYA), and the hundreds of R&D devices that lead to the creation of the Steam Deck.
The two major things Valve optimized the program to work with are two Anti-Cheat programs. Easy Anti-Cheat (made by Epic Games BTW) specifically optimized for Elden Ring and BattlEye for games like PUBG, Destiny 2, Ark, Rainbow Six Siege, and many more. I also found out Fortnite uses both anti-cheat systems, which may have had some pull for Valve to optimize Proton to work with both since it is still a popular game that would sell the Steam Deck. Sure, you could play Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch, but you can't disable motion controls and you have much lower performance compared to everything else.

Especially the screen, the Ayaneo 2 absolutely destroys the Steam Deck as far as screen quality goes. The color, contrast, and brightness is all so much better. I can even run lower spec games at 1920x1200 and it looks soooo much better than the same game on the Deck at 1280x800.
Well, I guess I lied, I do like how the grips on the Steam Deck feel. I feel like I have a more secure hold of the Steam Deck, but that's not saying the Ayaneo 2 grip is poor, it's just not as deep.
I'm still going to keep my Deck, although I'm not really sure why, I've had it since March and I feel almost emotionally attached to it. Maybe I'll let my pre-teen kids play it on road trips or something. I'll have to see if Roblox will run on it.

If I going to buy a Ayaneo 2 I wouldn't buy the cheapest model knowing short cuts had to be made in order to make a profit on the hardware. What about it's tech support? I already had to send in my deck due the hardware failure as that happens with all electronics. I'm thankful for the tech support on Steam.

It baffles me that some people compare a laptop to steam deck, yes both are portable but one is much easier to use anywhere rather than a laptop, I guess it all just depends on preference. I can't imagine myself sitting in a quick train ride and having a whole laptop pulled out of the bag to play for just 10 minutes and put it back in the bag right after

is world of warcraft playable on the steam deck? cause that game requires a mouse and keyboard I think, like is there a way to connect a mouse and keyboard to the steam deck?

Ultimately competition is good for the consumer & it's good to see where performance is for APUs, and how far it can be pushed, but the Steam Deck is just unbelievably good value

I personally still pick the steam deck even if the prices were more comparable. Ordered one the other day, super excited for it. I have a decent gaming pc to run triple A stuff basically maxed out (not quite), but what i dont have is just a quick, easy, and painless way to just game for short periods, to tackle that backlog (of mostly older or indie games) little by little. If im not binging a game I always have real trouble deciding on what to play, always worrying if this time spent sat at my desk could be more efficiently spent playing a different game; i am hoping the supposedly seamless expierence of the steam deck could help me minimise that and just enjoy gaming again.

Steam Deck for the win, the compatibility and support you get from steam with updates etc is unbeatable. Steam Deck is here to stay and will only improve with time, I have heard ayaneo just makes something new and gives no support or updates because they want you to buy their newest system where as steam is improving the deck and its possibilities daily and for the long run. I love my Steam Deck!

This is not a SeamDeck competitor. The price of this clearly states that.

Definitely interested in devices like this when I came to replace my computer. I do wonder if we will see Microsoft attempt an xbox version or Windows version.

I would love to see how the neo 2 perform with steam os if it was optimized for it and battery life since it’s less demanding than windows.😊

I'm way behind on streams so my favorite part of this video is seeing the new horse by surprise.

I know that it would be much better if the Steam Deck came with a better screen but ever since I installed Decky loader and ran Vibrant Deck, it's night and day. I used to be salty that my Switch Oled and Vita (Oled) looked better than something as powerful as my Steam Deck. That's no longer the case.

So, the first thing I did was check the pricing, even before watching the video. The Steam Deck will remain relevant as long as the only things that are better than it start at a 40% higher price. And that's comparing the least expensive version of these things to the most expensive Deck. Like yeah, a $4k laptop is going to be better than a one that only costs $800, but it's not going to be better enough for what I use it for to justify it.
I spent years sort of wanting one of these handhelds, but the only real options were Atom-based crap (that was still expensive for the performance), and $1k+ items with significant flaws. The Steam Deck has made them step up their game significantly in terms of the latter, but the fact remains that the Steam Deck is the only handheld like this that could be considered midrange. The only ways that it could become irrelevant is if they pull a Nintendo and never update the processor, or if someone releases something competent enough in the $500-ish price point.

the biggest thing that makes the steam deck always win out for me is i don’t like the right thumb stick placed low. i hate that it comes down to something as fickle as that but it does for me
