Hey Man, much appreciated vid, again, as many people with a negative experience out shout those with a good experience by many fold, but if you do a lot of boring laborious searching you can find that there are many more happy owners than unhappy.

I’ve had the CSL DD since around January I believe. And I’ve loved every minute of it.

Great stuff! My experience has been the same with the CSL DD with the boost kit. I was able to get in on the second wave of pre-orders when it first came out. Had a G27 prior to this wheel. Well worth the cost!

@@misterpacha1 you just have to get the right steering wheel for it to work on Xbox from my understanding. The security chip xbox needs is in the wheel, while if you have a playstation you need the right wheelbase, cause the Playstation has it inside the wheelbase

Stumbled across your channel recently as I just ordered the CSL DD 8Nm.
Hopefully mine is as trouble free as your has been - I was somewhat apprehensive given Fanatec’s less than stellar reputation of hardware and software issues. Then again, there are definitely more happy folks than unhappy folks.
Time will tell with my experience once I get it!

Not yet! Supposed to arrive on Monday the 30th, or worst case on the 31st. Looks like my Halloween will be a treat instead of a trick - all good by me!
I did receive my Clubsport 320mm wheel today though, love the quality…suffice to say it’s quite a big step up from all my old Thrustmaster gear!
@chrise.400 I'm coming from thrustmaster too. I like everything better. I am selling my thrustmaster gear. All of it works great still.
I’m praying I can get my hands on a DD soon. I’ve 100% outgrown my G920, and don’t feel like switching the Thrustmaster for the TSPC. I’d rather go straight to Fanatec, but I’ve heard rumors that they probably won’t release any more 5nm which is disappointing.
Hey dude! Oh really?! I didn’t know that 😮 if it means anything I went from the g29 to the 8nm CSL DD and it was the perfect transition. I don’t know if I would have liked the 5nm version as much 🤷🏼♂️

Big CSL DD fan here. Wheelbase is AMAZING and rock solid for the money. However there are always issues and here are mine. Still a huge Fanatec fan:
The QR-Lite is not strong enough for 8nm. Make sure you get a QR-1 wheel side hub with every wheel.
The drive shaft can work itself loose due to insufficient tightening at the factory, and start a firmware update loop. An easy fix, loosen C-clamp, pull and reseat hub shaft (bulletproof USB-C connection) and retighten C-clamp two turns harder than you think is good enough.
The shifter is amazing, but the hall sensors can get "twitchy" and miss shifts or slip gear. Opening up the shifter box (CAREFULLY so as not to yank out sequential wires. Watch videos FIRST) and adjusting them is possible and does not violate warranty.
The WRC Rally Wheel, also the BMW wheel, basically the cheapest round wheel is functional but far too plastic for my taste. Spend the $400 or more for a proper wheel.
I love the Universal Hub V2. Unless you really need a GT specific wheel the universla hub should give you all the buttons you need and you can use it with small and large rims.
I use VR so I cannot see all the awesome dials and such for many wheels so memorizing buttons on the universal is great for all types of racing from rally to F3.
I have the handbrake and it is a game changer for rally and any car that uses it. Just works after plugging it into the wheelbase.
This person has been very lucky that no configuration or maintenance issues have occurred. SIm Racing is in transition from a very DIY hobby to a commoditized, boxable experience available in a store. I would still strongly recommend the sim racing enthusiast be ready to use tools, open up and configure the hardware, learn about the computing environment, the drivers, the entire system as we would our actual race car should we have been so blessed. A huge side effect of this process is to be able to precisely tune the settings of the CSL DD and hopefully the V3 Pedals to maximize the experience.

I actually cannot confirm the issue regarding the QR Lite. If been using it for about 8 Months now with the 8NM Version on the Mclaren V2 and had no issues. I kind of like it even a bit more than the QR1 as it has less play.

Is the qr light good enough for the 5nm?
Just leaving this here in case someone runs into something similar. I was having issues with the fanatech shifter when mounted on an aluminum rig. Where in certain games, namely Dirt 2.0, it would randomly pop out of gear in game without touching the shifter itself. It ended up being caused by some weird electrical interference between the csl dd and the shifter when both mounted to the aluminum rig. Once I isolated the shifter from the aluminum rig with a piece of acrylic and nylon washers the problem immediately went away. Other than that annoying problem it's worked great thus far.
It doesn’t crash, because the crashing is done elsewhere Kappa. Just kidding, great video mate. I’m still very happy with my wheel and pedals, but would take your word for this if I were to upgrade

Love mine. Only complaints is the quick release on the clubsport wheel having slop (the seal) but thas no fault of the csl dd.

@@KyleSpoor Apparently its a known issue with that quick release. Supposedly a second seal comes with the wheel/release but i don't remember getting one. I need to contact fanatec about it.

I just got a CSL DD. I upgraded from the CSW 2.5. There is a difference between the two as far as the quick release. The CSW 2.5 has an O-Ring that is also around the wheelbase shaft. This takes away the play the everyone is talking about on the CSL DD. The play is very minor and generally doesn’t bother me. Because it doesn’t have the O-Ring the quick release works better as there is less drag.
Btw - The CSL DD is ever so slightly better than the CSW 2.5 in performance. The DD has the ability to output the really fine “noise” details from road textures or loss of grip. Both wheelbases are fantastic and have had zero issues w my CSW. The CSW was sooo good for a belt wheel. It’s an amazing piece of sim equipment too!

A fan isn't needed it doesn't get that hot at all. I have the GT DD Pro so I can use it with any system, had a few issues but was self inflicted (don't use a USB extension). You won't be disappointed with it at all, I plan on getting the Formula V2.5 X wheel on Black Friday myself.
well you can play FH5 with it in compatibility mode, when the power button turns green. Except that then the game crashes randomly. An issue that hasn't been fixed in 6 months, happens with every fanatec setup. Someone said rolling back the firmware version fixed it but yeah....you can, technically, but actually can't...It's also possible to use vjoy driver but the FF sucked...so frustrating...
Hey dude! Yea I’ve heard there’s ways we can use vjoy and rolling back firmware. It’s strange to me that FH4 works fine still but FH5 doesn’t hahaha I guess we will just need to wait for for a to get it sorted properly so the game works out the box
people with issues are self made, like being too rough when turning, having the torque too high constantly with maximum FFB and over tightening the QR which fair to say FANATEC tell you not to do, ive seen one user literally rip the wheel off the shaft because they were fighting with it too much, the other known problem is users tend to put it on a sim rig mount that's not strong so when turning the rig is moving causing more wear on the QR, so i think use it sensibly, and dont wrag it too much.
with anything if you use it extremely and excessively it will break.
ive had my unit a year and had no issues because i use it with a point in mind don't put the settings on too high and use a stable surface to mount it on.
respect the fact everything breaks so take that bit extra care to prevent that.
I just got mine and it when it's turned on, even with the PC off, I can feel a slight static feeling on the wheel. This morning it was super rough and I could feel it while driving. Sometimes it goes away but I also feel like the center of the wheel feels weak, like if I go over kerbs in a straight line I can not feel them as much, but if I turn I do. The worst part is that I'm outside the US and can't RMA because shipping it back is more expensive than the wheel itself. FML

Just a tiny correction, the cable that you use to plug your shifter/pedals to the wheel base is not proprietary, it's a standard RJ12 telephone cable :)

Though I haven’t had my CSL DD in the same time frame, everything here is accurate, with one exception: I always have to use the set pin with my wheel, otherwise the QR will move a bit whenever I hit the middle of the steering angle and go back and forth. The set pin keeps it in place with no movement, but this is fine because I only use one rim

I suspect your issue is power related. The CSL DD draws a LOT of current and needs to be thoroughly grounded. try a different outlet or a known grounded one. Make sure drivers are up to date and such.
I drive the MP4 in Assetto on Monza '66 and get a real workout fighting to keep the car on the track and have never experienced what you describe. Hopefully not a bad unit. They are pretty tough.
@@ThisOldTechGuy I think it was something wrong with the firmware. Used a beta motor firmware, which didn't work, but when I reverted to the default firmware from my driver package it was gone. However, now my pedals go to 100% with the slightest touch, but I just have to press them fully every time I turn on the wheel so it goes down to 0% on its travel back.
@@JohnnyEMatos even after recalibrating in the fanatec control software? You can manually set all pedal travel.
Kyle I have done the same with my DD Pro way too many times also. I work from home so at least I notice usually with 8 hours.

I can’t play Forza Horizon 5 with any of my 3 wheelbases. They all cause the game to crash on pc. I really wish Microsoft would fix the problem.
