Nah, you have fucked up your life now. 5 years assuming to be unable to fix your life is just lazy and irresponsible. No pity for you.

I feel the same. Nearly 4 years for me.
I switched jobs 2 years ago and took 2 vacations. Still feel dead most of the time. My previous job was a high-stress, fast-pace startup. The body was screaming it needed rest but my mind was hyper focussed on the delivery. Then the mind just shutdown.
Years later I’m employed elsewhere after forcing myself through Leetcode but I don’t even remember much of anything. Every week feels the same. Every weekend I lay in bed trying to muster back some energy and motivation. I can’t even imagine doing anything “productive” and wind up spending time relaxing just to prevent myself from going deeper into exhaustion.
      Some things that help:
      1. Isolation (COVID lockdowns were a blessing from above)
      2. Change in mentality. Don’t be Type A personality. Relax and be patient. Demand that from others.
      3. Sleep and take frequent breaks
      4. Cut out whatever stresses you from you life so that you can reduce anxiety

@@mecanuktutorials6476yeah I keep switching jobs. Helps for a few months, but then I'm right back into it. I know it's not sustainable either.

I have been feeling burn out for almost 4 years now and I still could not take a break because of my own circumstances.
I have cut off lots of things from my life to keep my energy but because the main thing that makes me burn out could not be cut, it just kept gettivn worst.

You might need to look deeper into whats the actual cause, so that you can recover it from the root. What have you tried so far to fix your problem?

The biggest reason for burnout is a dead-end/crap job you don't like, but have a feeling that it isn't possible to find a new one, better suited for you, also there's an attachment/comfort in your job, you got used to it even if you hate it there.
The best honest advice i can give is, build enough income to switch it, or to invest in something you're interested in (business, hobby, project, etc...), instead of trying to compromise or switch perspective on things, cause usually it's not gonna improve and you'll keep wasting your time on people you don't like and job you don't want to do, even if you're good at it.

Although, sometimes it's not the job itself, it's the team you work with. Some companies vary depending on which store and location you look at. All of the customers in my perimeter are awful, rude and agressive, and I know there are worse neighborhoods. The one thing I know is, this has to be my last retail job. I'm burnt out and can't find where else to go

Im now 4 months at home after i burnt out. Im from the Netherlands and i get paid the same when im sick. I cant emagine how it would be when you must work while burnt out because if you dont you wont get paid and you get even more stress on top of the burn out.
Here you have around 2 years of being sick and get paid at the same time. You also get mental help from work because of the waiting list a psy of about 10 months
Even i dont feel a bit better now no mather what i do or dont do

So like 23 years of trauma and 5 years of non stop working with no goals in place and now I’m burnt out. It’s been like almost 6 months. I’ve been doing instacart to get by but other than that I just wanna sleep and be outside and have silence.

Continuing to fight against it only digs you further into burnout. Finding ways to self nurture...avoiding sources of stress might mean eliminating energy draining interactions.

I had to be admitted to intensive therapy two years ago due to burnout. Disability and the whole thing. I have just this week quit a job due to burnout. Even taking "a few days away" would not have helped. In fact, due to coming back to a massive tsunami of tasks, it would have made it worse. I'm taking a break, planning some gig work and hope to find something in my industry that allows me to work to live not live to work.
