@ My saved data was saved to the cloud and was there when I started playing the games I had already played. This may be connected to my paid PlayStation membership.
I believe the catch is that the new ps5 and your old one BOTH have to be up to date, that way the update file on the ssd will match the new ps5. Not doing this might cause a reformat

Make sure your PS Account is on both Consoles and then the Data swap works for me. PS5 to PS5 Pro first make sure your Acount is already on the Pro and then put the Ssd in the PS5 Pro then you can play the old Data from your old ps5

So I've been using my launch PS4 (which you can see a huge performance difference). I've been debating on buying another PS5, because back in the day, PS3 would make you reformat. It had an encryption that STILL to this day has not been broken so you lose your stuff indefinitely unless having the original PS3 fixed. I guess enough people threatened Sony's well-being enough that they decided they better not do that again.

From my experience you can only have a copy of a game or app in an external drive and m.2 or the external and console storage. Not both m.2 SSD and console though cuz the PS5 reads the m.2 internal extra storage as console storage regardless in the library

Do you remember when you swap the SDD if the games patches followed or the PS5 re-downloaded them since there are on the main sdd. I'm asking because I did switch my external HDD from the PS4 to the PS5 and all the games patches had to be re-downloaded, so I figured there all on the main drive in the PS4.
