I wish they would add the feature from the PS4 where you could transfer PS4 to PS4/5 with an Ethernet cable. Edit: Okay. Correction: As of March 2023 you can now transfer ps5 to ps5 over wifi or Ethernet. However you couldn't at the time this video was released in January 2022.

At the time this video released the LAN cable method was not available. Now it is so use that. It will be significantly faster a Cat6 cable will do 10 gbps a usb will only do 5 gbps.

@@paulpaul3798 I actually did just transfer my external SSD and my m.2 SSD the expansion one you can buy and install, I had that on my old one that burned out if you don’t have any extra memory on yours then you don’t have to do anything but start the setup process in your new one and sign in, as I went through the setup process it had me sign in to playstation network and everything transferred over I just had to redownload some of the games that were showing up in the extra SSD it showed the game in my library but when I clicked on it there was a prompt to download game , some I had to redownload and some were there depends what you have backed up to the cloud I guess, I just winged it and redownloaded what I saw I had to and once starting the games all the content of the games was the same like progress and stats and I didn’t loose anything that I noticed been using the new one since this post and all is good… the only other thing I did I had to search up a video but if you have access to the the PlayStation app that’s linked to your ps5 there is a way to go in there and deactivate the old ps5 as your primary so you can set the new one as the primary that’s one other thing I had to do but I had the app on my phone that was linked so I just signed into the app and I forget the video I watched for the steps to do it but there was a few on that, not deactivating your old one will cause some problems when trying to play your games. I would search that up and deactivate your old one before starting up new one.

I have an extended storage device and when I go to click backup it says there’s no usb recognised. If I copy all the games on my console storage to the storage device do I still need to backup?

Hi! I don’t believe so, because the saved data is tied to that individual account. If you try anything, always make a backup.
You will only get your data if it's the same account. Meaning you'd have to put your account on that persons PS5 to use it.

It doesn’t matter, but you can plug into the blue USB ports (USB 3.0) for faster transferring.

Theres a lot of videos out there , but use a Ethernet cable , plug one end to the ps4 and the other one to the ps5 and make sure they are both on wifi

Go to storage and on the extra option on the external drive format it to exFat and it should work

I would try to use a different USB Port or try reformatting your USB stick/Use a different USB Stick and try again.
