    Can you please do a video of everything you should do when receiving the bike for the first time? Also what tools you should invest in to keep the bike in good shape? Thank you so much for your videos, you're awesome!

      So funny thing, I actually have several videos on how to set the bike up from the start. Here are the videos: pre start checklist: th-cam.com/video/80Kfqy4ZhkU/w-d-xo.html
      Things to check after first few miles: th-cam.com/video/9KfviEEG2zQ/w-d-xo.html
      So a couple things, I would replace the stock chain right away. Also, every video Iv done to the hawk is on this playlist so I’d highly recommend checking it out. there is a lot of useful info on the playlist. Hawk playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLCqZY9vEtcDwxmZpWo6t9FFktQXy5gJxg.html as for the second part of the question, you really can use a plethora of tools, but in reality you can almost rebuild the whole bike with the tool kit the bike comes with and a crescent wrench lol. I’d recommend a metric socket set, metric wrenches, tire spoons, it’s hard to really list all the tools you might use but again you can do a lot with just the hawk 250 tool kit. Hopefully this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Hey this is a friend's phone she allowed me to use it I saw your video and subscribed so just letting you know I'm a guy using a girl-friends phone. Back to the point. I recently got to do some trade work for a 2017 hawk not fuel Injected, it has 833 or so miles and got wrecked the frame seems good no hair fractures from what I'm able to see yet the rear swing arm bolt has a nut on the battery side broken off is it risky to ride like this? Also any suggestions on starting it like take it to a hill and pop clutch or does it need to be In neutral when starting it by kick start? Thanks and cool videos simple to the point and easy to follow.

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can’t recommend you ride the bike, you really need an expert to look at it. Iv dealt with frames a lot, it’s surprising what you will miss even as an expert. I actually have a whole video on cold starting the hawk 250 that you should go check out, it’s towards the top of the hawk 250 playlist. Best recommendation to keep the bike running the first time it fired, DO NOT LET IT STALL ONCE ITS RUNNING. The hawk likes to start cold one time, if it shuts off it won’t want to start again.

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I always say better safe than sorry. I haven’t had any problems out of my bike and this is how I change the oil every time, I have over 2,000 miles on the bike so far. I also want to add that it’s hard to mess up changing the oil on a bike. These engines with older technology will run almost any oil, Iv ran transmission fluid before (for a day, which I don’t recommend) my neighbor ran used diesel truck oil in his Honda foreman for many many years, the thing still runs like a top today. My advice is any oil is better than no oil (obviously) BUT the better you follow the oil change procedures the longer your engine will last! Hopefully this makes sense lol. Thanks for watching!

    Have you sent the oil off to get tested yet? And if so how much life did the oil have. Thank you so much for clarifying to change oil sooner then 4000 miles.

    • @goodolboys713

      No worries! I have not sent the oil to be tested, although I have at least 1000 miles since the last oil change so it’s about time to send it in

    Do you use the dip stick when the bike is on the kick stand or in vertical position

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, I’ve done it both ways. Normally I use a combination of the sight glass, and the dipstick itself. Usually right around a quart and a half or two is what I run. Depending on where you want your oil level about a quart and a half of oil is perfect, but again it really depends on your preference. I like to run a little extra oil in my bike personally. Hopefully this helps, thanks for watching!

    Manual states 15w-40 but you are using 10w-40... what would be best?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use 10w-40 because is good for a wide range of temperatures (as seen on the chart in the manual), typically with any type of equipment or machine there is a couple different oil choices to choose from, the hawk is one of those machines where there are a handful of oil options to run. I recommend looking over the chart, choose oil that will work best for your areas climate/temperature range. Hopefully this helps, Thanks for watching!

    So, this bike doesn’t have an oil filter to change?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct! Unfortunately there is no oil filter, however this bike is built to standards from back in the 80’s when not even Honda’s had oil filters. Yes I would like a filter, but Iv found the screen seems to be working just fine. Thanks for watching!

    I feel like a dumb ass but I can’t find no Information on that sf rating?? I have read it’s outdated standards? For instance I used valvoline 4 stroke synthetic. But I couldn’t find that rating. Hell I can’t find on most Motorcycle oil brands. What’s your take on this?

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My personal opinion is that you are not going to go wrong with Honda GN4 motorcycle oil, it’s specifically designed for motorcycles, fourwheelers and their whole lineup. It’s probably the oil I would trust most over all other brands. That being said I have ran the cheapest harvest king (rural king brand) oil for 1,000 miles in the hawk. Is it ideal? No. But as I always I say any oil is better than no oil. There are at least 100 different stories I could tell about oil that would blow your mind lol. Main thing is don’t run the bike out of oil, and run the right vescosity. It’s hard to run the wrong viscosity considering the hawk will run on so many different viscosity’s. Hopefully this helps, thanks for watching!

    • @John-Anderson
      @John-Anderson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just bought some 10 w 40 full synthetic the othrr day and im ready to change my oil again im up to about 1100 miles

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So, I’m no expert on oil, however I have been changing oil since I can remember. So here is my two cents. Synthetic oil is generally always considered better oil when compared to conventional. Synthetic is better for many reasons but mostly because you can run synthetic oil for longer before it needs changed. With that being said conventional or synthetic oil will be perfectly fine in the hawk. In all honesty the difference is, how often do you want to change your oil, if you go with conventional oil change your oil more often. If you go with synthetic oil you can go for longer oil change intervals. Hopefully this helps! Thanks for watching!

    One problem your bike was on the side when you were checking the oil your bike is supposed to be straight and level not on it's side you may not have enough oil or too much and don't use sightglass extremely misleading

    I’m just wondering what type of gas the bike takes ?

    • @ubaldojoshua1229
      @ubaldojoshua1229 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Run anything higher than 90 because I got mine yesterday and the dealer had put the cheapest gas and it ran really hot and when I put in 93 it started running cooler

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The manual recommends 90 or above, I haven’t noticed any real difference between 87 and 93. I ran one tank of 93 and the rest of the 2,640 miles have all been 87 octane. I really don’t see any need to run 93 in my honest opinion. Thanks for watching!

    • @ubaldojoshua1229
      @ubaldojoshua1229 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then idk y mine doesn’t seem to like 87 it runs a little warmer and is it supposed to run at 270 degrees??is that normal

    • @goodolboys713
      @goodolboys713  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ubaldojoshua122 it all depends on how the bike is setup, how hard you run it, jetting, spark plug, how you have the bike geared. (It depends on a lot of factors) in all honesty air cooled bikes runs a lot hotter as well. The two key things you need to do to keep a bike cool is re jet, and make sure it’s geared right for your usage. The key is low rpm. I cruise around at 6,000-6,500 rpm (which is kind of pushing it IMO) I try to keep the bike @ 5,500 rpm or lower and In all honesty, the bike is very happy at about 4,000 rpm. I have two mods which really make the bike, 110 main jet on stock carb, and 16 tooth front, 42 tooth rear sprockets. I ride 50/50 on and off road. On 87 pump gas, the Bike runs like it’s supposed to.. One thing that is a constant for these bikes is the fact that every one of them is different. You have some people that have to completely change the carburetor, some people don’t need to re jet the carburetor at all. The point is every bike is different and you need to do what makes your bike run best. Hopefully this clarified everything. And As said before I have ran the bike hard on 87 pump gas for 2600 miles, no sign of any wear on the bike, no oil burning or usage, the bike is practically like new in the engine department. For that reason alone I would say the majority of people can run 87 pump gas. That’s my two cents, Thanks for watching and commenting!
