I wanted to throw a little bonus note here in the comments: While Joy Mecha fight is definitely a little rough by today's standards, I'd still highly recommend it. The game is playable through Fightcade, and has a small community! If you're interested in checking the game out there's a small discord community, consider showing the game some support! The Uchu Mecha Fight guys also kinda have faces that kinda remind me of Dynamite Headdy's Hangman, and some of the other characters from that game. Funny thing is that Dynamite Headdy's also a character with detachable limbs.
I've always been a big fan of Joy Mech Fight (my entire channel's characters are inspired by it lol), so seeing a big TH-camr like you talk about the game makes me super happy! I remember being blown away when I played it on an emulator and wondered why didn't anyone talk about it. And I also remember being overjoyed (heh) when Sukapon was put into Smash as an Assist, the game was released on NSO and also how, subsequently, a lot of fangames started to include JMF content. And Uchu Mega Fight looks amazing as well! I haven't played much of it but I enjoyed what I did play. I only tried out Joy Mode because I wanted something closer to the original game, but now I really have to try out more rounds using the two other fighting modes because they look insane! I am also definitely a fan of the character that's a stick figure with super long limbs, that's very clever.
after seeing sukapon in smash bros i really wanted to know what game he was from why cant we get joy mech fight and mother 3 on the nes online! edit: after a nice chat with another commenter i have something else to add: Screw you nintendo
@@thatguykekai2601 NES and SNES respectively. Mother 3 was gonna be on N64 but things happened that I don't have the time to get into that moved the game onto GBA
Hopefully Uchu Mega Fight's existence and Sukapon's appearance in Smash will prompt Nintendo to introduce JMF to the west in some way. She'd be a fitting guest character in an ARMS sequel.

Normal and Joy Hasshi are pretty straightforward, their range is probably the best in the game, but as a cost their movement and attacks are quite slow. If they try to approach, know that a large portion of their kit is unsafe on block. If they want to keep zoning you out, you can either try winning the projectile war (specials will do more chip than Hasshi's normals), or approaching after blocking attacks to safely move in. Choy Hasshi still has the same weakness for the most part, but has much more dangerous burst movement thanks to no longer needing charge. His range is much lower so gaining range advantage isn't impossible, but look out for his insane movement, it still has high endlag so you can usually punish on block. The exception is the back special which sometimes you just have to accept is safe, but if you see it coming in some matchups you can punish it with a reversal. One last thing to note is that hasshi's arms aren't disjoints, so you can hit them either to challenge them or to counter after a long range block.

They should try to make a sequel. This game could be really cool. I see elements that they put into Arms, but that game sucks and has minimal depth
