Actually, on the topic of Shattered Men, there's a video called, "The Mystery of the Mole Playin' Rough" that goes in depth on cutscene flags and status ailments in the overworld that directly relates to why having a Shattered Man defeat you during the Epilogue causes this visual mess. The Epilogue is considered a cutscene, so no wild encounters spawn. The Shattered Men in the museum are not wild encounters, but sort of static, so they stay loaded in. I think the Mole Playing Rough you encounter in the desert flips a switch in the game's code that enables wild encounters and overworld ailments to trigger for you right after you defeat it. The Shattered Men in Summers do not.
7:07 I think I know why this happens. The bike bell sound is part of the bike song's soundfont, so when the phone call changes the song back to Twoson's theme, the bike tries to play the same instrument, but gets its equivalent in the Twoson theme instead, which happens to be a horn. This same effect is actually used later in the game for Magicant's footstep sounds and the clanking footsteps in Cave of the Past. Those also glitch out if the robot transformations or pajama Ness are brought into areas with different music.
Can confirm this is true. Playing with the Ancient Cave randomizer's custom music reveals that a lot of sound effects are handled this way, such as the door opening and closing sounds, the sound for wading through water (like in the Fourside sewers and Deep Darkness), as well as the sound for walking up and down stairs.
Of course the Threed tent debug screen would be obsessed with zombies, you have to use the tent to trap the zombies. That's just the tent freaking out - said tent was initially an enemy, after all.
It may be convoluted to bring up the debug menu, but at least it's not Majora's Mask, where you have to play the Song of Soaring what feels like eight billion times to bring up a debug menu - on TOP of being a Wii U exclusive glitch.
I remember (and probably a lot of people too) Chuggaconroy messing with the corner of the tent to see all the nonsense that spawns from there. Which was really neat. Or I guess the opposite of neat as the case may be.
9:04 Someone made a video about it. You can also do it with the Mani Mani statue too. In fact, it's believed that one mole in the desert exists solely to prevent it from happening.
This game's glitches are a beauty to watch, same for speedruns involving them. Big fan of the Any% No Debug runs makign use of them + a lot of RNG manipulation. it's always pleasure to see people upload onett skip videos because I made the setup back in 2019. Anyway, if you're trying this with either file 2 or 3, you need to do different inputs a bit because moving cursor updates RNG once per a input. Here's a workaround: - Press down to select file 2 (or up for file 3) - Press d-pad in any directions seven times then hit Continue. (Pressing either up or down is easiest imo) - L then close menus instead of double As After doing those alternative inputs, you can do the rest exactly same since RNG is lined up at outside of hotel. Also, text speed must be set to fast before attempting because text speed also affects RNG.

I just went on YT after grinding for 5 hours to get Sword of Kings and this is the first video on my recommended. There could not have been better video to wind down to.
The only reason I even found this channel was because I wanted to know more about mario galaxy glitches when I was young. A few years later, I figured i owed the channel a sub and here I still am. Glad AStart is still ok.
Listening to this video while knowing a lot about glitches and nothing about Earthbound is a peak experience. Some of these sections sounded like absolute word salad to me and yet somehow it all made sense.
the staircase glitch is always a fun thing to mess around usually videos i see showcasing it don't show off the other thing you can do with it which is being able to walk through walls on any file you load after gaming over on the staircase to do that simply game over on any staircase (I usually do that in Threed after saving in a hotel when i have a party member with a status effect like a cold that can cause a game over in the overworld) after that make your way back to the title screen by selecting No then Yes load up any save file you want and enjoy walking through walls wherever you saved really fun messing around with this glitch i usually keep a separate save slot incase i want to activate it
I really want to find more in-depth research about the Check Area glitch. There are very distinct patterns that occur more frequently, and knowing how to manipulate them would be really fun.
I remember watching son of a glitch episode when i was in elementary school for stuff like super mario galaxy (which was new at the time). I started playing Earthbound a few days ago and lo and behold: a son of a glitch for it!
The Check Area Glitch is the main reason I go back to playing this game. I have the debug menu open at the tent, and I just watch this game burn. Using it I have: Encountered and beat up Titanic Ant in his summer home in Saturn Valley, ordered a medium pizza which caused the game to return to the start up but everything was repeated, got returned to a glitchy home menu where I tried to start a new file of Earth ound, Managed to call dad and SAVE THE GAME right outside the Starman Ultra fight, and finally, thanks to the power of savestates, beat the game with party members I wasn’t supposed to have, with a bunch of sound effects jumbled, and somehow, someway, in means I have never replicated since, spawned Buzz Buzz back into my party. Earthbound means a lot to me, and I love watching it burn.
Yeah, I was watching a stream recently where the streamer investigated the Threed tent glitch. Not only did she get the glitch, she didn't even hardlock her game!
Added little nugget for the Threed Tunnel Skip, there's a very small chance you get BODIED. There's a small chance an enemy will be outside of the tunnel and if you bump into it during the automatic walking you're forced into a Threed Battle with only Ness. Good luck!
9:05 I think you can do this glitch after you save the Runaway Five, right before you go on the tour bus if you go all the way back to Happy Happy village and fight mondo mole (and die) the same glitch happens. You do have to get all the way out of the cave blind though…
Every playthrough now kind of fizzles out whenever I get to threed. I get too into messing with the zombie tent spot. I've gotten the debug menu twice from that corner by mashing buttons and sheer luck. I've loved the game for almost 30 years now and it's cool that I'm still finding some mysteries

the threed tent glitch is so fun to do, i have a save state of a glitchy debug menu and get different results every time i teleport somewhere
