I have the Fossil Gen 5 & I think it does more than "80% of the apple watch" you said. The only difference is EKG & direct calling from the apple. It has everything else the same including sleep monitoring, Google assistant(siri), 2way messaging, and a TON of customizations including hundreds of custom watch faces that make it look WAYYYY better than the apple watch. I LOVE MY FOSSIL WATCH!

On watch, home button, select Wellness app, scroll to bottom, tap gear, tap account, tap account log in & follow prompts. This will sync wellness app with Google fit. Go to phone, open fit app, tap journal, tap smartwatch in top right corner, once check mark appears on smartwatch icon tap the refresh button next to it, go back to the home button & it should be synced. I had to give mine a couple minutes & then it synced all the wellness app data.

@@AndrewSap I would highly suggest to choose either the Fossil Gen 5 (Carlyle) or the Falster 3. Both have the snapdragon 3100. The Gen 4 and Falster 2 have the older 2100. Also no speaker on Fossil Gen 4. Gen 5 does.
Because my boyfriend's birthday is tomorrow, I decided to give him a smartwatch. I was going to choose between the Fossil Gen 5 or an Apple watch. I really had to think about it for a while because we both love Apple devices but we hate those ugly ass watches. Since he has an iPhone, an Apple watch would be a more logical choice as it will offer him more options. For example, he wants to be able to pay with his smartwatch. That won't be possible for him with a Fossil watch, only with an Apple watch. Still, I ultimately chose Fossil. Real men wear a nice, masculine watch. Not an Apple watch. Its design looks so childish. And there's nothing sexy about a guy with a kid's watch.
apple watch straps are probably easier because most straps are low quality, gen 5 you actual can get old school straps i dont know not to sure but just order a gen 5 with stainless steel straps
You can actually take the apple watch band slide off of most bands & use the pin mechanism for the 42mm fossil watches. I've done that with 2 bands already & have a couple in my cart to buy so I have even more color options. You can even buy regular non-smart watch bands at the store & they will work on the fossil smartwatch.
@Colonel Sanders It was on the fossil store uk. First the fathers day sale too it down to £189. A honey coupon of 15% to £160 and another 30% coupon form their customer service because they lost my previous order which was meant to be the gen 4 - I still got a refund for it haha

Reliability is an issue with the fossil gen 5. Gone through 2 of them in the course of a year. Buyer beware.
in my opinion both look rubbish , I prefer my protrek it lags a bit but I prefer the look of it (wear os with heart rate monitor)
