So you’ve just bought your first Apple Watch or want to brush up on the essentials, well you’ve come to the right place! In this video I will go over everything you need to know to get started with your new Apple Watch! I will be demonstrating this on my Apple Watch Series 7 however this also applies to the Apple Watch SE as well as the Apple Watch Series 3,4,5 or 6. Tour. Left side has the side button, microphone and digital crown. Right side has the speaker. Back houses all sensors, heat rate, ECG, blood oxygen and more. Add and remove watch bands using two button on the back. Use Series 7 to charge 33% faster. Swipe from top down for notifications. Swipe from bottom up to access control centre. Quick access to many features: turn on/off wifi, ping phone, turn on silent mode, flash light. Swipe from left to right to switch between watch faces. Press and hold watch face to add a new watch face. Click digital crown to enter the home screen. Top settings to change. Turn on audio update. Change brightness and turn on always on display. Tune sound and haptics. Turn off “hey siri” to save battery. Press side button to access multitasking. Quickly switch between two most recent open apps by double clicking the digital crown. Double press the side button to use Apple Pay. Press and hold side button to turn off, show medical ID or start and emergency call. That gives you a look at the Apple Watch Series 7 essentials!

Mute a ringing iPhone by putting your palm over the watch face. Great if you just don't want to answer the call. That and the weather options...great to know that a rain shower is minutes away.

The Watch faces are brilliant. Each one is equally gorgeous and function. Great tip about the Complications possibly using more battery. My $4k watch is being semi-retired by this amazing $400 watch / and everything it does Inc health monitoring. It’s really a bargain.

I absolutely love my Apple Watch 7. I am 50 years old and I have never wanted to wear a watch but, this watch is amazing. I use it when I hike, it works so well while driving and navigating using Apple maps because I don't need to glance down at my phone to see where I am at in relation to my destination. I can glance on my wrist while driving, much safer. I went into settings on my iPhone (apple watch app) and set dock to favorites so I can quickly get to the apps I use all of the time. It’s actually a lesser known “secret” feature of the 7 series, it can detect the age of anyone over 100 which automatically unlocks the “life force” mode quite literally providing up to 50% energy boost when you start feeling especially tired. The watch’s “Cupid mode” will make you feel sexy but the phone battery will take a pretty big hit. Enjoy & well done for reaching such an impressive age. 5:26 - The red flashlight mode is useful at night because it allows you to see while not resetting your night vision. Like when you get up at 3 am and you don't want to walk into the end of the bed or step on your shoes or something. It also helps a lot during stargazing.

5:28 the red color is not for an sos signal, it’s a softer flashlight that is less distracting to others. This is because red is the least distinguishable color for the human eye, while green has the most detectable shades for the human eye. (That’s why military night vision googles show shades of green, it’s the best shade to do it in)

I am a mechanical watch afficionado, but have just ordered an Apple Watch Series 7 GPS - so I am very anxious to see if the Apple Watch will be able to compete for wrist space with my other watches (I do NOT like double wristing) 🙂 I have had one of the first Apple Watches before, but found that it just was not a worthwhile trade-up compared to my mechanical watches, so I sold it again. However I do also use a Garmin Fenix watch for work-out, running etc.
I have been an iPhone user for more than a decade and will never go back to Android or any other system - same goes for computers, where my MacBook is just a part of my daily life. So I am hoping that the new Apple Watch Series 7 with the latest Watch OS will bring this all together and making it worthwhile for me to put on my wrist instead of my other watches (at least most of/some of the time) 🙂

Helpful video. Thank you. Can you also give practical tips on maximising battery life. I agree, Apple Watch series 7 is packed with these amazing features, but they eat up a chunk of battery life.
Hi, thanks for your feedback. My main suggestion would be to switch off “Hi Siri” and instead use the Digital Crown. Also minimizing the notifications will help (also good for mental health :) ), look at screen brightness and, possibly, switch off the always on screen display. If you wish you can look at an earlier video on the series 3, but most tips also apply to the 7. Hope this helps

Great beginner guide. Clear and concise. Just wish you would preface the segment by noting that you're showing it upside down for lefties. I don't have an Apple Watch yet, but I'm assuming aside from the buttons being reversed, the up and down swiping orients itself the same way...correct?

After 10 years on android, last 7 with every Pixel, I’m finally giving iPhone a proper shot. Picked up an iphone 13 pro max and series 7. Been a week and ended up selling my Pixel 6 pro. Im all in as of now

@@DionMedia Just wanted to try something new, I still think that the still photos are superior on the pixel, especially on the six Pro considering they have a dedicated 4X telephoto lens. One thing I have noticed is that everything just works, no crazy bugs, and everything is very seamless in comparison to over on the android side. The last time I used an iPhone full-time what is the 3GS

Will be my first smartwatch if I pass my med school year lmao, I wonder how useful it will really be to an average person (not sportive), time will tell but as I see it I feel like the screen size 45mm is still too small but the ECG, blood oxygen, calories and other featurrs such as handwaching or sleep tracking looks very interesting for me (medical interest prob), very qualitative video thanks!
I have the series 7 45mm and it’s quite large, trust me. It was a birthday gift and I did not chose the size, I wonder if the smaller version feels much different to wear, or if there’s any benefit at all because it doesn’t feel heavy neither is uncomfortable. It’s my first Apple Watch and I love it.

I haven't found a watch face yet on which the second hand or seconds (digital) does not disappear and reappear. I can't even rely on the timer to always display seconds. Is there any remedy for this?

Hi, I am from the same school:). The body holds up quite well, but the screen is prone to scratches, so I suggest to at least take a screen protector. Unfortunately the number of options are quite limited. For your info I did a separate video on this
I’m the same way! I have all my old phone with no scratches or dings because I used quality cases right after buying the phone. They look brand new. But now I want to protect my watch also.
Hi Dion I'm stuck between choosing the series 6 or the series 7,price is not a problem as the 7 is only 100 bucks more but has more features like faster charging,bigger screen,bright display and a faster chip.

Go for series 7 buddy, that screen 📺 is great!
Always go newer if you don’t have one already. Especially for that small a price difference. You’ll be able to keep it longer and enjoy updates longer

WOW great work Dion. Great presentation and meaningful evaluation like the impact of haptic notifications “like a tap on the hand.” Clearly the Apple guys designed this to wear upside down! Wow brilliant ha - it’s a much shorter reach! I’ve only had my first iWatch 7 41mm black for 2 days but it is amazing - and the brilliant Watch app to quickly revise settings and Watch faces and “complications” more brilliance. I started with a used Apple IIe around 1989 and we even almost lost Apple around 1993? Just like in Talladega Nights “got it at Target - on sale!” So awesome to match with my new iPhone 13 and AirPods Pro. Yeah I approve of all these lol. New Sub!

Hi Dion!! I’m having some trouble deciding between the series seven and SE, I don’t think price is much of an issue. For the series seven I love how big the screen is and how small the bezel (I think that’s spelt right?) is. But then again, I think it has 4.0 Bluetooth and won’t be getting 4.3 like the SE has? But for the SE it has all the basics needed but I really don’t like how big the bezel (there is that evil word again) is!! Please send help soon!! I need what you think is the right! Ps. For xtra info, I’m a student who isn’t allowed an iPhone at school even tho I have one (school rules are crazy am I right??), I want to get fitter and I would love a water proof and scratch or crack proof Watch that I can use for school instead of a phone (hehe sneaky I know) please help me Dion!!

Hi Saddy, I would suggest to check the notifications settings on your Iphone App and be sure that they are turned on
Got the watch series 7 as a bday prsent it is nice and all but I really couldn't find many specs on it that I really care. All these videos about the possible uses of Apple watch are far from changing my life. The only thngs I found useful are it tracking my sleep and waking me up with haptic without any noise but obvşously I need to wear it while sleeping which is kinda too much I think, being able to control the camera would be cool I thought but it literally lags and the screen is so small that you can't even tell if you are taking a good photo, I can't read a book with it at least not using the apple books app. Still figuring out for sure if you have any apps to recommend I'd be willing to try'em out.

4:38 - and if you press and hold this button, iPhone will not only make a signal, but also flash a light, which gives an additional convenience to search, especially in darker conditions.
5:27 - Red tone is used by fishermen, astronomers and just at night this tone is not as disturbing to others as the white background, and your eyes do not go out of sleep mode. There are many videos and articles on this subject.
5:58 - Here you can rotate the Digital Crown to move quickly between the different watch faces. You can also change the order of the watch faces here by dragging them.
I also really like the ability to quickly move up to the top of lists or long menus by simply tapping the top edge of the screen, just like on an iPhone. And it is not necessary to tap the arrow in the upper left corner to return to the previous menu. Just swipe from the left edge of the screen, again, just like on the iPhone.

Hi Jeri, I thought I had covered it (at least I should have it covered), but to be sure: on the bottom side you will find two oval shaped buttons by either side where the band connects. press one after the other and then slide the band and slide it back in till it clicks

Hi Areeba, unfortunately Whatsapp does not have a dedicated App for the series 7 (or any other Apple Watch series), but it does show the Whatsapp message notifications on your watch. I have never tries the Whatsapp for call, but I do not think it can

Hi Teru, that is not as it should be. My only advice is to really start the swipe from the edge. In practice the swiping function can be a bit fickly, also with me it can take a few times before I succeed (especially when my fingers are a bit wet for example)
