I tried out the skin smoother feature on my camera and I hate it lol I look like i'm using an IG filter that makes my face look shiny like handsome Squidward. Anyways, enjoy 😉
Not like the handsome Squidward 🤣 I stopped doing wash n gos so much bc I noticed breakage. Definitely taking on some of your tips-especially the protein!
@BrittanyMia I love the video and I agree with you and I personally don’t use tools during my wash n gos but I wanted to ask what camera do you use? I think the feature is nice.
The single strand knots and breakage I use to get from wash n go’s were so bad my hair was getting shorter instead of longer 😭😭😭 I’m a blow dried natural now and my hair is almost waist length !!! Best decision I’ve ever made because it minimizes single strand knots, tangling, and breakage tremendously
@@JulianaCeasers omg you’re such a stalker but I relate 😭😭, but their hair does look super close to waist length when it was red. Maybe they wanted to switch it up and decided to cut it
Omg same! My hair is back healthy because I’m a blow dry queen now. Wash and go’s look good but I guess they’re not good for my hair. I was losing hair so much I thought I had alopecia lol
Tbh, I stopped using a tool period and went back to finger detangling and smoothing. It still does the job, reduced breakage by a ton and has done wonders for my definition. I realized my brush was ripping my hair out when my A and P professor mentioned in lecture that removing shed hairs wasn’t supposed to hurt 😂. If you feel any sort of pain while detangling, your pulling hair out from your scalp. If you see a clearish coating over the bulbs of your shed hair, that’s not a shed hair. It’s the papillae that’s supporting the growing hair that you just ripped out lol.
Finger detangling pulls hairs from my scalp and is painful. I keep trying because every video I watch says finger detangling is better but for me a wide tooth comb is gentler and easier.
Shed hair has a bulb at the top because it’s shed from the scalp. Broken Strands do not have a bulb at the end. While it’s true that your shed hair shouldn’t hurt, it should have a bulb. Anything without a bulb is breakage and a concern
Our hair regimens are very similar. I am a "wash & go natural" and started cleansing my hair twice a week 2 years ago. I used to wash every 2-3 weeks 🙄 and suffered from major knotting / extended detangling sessions. I was losing so much hair I finger separate and smooth down while shampooing, and only use a wide-toothed seamless comb under running water after deep or rinse out conditioning. 5-10 mins max detangling. Also started using Olaplex no. 3 weekly last spring. Best. Investment. Ever. Regular trims at the salon, ditched the cheapo products, etc. It all helped to transform my hair from limp, low-medium density (due to mechanical breakage and lack of cleansing) to fuller medium density hair with juicy kinky coils.
Using a comb only under running water, after conditioner is some thing I may have to try. I think a lot of knots are caused during the detangling process and doing it under running water, which is the most hydrating way you could possibly do it, sounds like a great idea. Thanks for sharing 🔑 it’s awesome to hear when people have found something that works well for them.
I randomly tried detangling under running water with conditioner and my detangling time went down by 75%! I was shook! Plus I lose like NO hair! It’s insane. At what point do you use Olaplex no. 3? On freshly washed hair before rinse out conditioner???
As much as it pains me to say this, I'm giving up the Uncle Funky's. I noticed that, even though I detangled excruciatingly, once I applied the product, my hair tangles. But when I use the Kinky Curly leave-in and gel combo, no issue. And I work out 5-6 days a week. My wash-n-go doesn't last with Uncle Funky's. Kinky Curly, no problem, curls still intact.
It's great that you eliminated what didn't work though! I'm learning to be loyal to what works, even if I love the brand or the product previously worked better for me than it does now.
I only use a tool during my detangling step and that’s it. I prepoo, cleanse, detangle, deep condition, rinse, then twist with a cream. I have began using Ominira Naturals and have noticed a sure difference in my hair. I also do a lot of scalp massages too
I’ve been natural for 10 years and I’ve alternated between finger detangling and using tools. I believe my hair type is just more prone to breakage so it does make much of a difference whether I use one or the other BUT I agree with paying closer attention to the amount of time spent detangling during each session. It should be minimized.
This was very helpful I'm so glad you talked about PROTEIN treatments!!! That is so important for keeping your hair, and too many people online act like protein is the bad guy. Protein is not the bad guy.
I wash my hair once a week- without sections and finger detangle lightly. I only use my detangling brush in the conditioning step. My hair is longer than yours and my wash session (shampoo, condition and styling) takes about 1 hour and 45mins depending on how defined I want it to be, so don’t be bummed about 1 hour sessions it’s only realistic for some. My hair is colored and bleached highlights so I use olaplex no. 3 twice a month.
I find twists with gels for 3 days and then undoing them for 3 days is most protective. I use very wide tooth combs and use my hand to detangle not detangling brushes
Can we just start with the time you took to analyze the problem and come up with solutions. There’s no way you won’t see improvements - at the very least you’ll be eliminating things that don’t work 👏🏾. Really resonated with the protein treatments. And listening to what your hair needs as opposed trying to make something that doesn’t work, work. And also stop thinking that what you do now is expected to last forever. I feel like it’s a constant process of refinement and there’s nothing wrong with that. Keep the videos coming 😁.
I detangle my wet hair before I shampoo once a "week" (I'll use conditioner if needed). If I don't, my hair tangles really bad during shampooing, especially near my scalp. Then I'll detangle with conditioner and detangle again during styling if needed. So I brush three times and I use the same partings. But I haven't suffered from breakage ever since I stopped using heavy products, raw oils and butters and products with lots of proteins. I've accepted that for my mostly coarse hair, length and density it's impossible to finish within an hour. Wash day takes 2,5 to 3 hours without drying time. But my hair dries really fast with my Dyson supersonic.
Over detangling has plagued me this year, only recently because of your videos have I valued low manipulation. The breakage was coming from washing in sections, and detangling dry before washing. I only allow myself to detangle with a tool during conditioning, using a tool once is enough for me. During this quest of simplifying my routine I stopped protein treatments, but I've been thinking about bringing them back. Washing my hair twice a week or approximately every 3-5 days has benefited me a ton! I like shampooing twice, always smoothing my hair and never detangling during this step. Next when conditioning I also smooth the product then use a wide tooth comb as my detangling tool. Finally I style my hair! My wash day takes 20-30min on average, with only a quarter size shed hair each wash.
The kure can be used once a week if you want or however often one would shampoo. I've personally used it alone (meaning its the only shampoo that cleansing) or in combination with something else for the past year. When I skip using it I can tell.
You know, I relate to this lol I heard a quote from some woman on tik tok she was talking about dental health and depression and she was like “allow yourself to be imperfect” and I was like wow that is profound. Now I’m doing all the things I know I should be doing at the level I can meet myself at rather than not doing it at all or falling back to what was easy or quicker for me. I’m learning every hair hair and being intentional with telling myself to slow down and take as much care to my hair as much as I do all the other important things in my life that I’m proud of. Idk if all that makes sense lol but basically compassion and recentering every wash day is what I am now doing to progress into enjoying my crown and my hair journey.
I VERY rarely leave comments on TH-cam and not sure if I have EVER responded to someone else's, lol....but I want to thank you for posting this and to let you know that it has been received by me right when I needed it. I hope you're having a great day!
I'm currently doing my weekly wash-n-go. Detangling: I only detangle out of the shower with my wide toothcomb and at times, my octopus detangler with my leave-in conditioner. This has been a game-changer. Protein: I do balanced conditioning once a month and a Two-step protein treatment every 12 weeks. Shampoo: I clarify bi-weekly
Now that was a great and informative video. You literally just made me realize that I am: 1. Realizing that I’m not using enough protein treatments.. I’m like yeah it’s soft so I don’t need one 😅yikes 2. I’m raking through my hair and it’s unnecessary when I’ve used my fingers and a wide tooth comb already… no need for a brush as well 😅 3. I always part in 4 parts 😮😮 so there’s some breakage along the middle part 😅 yeah I gotta stop that. 4. Not moisturizing enough, which I’ve already started changing that and it’s making the biggest difference 😊😊😊
I definitely have learned/unlearned a lot about natural hair. My now hairstylist that specializes in natural hair for over 30 years busted some myths in the natural hair community and she’s over it lol. I used to do protein treatments and learned that virgin natural hair (meaning no chemical, color, etc…) you don’t need to use a protein treatment. It will do more harm than good. I used to use Aphogee years ago, I didn’t have any issues with it but I stopped using it because it’s a strong product. I used a more gentle, protein treatment that required less steps. I no longer use protein treatments because my stylist educated me on what it did to my hair. Also, I learned that we only need to deep condition every other wash day. In between we should be using rinse out conditioners. I do cleanse with a clarifying shampoo (I do wash n gos) to really remove gel/product. My wash day is every 2 weeks (cause nobody got time to be living in their shower lol) no need to cleanse more than once a week 😳 I can go on and on debunking natural hair myths that I recently learned that has cut my wash day in HALF and my hair is healthier. I have been prioritizing trips to the salon to get a trim every 6-8 weeks. I’m glad I see other naturals on Instagram waking up, natural hair is not complicated. We have tended to over complicate it.
Some women need to cleanse more than once a week especially those who exercise regularly. Also, co-washing every 3 days before weekly wash day works for some because the hair tangles less (for more info, refer to Mr. Dickey @hairrules). Waiting 2 weeks to wash my hair results in too much shed hair tangling with other hairs. It makes wash day too long.
I learned all you’re saying from the natural hair community tho so hmm 🤔 I wonder what happened for you. For me the most important advice I’ve received is everyone’s hair is different. What works for one person on TH-cam may not work for you so we really just need to pay attention to what our hair is telling us.
I love your videos so much!!! I love how you sat here and analyzed what’s going on with your hair, what could be the causes, and set a plan of action in such a methodical way!!! You really inspire me and your videos have really helped give me a balanced perspective when it comes to my hair.
I have lots of breakage depending on the season. I still can't manage 1 hour wngos so I've just accepted that it takes time. I finger detangle while shampooing and use a brush with lots of conditioner. Ive tried a lot of protein treatments and so far for a short and sweet one my favourites are Curl Junkie and Briogeo dont despair. For a more intense treatment Botanika is great. As for bonding treatment i like Olaplex or Curlsmith for a 2 in 1. I'm looking forward to watching your progress.
I shampoo detangle the way my stylist taught me using the Diane handheld shampoo brush but I only rake through my roots down but not my ends and scrub my scalp. It’s just to smooth my hair and cleanse my scalp. I detangle the ends of my hair during conditioning. While styling I just use my fingers and embrace the clumps; my hair clumps and going against it had me ripping out my hair 😩. I wash only once a week but refresh with a bit of water and mousse 3-4 days post wash. I’m excited to see your changes!!
When detangling I only use my fingers. I don't use a tool anymore. I do a protein deep conditioning once every 8 weeks at home. Once a month I go to the shop and my stylist does a moisture deep conditioning. I wash, condition, and set once every 4 to 5 days. I also work out so my scalp sweats alot.
As a young girl brushing wet hair was a no-no. Fast forward umpteen years, and it’s all the rage. I found those "tools" reset my curl pattern and I longed for the curl pattern I had fresh out the shower before putting in any products and using any tools. I decided one day to apply products to my natural curls with only finger detangling and separating….best move ever! No more fairy knots.
I don’t know why I haven’t found you sooner but thank god I did now! You’re the first natural hair channel that has a texture exactly/similar to mine. I’ve been struggling the past two years trying to forge my own natural hair journey and just one of your videos has helped me get the results I’ve desperately been trying to create… thank you ❤
Added clarifying shampoos for scalp issues. Your hair looks good 😊Would like your input regarding cowashing. Paying attention to my hair was the number one help for me 😊😊😊Let’s hear those answers
What ?!?!?- a new video and I stocked up on KKCC and other stylers for 50% off, Merry Christmas to me 😆 I agree with what you have observed and solved in this video. I have decreased the use of detangling tools (maybe 2x month) because I started washing my hair every 3-4 days- I had less tangling and stuck shed hairs. I had less breakage, more 'hang time' - improved my overall hair health. Please do a video on why you are not fond of cowashes and what the other stylist shared. Looking forward to seeing the implementation of theses changes 👍🏾
😂 what a day! That sounds like goals for me. Detangling without a tool, and only using one a few times a month would help mitigate so much breakage. I’ll put those videos on the list. Thanks for sharing 🫶🏾
Wash n go's were breaking my hair also. I realized for me it was the shampoo. Either I was clarifying too often or the AG shampoo was too strong. My hair was getting very dry. I started using a moisturizing shampoo, a TGIN deep or leave in conditioner as a conditioner and I am seeing a difference. I detangled with a comb then a a detangling brush. Do what works for your hair.
I had the best length retention AND amazing coil definition was when I was mainly finger detangling, using cholesterol based deep conditioner and protein once a month, and only using a wide tooth comb when I had conditioner in my hair with oil too. I just big chopped last month because I was doing too much with my hair recently including over detangling with combs and brushes. I was having a lot of frizz I think from damage and my ends were breaking badly. So I’m going back to the routine I mentioned above. Since my hair is so short I’ll probably try getting trims every four months. And use aphogee protein treatment every 2 months (I think every month was kinda too much for me back then but I was using egg on my hair at that time and not protein specifically for hair)
Finger detangling is something I really wanna get back to as my main and only method of detangling. I was a little discouraged after seeing the breakage that I was seeing, but I’ll know whether I need to get a haircut or a trim in January. Makes sense. This is actually really interesting. Lately, a lot of people have been telling me that combs are better for reducing breakage. Thanks for sharing!
Same I literally had zero problem retaining length the 7 years I was finger detangling. I just naturally finger detangled because my hair was so thick. The only time I would comb was when I was straightening. It wasn’t until a couple a years ago when I started using my detangling brush that breakage became a problem and detangling took forever. Went back to strictly finger detangling a year ish ago and things have be great and my coils pop. You can definitely wash and go while strictly finger detangling.
I liked the video! 👍 I detangle my hair once during my wash&go during the conditionner, with a wide tooth comb. The rest is really all smoothing. and me too I learned when I got on my wash and go journey that it is better for my hair type to wash my hair more frequently because wash and go which is a lose style, on my texture, will just encourage matting if I dont attend to it more frequently. Using a tool during styling kinda encourage puffyness and frizz for me so I dont do it. I aim at maintening the clumping from wash and conditionning in my style, so I dont disturb it with any more detangling 🌸💫
Not sure if you’re comfortable doing this, but stretching my wash and go (I use the blowdryer but there are different methods if you’re anti heat) but it decreases my tangles/single strand knots/breakage by ALOT. I don’t have to detangle as much during my wash day
I’m still on the fence about it, but I’ve heard that it’s very useful for reducing single strand knots. I’m not anti heat but at this length I think it’ll look odd. Although, I won’t know until I try. Thanks!
I don’t detangle until I get to the deep conditioning process. Then I will detangle again once I get to the leave in process. I also should note I do wash and goes and deep condition weekly so my hair is not too tangled when I begin the process. If my hair is super dry and tangled then I will rinse all the old product out and add conditioner and detangle before I shampoo but that is pretty rare. Also if your hair is super tangled and is taking forever to dry it could be a sign that it is ready for a trim.
I subbed after one of your videos because you have the closest texture to my own that I’ve ever seen here on TH-cam. This was the next recommended video and we are kindred!! Exclusively wash and gos throughout 2022 and now making a plan to undo all the damage from poor hair care techniques. I’ll be doing similar things to what you discussed here. Best of luck to you and our hair in 2023 🖤
My hair grew less the more I washed it. So now I wash and deep condition once a month. Do twists that I moisturize 3 to 7 days depending on the products.
When I started I used to just use a leave in too, then Gel changed my life and made being natural easier. Things I’ve changed: I part my hair different every week, I leaned more towards twist and braid out cause it’s less single strand knots (but it’s time consuming), I make sure to not miss wash day cause if I do my hair will be matted a couple days later 😭
I simply no longer do washing gos & my hair has flourished ever since I blow dry with the rev air. I detangle before I wash. If my hair is dry I’ll mist it before removing the shed hair. I grew to tailbone length, and did a cut to bsl to make everything even. I had lots of damage with wash and gos.
What your speaking about has happened to me. So now I use Oplex number three I have little to no breakage and after watching a few of these professional stylist I only use a tool with conditioner on my hair and making sure I have lots of water and no partings the one that changed things for me was black girl curls salon live. Another video where another stylist talked about more smoothing and less raking it was on lannie bass under my first natural hair salon visit wash and go. Maybe you might want to check those videos out if you haven’t already wishing you all the best my curly friend
Tbh when it comes to wash n go's (now that I'm used to it for 3 years now) I got lazier than ever, and my hair has improved more than expected, bc of low manipulation, I only detangle when I'm styling, for me detangling the hair before is useless, bc the conditionner is made to ease the detangling process, and it takes so much time for the wash day and I'm not here for it. The things I've recently noticed is the lack of hydrolyzed protein in my routine, and of clarifying shampoo, those have made a huge difference in the quality of my hair, it's smoother, silkier, and less damaged than before, like you said in the hair, the feel of gummy bear just disappeared with those two products. I do wash my hair every two weeks, do use hydrolyzed protein every time, exfoliate and hydrate my scalp and do not detangle my hair until the styling process and the shed is completely fine. Low manipulation is the key, and I took me just an hour and a half so...
@Brittany Mia I'm using a homemade product with aloe vera, salicylic, and hyaluronic acid, but the scalp exfoliant (the salicylic one) from the inkey list is quite well formulated for an alternative
Love your videos!! How often do you clarify your hair? Not properly clarifying to remove product build up will also contribute to that "gummy" feel and prevent those good ingredients from penetrating. BTW, washing/setting 2x weekly is key for me
I never shampoo detangle, no prepoos. I detangle once and that's with my detangler/hair heavily saturated in water & my moisture conditioner. Afterwards i apply my base gel in sections, no pulling/detangling or shingling. Once i put on the topper gel my hair easily allows me to finger style. It turns out beautifully/ lil hair comes out.
Yeah, we don’t need tools as much as we think we do. I chose to primarily finger detangle a couple years ago. I pick and choose if I use a tool. I’ll use one for my pre poo if my hair is bad shape cause I don’t want to start wash day with tangled hair. IF I use a tool during the wash process it’ll be while rinsing out the dc out or upon application of my leave in. For styling I typically don’t use a tool unless it’s twists and I only use a brush or comb on the sections that actually need it
For me for doing regular wash n gos moisture, sealing, and shingling, regular trims allows me to maintain length. Yea I don’t detangle with shampoo but I do detangle with my fingers when I apply conditioner, I don’t use a tool to detangle until I’m about to style. I find the crown of the head is the most sensitive part of the head for most people. I don’t think it has to do with parting as my CV as it does with genetics cause it’s naturally fragile anyway
Waiting until the styling process to detangle with a tool makes a LOT of sense. I’m going to work towards that. My stylist also mentioned that sometimes the crown of our head is just prone to breakage. I’m going to see if switching up the parting does anything for me. Thanks for sharing!
I really like your tone of voice and the presentation of information. I am also finding that my wash and go routine wasn't going they way i wanted, esp the realization about washing more often during the week. I finger detangle before hitting it with the brush too but never thought about the consequences of not worrying about my parts when working with my hair. 😅 Nice catch.
Yeessss omg! So 2 things- 1. I had a slight set back from being sick recently and washing my hair was just a huge NO for me at that point. So when I finally got back to wash it, my hair felt DIFFERENT. Like she was ANGRY at me 😭 it was crazy, like the hydration was at a negative 10. Of course I had to clarify like hell too. But I got a GREAT cleanse session and when I conditioned, I took my tiiiiimmmeee. I squished the conditioner in, smoothed til I couldn’t smooth no more, added water and smoothed more, and let it sit and then did a little more smoothing before I rinsed. That seemed to really help a lot. 2. I do lightly shampoo detangle with my fingers when I’m at the moisture shampoo step. Like I pull my hair apart during every step but when I start to get my fingers in there more is during the moisture-poo. I feel like I can feel the big difficult tangles out before the condition detangle step when I’m using my tool.
I have to say, I never shampoo and detangle. I place a conditioner with slip on my hair first, and let it marinate while I shower. I then go in and detangle with a wide tooth comb ( and once in a while a tangle teaser). My hair is now detangled, and I can proceed with the shampoo. A good old school protein conditioner is aubrey organics GPB. Great video👍
For someone that has never used protein or bond treatments your hair looks great. My hair list all it's elasticity and curl definition when I neglected using protein and bond treatments. I also wasn't bring consistent eith using mousture vs protein based products on my weekly wash days used more moisture based). I now use Curlsmith's Bond Rehab Salve for my Bond treatment anout twice a month (high porosity hair). Will be trying Olaplex soon. I also use protein based deep conditioner every two to three weeks. For protein treatments I have used Botanika and Shea Moisture's Manuka Yogurt Conditioner. Good luck with your treatments, you'll really feel and see the difference. I usually wash only once a week but primarily do twistouts. My hair is thin and fine and wash and goes only last a day or two as my hair has gotten longer. Good luck with your new wash day routine.
I’ve used a protein treatment before, just not on my hair ever since I’ve big chopped a few years ago. So the hair on my head now has never seen a bond builder or protein treatment until the past few weeks. My hair was beginning to lose elasticity and curl definition, which alarmed me immediately. After having documented my hair, I saw a huge difference between now and towards the beginning/ middle of my journey. Now I know these products are a must to have an a healthy hair routine! Thanks for sharing 🫶🏾
first timer here! wash and go's were also the cause of my breakage, i have reallyyyyyy fine really fragile hair and the second i stopped wearing my hair in it's curly state, the breakage stopped lol. i'm now what i think people call a "straight haired natural" and it's grown to mid back. i think the real secret is when my hair is straight it's easier to keep from tangling and that's helped reduce breakage significantly :)
I considered being a “straight haired natural“ years ago, and had I not been so active and constantly sweating out my hair, I probably would’ve stayed that way. But I really love my curls lol I love seeing them every day but I’m going to have to incorporate some stretching and what not to mitigate the knots and tangles for sure. Thanks for sharing ✨
@@BrittanyMia !! it was a progression for sure! have you tried wave formers? i think you might like them, no heat but you still get a nice stretch 👍🏽 i started stretching with those and then just finally went all in and wear it totally straight now
@@glowwithmebri I’ve seen a lot of people try them, but I haven’t tried them yet. There’s a lot of stress and styles that I want to try. It was my hair gets a little longer. It’s a cute style so I’m looking forward to trying it out!
I’m a firm believer in pre pooing! About 6 sections I detangle and twist then hop right in the shower and wash , condition, etc. I only use a tool initially while pre pooing and washing in twists saves my life.
I use tools with the conditioner when every other product I use has had a chance to work so it ends up being super easy. I went to a hairstylist once who detangled my hair when applying the gel (lnnersense) and it was super quick, I did not feel a thing. The only reason I do not do it at the gel stage is because I find gel to be a more expensive product than conditioner, but her method was effective. Curl Junkie Repair and Camille Rose Nangai are my favorite protein DC. Curl Origin’s Maracuja DC is great if you want moisture-protein balance. Yes, would be interested in hearing the advice you received from cicilovecurls. I love seeing her hair spa experiences. Best of luck.
I tried to shampoo-detangle after watching one of your videos and I even asked you about it because I was concerned about it. I can see the value BUT it’s not for me! It took forever and I felt like I was slightly breaking my hair in the process. So I’m glad I tried but I’ll only be detangling during the conditioning step of my routine. 💖
When i used to do wash in gos i did them once a week and my hair grew like crazy i was tailbone length straight and bra strap length curly. The i straighten my hair and got really bad heat damage the 1st time. Cut it to shoulder length and then i broke my back had 2 spinal surgeries and a ulcer surgery from 2k18 to 2k20 my hair thinned out and i just washed condition and put it in twists til it started to grow back. Its now almost waist length.
Im sorry to hear you went through all that. I pray you are well. Do you mind sharing what products you used for wash and go when your hair grew to tailbone?
@@patricia9625 hi I used eco styler olive oil I hated the crunchy feeling so I added oil to the gel and it made a cream. I would wet it daily to reactivate the gel and reset it completely once a week
@@aquafina6544 thank you for replying! Funny, I just did a wash and go earlier today with flaxseed gel and castor oil. I mixed it in my hands and applied. It looks great. Still had a bit of crunch but no flakes. I’ll see how it holds up. I have olive eco styler, so I’ll try it. Do you remember which oil you used?
Your wash-n-go is so defined, I'm in love! I'd love to compare my hair growth with wash and gos next year seeing as I just cut it and my hair grows sooooo slow (like 4 inches a year slow lol). I don't have much hair loss when I do wash-n-gos because I finger detangle but I know I am not immune to single-strand knots and split ends so let's see!
I don’t shampoo detangle because prepooing is my babes. I only use a tool then and maybe when I am adding deep conditioner. You’re right about those sections. That’s where my breakage comes from. I be poppin them strands when pulling them from another section!
@@BrittanyMia I love prepooing with one of eden’s deep conditioners, but recently went back to african’s pride prepoo because the slip is CRAZY & it’s cheap especially on amazon.
I really like this approach to hair problems. I'm gonna get back to it. I'm experiencing issues with my edges (after learning I was capable of doing ponytails) I'm gonna go through and create a game plan
Very helpful problem-solution upload. An elasticity treatment may prove beneficial and/or incorporating a moisture/protein product at 1 step of the process weekly/biweekly based on what your hair is in need of as opposed to a hard-core protein treatment especially if your hair is not color treated and not heat styled. Again, very helpful info including clean flexible sections and detangling with a tool at 1 phase of the process more than 1x per week. My hair also loves to be fully cleansed, detangled, conditioned, and styled in the shower. Merry CHRISTmas--Be safe all.
My "washdays" stay short because I mostly wash later in the day and shampoo twice a week. I finger detangle during the shampoo process and don't deep condition or treat every wash. I use a bond builder about every other week and protein when I feel I need it. It gets faster every time I couldn't tell that you were experiencing breakage but I did notice the over-detangling
Smoothing is underrated. For my hair, I have almost completely eliminated raking but smooth at every step and I only use a tool during conditioning but only after smoothing generously. I want to add another wash day as well just to shorten the one I have but I need to find time.
Yes! I found that smoothing in a raking-like motion, but using the pads of my fingers is really helping me define my curls without having to rake my hair.
I tried to do wash and goes but the front and back of my hair textures are different so it caused more tangling throughout the week. Now I just do band stretching and twists outs are my go to. I have fine hair and don’t use heat but get a lot manipulation damage. Wearing slicked pony have made the front of my hair curls so loose 😅 it’s super frustrating.
To get back quickly from a hydration set back after weeks of no shampooing, I use my most stripping shampoo (a chelating shampoo) mixed with water in a bottle with a nozzle tip. I apply it to the roots first and scrub. Then to my hair. All of this is out of the shower. And then I prep to get in the shower which takes a couple of minutes. By the time the shower water hits my head, the shampoo has had a while to marinate and open my hair cuticle right on up. I then rinse, use a moisturizing shampoo, and the detangle with my most moisturizing conditioner (I be a protein conditioner here would work great too). Detangling is always so much easier because the strands are very hydrated bc they're so "open" from the stripping shampoo. Hair always feels amazing after. I learned this from trial and error, and once when I injured my hand and couldn't shampoo for a month. Crunchy to soft in a wash.
I cleanse my hair once a week and that's usually when I use a detangling tool. For that, I do it with conditioner and only if my hair is very tangled. That's it. However, when I do a wash and go (maybe twice a week), I use my fingers. What you will see is that the more moisturized your hair is, the less you will need a tool.
Zing! I did my hair last night and I used a wide toothed comb once during the whole process and I had very little finger detangling to do after that. So far the multiple cleansing sessions a week are helping with hydration and moisture. 🙏🏾
Great tips. I was thinking 2023 I want to be more intentional when doing my hair and listen to my hair. I usually do a wash and go and GO. I do no more.
I think definitely monitoring your hair and checking in with your stylist is a great practice. I’m weary of using protein treatments if it’s not absolutely necessary because I’ve had setbacks using protein treatments when it wasn’t needed and experience a lot more breakage. Same thing with bond builders like Olaplex. Olaplex when used too often and not when I needed it left my hair feeling stiffer and not as flexible. Like Stylist Aliese has said in a video she shared hair is like a suspension bridge it needs equal parts rigidity and flexibility to be able to suspend like a bridge. Over compensation on any side can leave the bridge/ hair too rigid (too much protein) or not enough (too gummy). Separately I’m curious about what cleansers and conditioners you use on a regular basis when not filming and testing new things? I have found between using innersense and AG their formulations (especially innersense) have a lot of protein in them with that with regular use ( and especially now that you’ll be cleansing more than once a week) it should strengthen your hair up each time and maintain the moisture protein balance. I typically hear when we don’t wash as often that’s when the balance can shift to either feeling too gummy or stiff. Hoping you can find a good balance.
For sure that’s a great practice. I’ll definitely be using more proteins since I haven’t in quite some time, but I’ll restrain from using heavy liquid protein treatments more often than I need to. I’m typically using my Ouidad shampoos and conditioners. On occasion AG. I was trying to use up my regular conditioners, because I’m moving back towards deep conditioning more often. I’m going to keep one handy, my AG conditioner, and use that as needed. I don’t use the Innersense shampoo as often. No specific reason. I love the formula and how it makes my hair feel, but good to know it has protein in it.
I only detangle with my unbrush in the pre poo and deep conditioning stage. I do need to part my hair better because I get a little breakage in my crown so this was helpful
Whew chile, I’m enlightened. Cause I was seriously sitting here wondering how the heck I’m getting this breakage at the top of my head. It’s from parting my hair 😫 Thank you!
Ha ha you’re welcome! It could be a slew of things honestly, but the parting and the fact that the top of our heads are closest to the air and the elements makes sense to me.
I finger detangle with shampoo and conditioner then use my tool while I have conditioner in. I use olaplex but that aphogee protein treatment scares me. I've seen so many people use it wrong and ruin their hair. I says on the package "for professional use only" I do use protein rich deep conditioners every once in awhile. I take a hair skin and nails vitamin and I've noticed less shedding.
I’ve used the Aphogee protein treatment before, and it worked really well for my hair. I need to start taking my vitamins again. I’m sure that’s playing a part in the changes. I’ve been seeing as well. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Bri!!! Being the product junkie I am I just realized that I had Briogeo’s Don’t Despair Repair DC. It is said that this is a balancing DC I haven’t used it yet but good to know I have it. I’m about to watch some vids on it to see what’s up with it.
Im super late to the party lol but have shoulder length 4a curls with mild heat damage so curl pattern is not uniform, although it has gotten significantly better as I continue to use wash & go's. What has worked for me is the unbrush along with a diffuser. The denman was the first tool that worked for curl definition however the dried results weren't great. The unbrush for some reason enhances (brings out/intensifies) my curl pattern while also SIGNIFICANTLY lessening any loss of hair through the detangling process. Im not sure what my hair's porosity is, i just know that detangling used to be a constant struggle because we have hard water and/or I just have hair that's difficult to detangle. The brush resolved that & an added bonus was curl definition & uniformity (about 80% of curls look same pattern now). Currently using Design Essentials Agave shampoo & conditioner (though im neutral on how effective that combo actually is). I use Miss Jessies leave-in condish (yellow tube) while still in shower, hair soaking wet. I only use the unbrush with conditioner & leave-in conditioner. I apply oil right after (this is now styling outside of shower), then Aunt jackies cream knot on my watch (constantly spraying hair with water to keep soaked) then I brush through again with unbrush. Lastly I apply as i am curling jelly because those flaxseed styling products work absolute wonders on my texture. I unbrush through. Spray with aunt jackies oh so strong biotin honey moisturizer...then diffuse about 80% & let air dry. The dried results get compliments, although i believe it can be better & will get there if i just trust the process & continue to wash & go. I have to say the brush & diffuser made the most difference in outcome. Many curly girls finished results are far better than mine, but i was someone who flat ironed for YEARS. I don't have any relaxer/keratin type chemicals but I do color (gray coverage) about 3x a year. Just wanted to share in case there's anyone else in the tiny same boat as me 😂
Great video ! I remember that in my hair journey I saw a lot of breakage because when washing my parting was all over the place. I switch it up and using more part. Girl doing washing my hair more than once I couldn't. I'm set in my way once a week is good for me and beside I live in Montreal (Canada) it's getting to cold. I might consider trying during the summer. I didn't realize you were getting breakage. The steps you're going to do will help. Personnally I don't detangle with tools in the shampoo process more when I use a conditionner. Yes using some kind of bond and protein treatment are important steps to not forget. Thanks for sharing.
@@BrittanyMiaI’m ajusting now my routine. I’m trying to cowash twice a week. I did the Anthony Dickey method but I realize I can’t do it every day but twice in weeks is ok for me and on the weekend l’lldo a complete session with shampoo and deep conditioning session once.
@@BrittanyMia I like but after the fourth my hair felt limp in the front. I was like nope. I had the cowash of Briogeo (Be gentle be kind ) I like it. Last night after cowashing I did two braids. So Saturday I’ll be washing with a shampoo. Twice a week of cowashing is the best for me now since it’s colder (it’s snowing today in Mtl ). In the summertime I ‘ll try a complete week of cowashing.
@@psr076 if your hair doesn’t need extra conditioning I wouldn’t suggest daily cowashing even in the summertime. lifestyle and the state of the hair is what tells us what we need to do. I only cowashed so much during the summertime because of the mousse-only wash n go’s I was doing. I recently learned from my stylist that simply water washing (cowashing once a week and water washing once a week instead of multiple cowashing sessions) is beneficial to refresh the product that’s already in the hair so that you’re not adding conditioner and more product back onto your hair. Like rinsing your hair underwater, scrubbing your scalp with your fingertips, and separating your hair and finger detangling then adding product if you need. I’ll be making a video within the next month because I just went to see her again. But just so you know, if it’s making your hair feel limp, then you really don’t need it. And sometimes it is good to use a cowashing product that has a cleansing agent in it or a moisturizing shampoo if your hair is feeling weighed down midweek. Just remember to pay attention to what your hair needs. I just don’t want you to potentially over condition your hair.
Whew. I thought you were going to stop WNGs. I feel like I have less breakage with them. I don’t detangle until the conditioning step. I also use a comb mostly because I’ve been using combs my entire natural journey. The brushes break too much of my hair. And yes. On a random twist out it takes about 3 WNGs until I get the results I enjoy
No ma’am! My wide-toothed comb gets the job done and I do feel that way about brushes too. I want to like them because I feel like they smooth in the conditioner better than a comb but I still have other tools I need to test out during the conditioning process. Thanks for sharing.
When I went an extended period without shampooing I had to use a clarifying shampoo to get products to work properly in my hair again. I use Living Proof Triple Detox.
First I mist my hair then detangle with my fingers into 4-6 sections before shampooing. Most times I'll cleanup my parts with a rat tail comb. Shampoo twice. Once with a clarifying poo then a moisturizing poo using my fingers. I always deep condish with a protein/moisture balance condish!! Right now I'm using Melanin Haircare Plumping Deep Condish. Apply to each section first, smooth it in with my fingers then gently detangle with Felicia Leatherwood brush. I have low porosity hair so I sit under hooded dryer for 20- 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Apply my leave condish & let that marinate for 10mins. I prefer to 2strand twist each section so my curly hairstylist suggested that I use my fingers to part sub-sections, smooth in whatever products of choice into clumps then twist it up. I visit my curly hairstylist every 2-3 months. I let her do the hair bonding thing on my 4C hair & I always ask her to dust my ends. I shampoo & deep condish every 7-10 days. I use to cowash in between until hygral fatigue wrecked havoc on my Salt&Pepper hair. I've been natural for 20 years. I've spent more than $$$$ on different brand products and so call natural hair care specialist. I've finally learned how to take care of my hair with patience, being consistent and no stress!
I purchased a hothead heat cap years ago, because sitting under the dryer twice in one day seemed super annoying for me, but there is nothing like using a hooded dryer to deep condition your hair. A hothead heat cap is great, but a hooded dryer is even more effective. Applying the leave in first and letting it sit for about 10 minutes would probably help me a lot with retaining hydration and clumping my curls. I’ve seen a few stylist recommending that as well. Thank you for sharing!
With my type hair, I can get away with detangling with a wide tooth comb before I wash it and then I don't use another tool until the next time I'm going to wash my hair if I'm doing a wash and go. Also full desclosure, I do use the African Pride Pre-Shampoo and that helps to get rid of tangles easily for me. My hair thrives and grows like this. I see the number of times others use tools throughout the washing process and that's too much for me.
When I shampoo ,I smooth the hair down and finger detangle a lil bit, then when i condition, I add water to the conditioner to help add more slip to my hair then I use the tool. By then a lot of the big tangles are out. I section in 4 parts and work through each section. Then I don't usually use a tool after that. I usually wash once a week, so my hair sees a tool once a week. Since I usually use Uncle Funky's Daughter gel, I might have to use a tool at the ends of my hair if the gel gets too cold after I apply it cause UFD gets a lil tangling if I take to long to smooth and separate my hair after applying it.
Going back to washing twice a week yeah I’ve been thinking about do that as well. You made me think that’s when I can use my olaplex #3 on my mid week wash when I cowash with a clay 🤩. I’d use the olaplex mid week bi-weekly.
Wow your hair looks amazing in this vid! I was using a Felicia Leatherwood brush, but that part about your sections not being neat and breaking hair from other sections across the parts really hit home for me, because I was def having issues with that. I've been mainly finger detangling recently, and same as some others have said here, keeping my hair twisted throughout my wash day has been helping a lot, because it tends to re-tangle throughout my process if left loose 😩 Thank u for your vids, and for sharing your advice/updates! You inspired me to start detangling during the shampoo phase and its been a game changer 🤌🏾
Same with the Felicia Leatherwood brush!! I even thought about getting the travel size because it’s smaller and I could have more control over the sections without feeling as though I was snagging hair from other sections accidentally. When my hair gets longer, I’m gonna go back to shampooing with my hair in twists because that’s so true about re-tangling. I think that would make my wash a lot shorter as well. You’re so welcome! I’m so happy I could introduce something that has helped you 🫶🏾
I used to work only finger detangle and detangling took forrreeeeevvvver and I would still have lots of tangles but 2 things came into my life that made a world of difference… 1. Shampoo detangling with my fingers mostly focusing on removing loose hairs over pure detangling (I got this from the hairstylist no oils no butters proponents even though I definitely use oils) AND 2. The Kazmalage (sp?) black owned business brush that I use with deep conditioning on rewet hair and under running water. Wooo chile! World of difference
Yeah, finger detangling by itself is not working for me. I’ve heard of this brush, but I’ll look into it in the future. And shampoo separating and smoothing is helping me a lot as well. I also still use oil LMAO but mainly as a finisher.
I’ve had the same thought about using a tool to have neat sections as well. Hopefully this will encourage me to do this now lol. I love this. I finger detangle during the rinsing process before shampooing and during shampooing and only use a bush during the conditioning session and I love it. And yes I tried going for a week between washes as well and I didn’t like wash day after that I did notice a lot more tangles and shedding so I’m back to twice a week. I don’t like co-washing, I’d rather wash my hair twice a week. I work out so co-washing isn’t cleansing enough for me. But I’ll use a moisturizing shampoo mid week and that works pretty well. Thanks for sharing!!
I only use a denman to detangle once a week but i have been thinking of doing it twice a week to see how that works for me. Olaplex No 3 helps a lot with my breakage and shedding. One application and i had barely any. I don’t like to use a tool when styling because i feel like my hair doesn’t have that kind of slip when i apply styling products.
I detangle pre shampoo with a conditioner then I detangle with a brush during shampoo but I shampoo in sections and put them in large chunky twist (about 6 or 7 )and rinse my hair out in twist And I unravel each twist to apply conditioner rinse it out in twist so after the detangle with shampoo I don’t detangle after that it’s good enough for me 😅 keeping it in twist really helps me to not have to keep detangling my hair disclaimer I have high density hair so I havee to detangle before shampoo my mom has shoulder length medium density medium porosity and I notice it’s generally easier to wash her hair without pre shampoo detangling so it may differ with each hair type
Heeey! I’m your pre-poo sis, so when washing my prepoo out is when I’ll finger detangle. I shampoo or co-wash in sections if what I’m using allows me to finger detangle I will but nothing intense I’ll glide through my coils a couple of times and the move to the next section. I mostly use a scalp massager when I cleanse. I will also finger detangle lightly (meaning a few passing through that section) when applying my DC & when rinsing my DC out. I have tools I can use to detangle and define my coils in my wash day basket but can’t say the last time I picked one up to use.
Once I get a trim and start getting trims more often, I feel like finger detangling will be a lot more efficient for me. Right now, it’s feel impossible for me not to use a tool because I need a trim. Thanks for sharing! 🫶🏾
I do not shampoo detangle simply because I use a sulfate shampoo on thr first shampoo because of product buildup and I got oil before I shampoo so my hair has a buffer I then Deep conditioning under a dryer or steamer so my hair will not lose the moisture the sulfate shampoos have a little less slip so I only condition detangle
This is the best! I just tried this yesterday prepoo and the deep conditioner w/oil under the hooded dryer was a game changer! My twist out looks the best it’s ever had! I also used the shampoo with olefin sulfonate b/c my sulfate free didn’t leather b/c of build up from grease etc. So, I used that then went in with my sulfate free shampoo and it lathered
I detangle for like a minute each section. I cant remember maybe it was a stylist they said our hair can never not tangle. So I try not to go crazy. Since I wash 1x a week I think detangling it shampoo and conditon would be alot
You can use a DC that is protein based opposed to a straight up protein treatment. I try to rotate a moisturizing DC & a protein based DC each wash day. There are also balancing DC that can be used it’ll take care of the moisture & the protein at the same time…💡💡💡 Wash day is A WHOLE journey so now that you have some staple styling products let’s move on to caring for our coils let’s see how you incorporate your moisture and protein balance I’m sure that’s a struggle for many naturals
YAAAS oh my goodness great idea rotating protein and moisturizing the conditioners every wash day. I am definitely going to do that. Question; What’s your favorite protein deep conditioner and balancing deep conditioner?
@@BrittanyMia I’m still is that finding my staples phase but so far I’m loving Briogeo Be gentle be kind and Miche Bounce conditioners for moisturize. I like Adowa beauty bioment & mielle babassu and mint for my protein based conditioners. I haven’t found one yet that’s balancing although I there out there
You should try using less water . I know your hair has to feel mushy. Protein !!! But don't over do it Curlsmith rehab is bomb ! I now shampoo , rinse , comb thru with a wide tooth comb then DC with my hot head ... I noticed I lose less hair since I stopped detangling with a brush & conditioner in it . I style on wet/damp hair .
I tried out the skin smoother feature on my camera and I hate it lol I look like i'm using an IG filter that makes my face look shiny like handsome Squidward. Anyways, enjoy 😉
Not like the handsome Squidward 🤣
I stopped doing wash n gos so much bc I noticed breakage. Definitely taking on some of your tips-especially the protein!

I’m glad that you found something that works for you! Thanks for sharing.
I just looked at your Instagram and your hair is nowhere near waist length. Why do y’all be lying like this 🙄
@@JulianaCeasers omg you’re such a stalker but I relate 😭😭, but their hair does look super close to waist length when it was red. Maybe they wanted to switch it up and decided to cut it
Omg same! My hair is back healthy because I’m a blow dry queen now. Wash and go’s look good but I guess they’re not good for my hair. I was losing hair so much I thought I had alopecia lol
How often do you wash and blow your hair out ??
Tbh, I stopped using a tool period and went back to finger detangling and smoothing. It still does the job, reduced breakage by a ton and has done wonders for my definition. I realized my brush was ripping my hair out when my A and P professor mentioned in lecture that removing shed hairs wasn’t supposed to hurt 😂. If you feel any sort of pain while detangling, your pulling hair out from your scalp. If you see a clearish coating over the bulbs of your shed hair, that’s not a shed hair. It’s the papillae that’s supporting the growing hair that you just ripped out lol.
I love that you're so young learning to take care of your hair. Go on ahead 😊
Finger detangling pulls hairs from my scalp and is painful. I keep trying because every video I watch says finger detangling is better but for me a wide tooth comb is gentler and easier.
@@LethalLemonLime nothing works for everyone! Do what doesn't cause you pain.

I was losing so much hair
I finger separate and smooth down while shampooing, and only use a wide-toothed seamless comb under running water after deep or rinse out conditioning.
I only detangle with a tool during the conditioning process. Using a bond builder has been great for my hair. Good luck with your adjustments.
Sounds like you have a plan! ✅ I don’t -detangle- during the shampoo process but I *do* smooth my hair and remove shed hair.
same
I detangle my wet hair before I shampoo once a "week" (I'll use conditioner if needed).
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏾
@habiba nice routine 👍🏾
Great information. Common theme with wide toothed combs being the detangling tool I see in the comments. Thanks so much for sharing!
I wish it only took me 30 minutes. Omg. Takes me 3 hours to do a wash and go.

Outside of Olaplex, I'm really into The Kure by Amika. its a bond building shampoo that doesn't strip or stiffen your hair.
How often do you use it?
The kure can be used once a week if you want or however often one would shampoo. I've personally used it alone (meaning its the only shampoo that cleansing) or in combination with something else for the past year. When I skip using it I can tell.
You know, I relate to this lol
I heard a quote from some woman on tik tok she was talking about dental health and depression and she was like “allow yourself to be imperfect” and I was like wow that is profound.
I love this comment so much 🙏🏽🤎

Agreed!

You literally just made me realize that I am:
1. Realizing that I’m not using enough protein treatments.. I’m like yeah it’s soft so I don’t need one 😅yikes
2. I’m raking through my hair and it’s unnecessary when I’ve used my fingers and a wide tooth comb already… no need for a brush as well 😅
Okay lol thanks for sharing 🤸🏽♀️
Some women need to cleanse more than once a week especially those who exercise regularly. Also, co-washing every 3 days before weekly wash day works for some because the hair tangles less (for more info, refer to Mr. Dickey @hairrules). Waiting 2 weeks to wash my hair results in too much shed hair tangling with other hairs. It makes wash day too long.
This is a late comment, but how long is your wash day?
I learned all you’re saying from the natural hair community tho so hmm 🤔 I wonder what happened for you. For me the most important advice I’ve received is everyone’s hair is different. What works for one person on TH-cam may not work for you so we really just need to pay attention to what our hair is telling us.
@@tunzlunz I agree, my hair has been flourishing. I wear my hair straight now
I love your videos so much!!!

I didn’t even know these existed. I hear about Briogeo, but I’ve never tried them. Thanks for sharing ❤️
I’ve been struggling the past two years trying to forge my own natural hair journey and just one of your videos has helped me get the results I’ve desperately been trying to create… thank you ❤
Yay! I’m really glad I could help. You’re welcome ❤️
Thanks ☺️ and thanks for sharing. Your hair looks gorgeous in your profile picture!
@@BrittanyMia me?🤭 thank you🤩☺🥰
Not sure if you’re comfortable doing this, but stretching my wash and go (I use the blowdryer but there are different methods if you’re anti heat) but it decreases my tangles/single strand knots/breakage by ALOT. I don’t have to detangle as much during my wash day
I’m still on the fence about it, but I’ve heard that it’s very useful for reducing single strand knots. I’m not anti heat but at this length I think it’ll look odd. Although, I won’t know until I try. Thanks!
I absolutely love your videos! You are my natural hair friend in my head🤣
Also, I shampoo and detangle with my hands....
😂 I love this!
✊🏽🤣
Best of luck to you and our hair in 2023 🖤
Best of luck! Keep me updated on your progress 💙
Thanks for sharing!
Glad you found what works for you!
Would love to hear what Lou had to say. She’s top tier!
It’s great to know that OlaPlex is working for you. Thanks for sharing those video resources.
I’m curious about what you use to exfoliate your scalp.
BTW, washing/setting 2x weekly is key for me
Thanks! I clarify about once a month.
Thanks for sharing your steps
Yeah, we don’t need tools as much as we think we do. I chose to primarily finger detangle a couple years ago. I pick and choose if I use a tool. I’ll use one for my pre poo if my hair is bad shape cause I don’t want to start wash day with tangled hair. IF I use a tool during the wash process it’ll be while rinsing out the dc out or upon application of my leave in. For styling I typically don’t use a tool unless it’s twists and I only use a brush or comb on the sections that actually need it
We really don’t. I think using a tool all the time made me think I needed it, but nah. Working towards the less is more approach.
I only detangle once on my wash day and that’s in styling
Your hair is so gorgeous
I really like your tone of voice and the presentation of information. I am also finding that my wash and go routine wasn't going they way i wanted, esp the realization about washing more often during the week. I finger detangle before hitting it with the brush too but never thought about the consequences of not worrying about my parts when working with my hair. 😅 Nice catch.
Yeessss omg! So 2 things-
Yes! My hair was like… Um who are you? Lol like you are trippin not washing me for a month!
Thanks for sharing 💕
I have to say, I never shampoo and detangle. I place a conditioner with slip on my hair first, and let it marinate while I shower. I then go in and detangle with a wide tooth comb ( and once in a while a tangle teaser). My hair is now detangled, and I can proceed with the shampoo. A good old school protein conditioner is aubrey organics GPB. Great video👍
Good way to go about it for eliminating breakage. Thanks for sharing 😊
I used to wash in twists when my hair was longer. It made a difference in the detangling process. Thanks for sharing!
What do you use to prepoo?
I really appreciate the transparency in this video! Thanks for sharing Brittany✨
All we can do is try and see for ourselves. I’m glad you saw that it wasn’t right for you and are moving based off your experience!
Can we talk about your skin though?? Wow! It's so flawless!
I used the skin smoother feature on my camera, and I honestly hate it. It makes me look so weird 🤣 thanks though
@@BrittanyMia LOL I can't tell. It looks great to me!
I don’t shampoo detangle because prepooing is my babes. I only use a tool then and maybe when I am adding deep conditioner. You’re right about those sections. That’s where my breakage comes from. I be poppin them strands when pulling them from another section!
What do you use to pre-poo? Do you use conditioner or pre-poo product?
@@BrittanyMia I love prepooing with one of eden’s deep conditioners, but recently went back to african’s pride prepoo because the slip is CRAZY & it’s cheap especially on amazon.
I really like this approach to hair problems. I'm gonna get back to it. I'm experiencing issues with my edges (after learning I was capable of doing ponytails) I'm gonna go through and create a game plan
Love to hear it 🙌🏾
Very helpful problem-solution upload.
Merry Christmas to you as well 🎅🏿🎄
My "washdays" stay short because I mostly wash later in the day and shampoo twice a week. I finger detangle during the shampoo process and don't deep condition or treat every wash. I use a bond builder about every other week and protein when I feel I need it. It gets faster every time
I couldn't tell that you were experiencing breakage but I did notice the over-detangling
Your quality!!! 🔥
💕
Thanks for sharing your method. You’re onto something with the bottle and the nozzle tip.
Same. I think I’m going to start venturing out to other loose styles, but that’s far in the future lol.
I absolutely love your speaking voice!
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
@@BrittanyMia Makes the most sense to me too. Happy Holidays!
@@IreneElla happy holidays!
Trust, I understand not doing more than 1 w&g per week 🤣 thanks!
@@psr076 how are you liking it so far?
I don’t shampoo detangled. It’s like a waste of time to me since I have to detangled again one I prep my hair for styling.
Thank you, Queen! We appreciate all the video uploads ❤❤❤❤
You’re so welcome 💕
I shampoo using my fingers and use a detangling tool when conditioning.
I’m so happy I could introduce something that has helped you 🫶🏾
I used to work only finger detangle and detangling took forrreeeeevvvver and I would still have lots of tangles but 2 things came into my life that made a world of difference…
1. Shampoo detangling with my fingers mostly focusing on removing loose hairs over pure detangling (I got this from the hairstylist no oils no butters proponents even though I definitely use oils)
AND
@@BrittanyMia yeah I agree use oil as a finisher. Yeah that brush is the bidniz
Finger detangling during the rinsing process is a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
@@BrittanyMia You're welcome! Although I got it from what the kink :)
Thanks for sharing 🤗
Thanks for sharing!
I never got these results with deep conditioning with a heated bonnet. The hooded dryer is the way to go!
I detangle for like a minute each section. I cant remember maybe it was a stylist they said our hair can never not tangle. So I try not to go crazy. Since I wash 1x a week I think detangling it shampoo and conditon would be alot
My stylist told me that too. She said there’s no need to keep on detangling because your hair is never going to be 100% detangled.
I tried my first wash n go and it was a. Epic fail 😂I went back to twist out and love it
Yesssss m'am to the stylist QA video 📹
I haven’t found one yet that’s balancing although I there out there
Omg I love Lou and her philosophy on hair care! I’d love a video about y’all’s convo
