The way ICD reacts to the climate is very unique too. It dries so tough but if you enter a humid location it turns completely soft then it goes back to being extremely firm when you’re back in a drier location. Truly has a mind of its own!
I create definition is definitely a very unique foam. It’s got absolutely monstrous levels of hold, and is a quick dry super light product. I use very little of this (but to be fair I have very little hair as well) and get some pretty serious hold. Almost to the point where if I use too much it’ll frizz up if I touch it because it’s trying so hard to maintain it’s set shape. Definitely not moisturizing lmao. Sweet spirit is good for like, fine hair. My hair is stupid coarse, and that one wouldn’t do a dang thing. I def think you’d like I create definition with a cream underneath.
I agree. I like sweet spirit, but it’s definitely for fine hair. If the serenity smoothing cream by Innersense didn’t have protein in it, I would try to use it with the ICD.
Lol. I use those products, def don’t use that many pumps per sections because the mega hold it gives/super quick drying. If you dial the amount of foam down helps and add I create hold before the foam my hair usually has great hold and super softness.
I love this mousse. My new stylist (the Curl Coach) uses UFD, ICH and this mousse on top. My hair has never been this bouncy before. It took a few tries to get close to the look she gave me, but what I've learned is a TINY BIT goes a long way with this mousse. Gotta say, I knew your hair was gonna be dry as hell with the amount you used. 😅 Anyway, I used to use the original Devacurl original conditioner + UFD and loved my hair. The conditioner gave the right amount of heaviness and cushioning to give the hair a weighty bounce. But once UFD changed the formula to add more glycerine and oil, the gel became a joke. Since then, I've been using it as a leave-in instead. I'm in Paris with really hard water, so using this as a leave in makes sense here. The Innersense Sweet Spirit leave in has a lot of glycerine in it as well, which negatively affects hold. That's probably partially where all that frizz came from the first time. Also, just to repeat, this mousse is very concentrated so a little bit goes a long way. I typically glaze my hair with it, just one pump per section. I think for the style you like, a leave in would work great. I dont know why leave ins and oils have become the bad guys lately, but if it makes sense, just use it.
Great video. Innersense is tricky. A little goes a long way. I use their hair bath & conditioner, I spray Sweet Spirit into my palm and work through-it’s not our standard leave in-probably intended for those with straighter hair. Then I use Uncle Funky’s or Earthtones Natural’s Curling Gelly then I add a little bit of ICD or ICH. I’ll add a little more next day or so if/as needed. Gels help to define and minimize crunch on my below shoulder, curly, coily, kinky hair.
I think you would really like the Ouai leave in conditioner. It’s light but sprays into your hand kind of creamy. It has amazing slip and softens really well. Ulta sells the travel size.
Try the Aphogee provitamin leave in conditioner spray. Pleasantly surprised by it. Also, another foam/mousse you can try is the Dippity Doo Girls with Curls mousse. Honorable mention *whispers* try the Rizos curl volumizing hairspray🙌🏿.
I really enjoy using Innersense Products. I’m going to try this combo. My hair loses definition fast but I find when I use I Create Hold the hold is holding! So interested in this combo. My stylist used I Create Definition and maybe I Create Volume. It didn’t last as long as she thought it would but I find I need a little more weight and moisture on my head for the definition to last longer.
Ive used this with the serenity smoothing cream and had the same results you did where it felt drier as the days went on but when I rinsed my hair it felt sooo soft. I think ill look into a protein free cream before trying it again. Although I love using an oil after my cream before mousse or gel but skipped it with the ICD. Ill have to try it again hopefully negating any dryness from protein. Also your hair looks fabulous! Its getting so long! I still remember you washing and styling your TWA. how times really does impact hair!
I recently purchased the serenity smoothing cream for when I do an Innersense detox and see what that does for my hair. It’s good to know how it made your hair feel so thank you so much for sharing that. I think my best bet is using Quiet Calm Curl Control as my leave in conditioner for each wash and go I do with Innersense. Thank you ❣️
😳 I was cringing at the amount of Clarifying shampoo you used in one go! I used to be that girl until I realised that you should emulsify a small amount which really does go a long way, and saves you coins on expensive products. I have the whole line and they are worth every penny especially when using the emulsifying technique. Ive heard this from several hairdressers (you say cosmotologlist in the USA)to use this technique, scalp first then spread to hair, 2nd wash with moisturising shampoo with same technique. Thanks for sharing your experiences, much appreciated.
Not me having the Bee girl custard in my hair right now 👀🤣 it's my favorite hard hold gel for my coarse hair and it doesn't dry out my hair at all. I wish this Innersense foam wasn't so expensive especially for only 6oz of product.. Because I'm very intrigued by the hold 😍
So many people love it but oh my goodness my hair felt like it would snap when I touched it. A little goes a long way of the I create definition so you wouldn’t have to use very much, but I definitely see your point.
I’ve been experimenting with mousse lately and definitely need to try this one because of the hold. I love how quick they dry, but the second day dry hair and lack of weight on my hair is annoying. I want to make it work, but haven’t found the right combo yet 😪.
I loveee the olaplex 4 in 1 mask. I use it once a month. It’s extremely concentrated and I mix it with a another rinse out conditioner like AG Boost. I don’t use too much because it’s so expensive. It easily detangles and makes it super soft. I like the innersense I create definition with another mousse like mousse def, it adds more hold. I still have a hard time finding the ratio with gels to get the right combo.
@@veronazion11 it helps with moisture the most, and might do some repairing, but I don’t think as much as number 3. I would have to read the bottle again.
Someone who is a hair scientist said potassium hydroxide is 5th on one of the Innerse products which means there is too much of a strong chemical and is teetering on the line of a relaxer.
I love the innersense sweet spirit leave in. I recently started using it and it makes my hair feel so soft. I don't use as much as you though... I just spritz it in my sections while wet. 😅
Oddly enough Innersense says that ICD is their strongest hold product, even though it is a foam. A little does go a long way. When it first came out, my stylist tried it on me and I couldn't break the cast at all. It's not a foam for twisting at all because it is a very firm hold. If you don't want that degree of hold, you need a cream for sure.
My friend is in training to be a curl stylist and we used like 3 pumps per section of my very short hair (prob 12 pumps total) and I literally had to wash my hair again because I couldn’t break the cast 😂
@@Magicwithizz I use something like 3 to 4 pumps on my entire head. More than that and I need to rewash because the cast is impossible to break. Crazy product, but it definitely does what it says once you master it!
The protein probably got you on top of the fact that the leave in was light. I want to try the quiet curl calm and the mousse, maybe you’d like that better too?
Probably. I don’t love this mousse, but I did like the results it gave me with all of those products combined. I can give it a try with the quiet calm curl control and see if I like that better, thanks for the suggestion.
The Olaplex 4 in 1 Mask seems like a really good product. Unfortunately, I don't have access to it. Interesting that the mousse had such a strong hold that and that coupled with the protein in one of the products would not have worked on my hair either. It's one of the reasons I hated using gel--at least the old school type gels as I haven't tried botanical gels yet--because my hair would always be extra hard and if I handled it a certain way, the ends would snap/break off SMH.
Bri Your hair is so beautiful. I love your videos, and your hair!! You might have already answered this question in the past . but I must ask. How often do you wash your hair? How often do you just wet your hair to prepare it for styling? How often do you protein treat your hair? I know that's 3 questions...... Please advise.
Thank you ☺️ I shampoo my hair once a week. During the summer as experimenting with cowashing my hair. For about a week I was doing it every day, but I no longer do that. Now, I shampoo once a week and a cowash mid week. These past two weeks, I haven’t been co-washing at all. Just one shampoo reset every Sunday. It really depends on the products I’m using and the weather. I do an Ola Plex, treatment, monthly, and I just started doing protein treatment monthly as well. And I always deep condition my hair, even if I’m using a regular conditioner before hand to help with the detangling. Now, I don’t think it’s always necessary, but it’s a habit I have.
Brit, you said "I do an Ola Plex, treatment, monthly, and I just started doing protein treatment monthly as well" I thought Ola Plex and Protein treatment were the same thing. is it not? I thought both of them were used as a protein treatment for your hair? Please advise .@@BrittanyMia
What are your thoughts on cowashing? Is it ok to do it in between washes? I don’t see many people discuss this anymore I know washing your hair weekly is best but I need something for in between.
I love cowashing. It’s great to do in between washes when you want to refresh. You can water wash your hair and scalp and condition your hair. As long as you are continuing to shampoo on a regular basis, cowashing can be extremely beneficial. There are no hard and fast rules though. It doesn’t have to be every week, you just have to listen to your hair. 🖤
I haven’t used this mousse since I tried it for the first time here. It’s really not for my kind of hair, but for looser textures who are trying to create a curl and hold it.
Having to use a ton of one product is a sign that that product is not for me. But that just me. I like concentrated products that I can use a little bit to get the job done. If a product cost 40 and I can only get three or four uses out of it, that’s a no go for me.
Yeah, you have a point. I used a lot the first time around but I didn’t use half as much as I used the first time during the cowash. If I didn’t love how it made my hair feel up on rinsing it out (as well as a smell) I wouldn’t use it again. But, as I said, I think it would go great under cream, so I’m willing to keep trying it out. Thanks for sharing.

I find that all anti humectant gels are like this, and this seems like a gel in the format of a foam.
Which is weird, because it sort of defeats the purpose lol.
