Yesssss I agree with you on the liking how your curls look with leave-in and curl cream. The coils are coilingggg and the shrinkage tells me it’s happily moisturized.
Uncle Funky’s Daughter is so tricky! I think it’s better for twists than wash-n-gos for me. Can’t wait to see the leave-in conditioner + mousse video! Loving the ‘fro 🥰
A little advice, try not to let conditioner, stylers, and leave-in products touch the scalp, as that can cause irritation and worsen serb derm. Love the videos!
I was literally coming on here to say the same thing. I have sd and I CANNOT do this. Even my conditioners cannot get too close to my scalp and sit in my hair for more than 10 or so minutes before my scalp will be like no. And I have my sd under control.
Nizoral shampoo. Use it on the scalp as much as you can as it dries the hair out. Put it on your scalp before you hit the shower to give it time to sit. Follow up with a regular shampoo. Of note, some products have ingredients that encourage yeast production if they are not rinsed off the scalp properly.
A little tip to help with dermatitis. Firstly, you’re doing right to wash your hair every 3 days. You almost have to in the beginning of the diagnosis but eventually, weekly will be good. I hated the shampoo prescribed by the doctor too so I stopped using it Prior to washing I would spray my scalp with a diluted mix of water and apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle. Massage scalp & let sit 5 minutes before washing. It worked like magic to keep the itch away. Now there is a shampoo I found on my own and it was far gentler than the prescription one. It works fast also but you have to wash your hair frequently like every 3 days. It’s Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo. Hair style looks beautiful on you ❤
I have dermatitis as well. I use the same shampoo ( Neutrogena T-Sal ) and I alternate with head and Shoulders deluxe shampoo. That seems to keep things under control for me. I found I had to experiment around a little to find what worked best for me.
I had to give up on UFD because it makes my hair feel like straw as I am using it. It seems to contribute to flash drying and the webbing I can’t stand. It also makes my scalp itch.
I used to love Uncle Funky's gel. The Devacurl original conditioner with UFD was my holy grail. However, they've been changing the formula for a while and this last batch was @$$. It was heavy, sticky, gunky and took forever to dry. I'm bascially done with it and will likely start making flaxseed gel and calling it a day. Anyway, my hair is a similar length after I cut it. It's in an in between stage where it seems like nothing works. I always have to remind myself that the hair is growing out and will ve back to "normal" in a few months.
so glad you’re scaling back on the products! i agree the curls looked really great with just a style cream and leave in- it will help so much with drying time which prevents hygral fatigue (this biggest culprit to natural hair damage imo)
I have this same condition and I saw a Trichologist. She recommended I take a probiotic daily and told me to make sure I do not leave my scalp wet as the yeast breeds in wet/ damp environments. I use my dryer to dry my roots or blow dry if I’m braiding it. After 2 months of doing this, my scalp doesn’t flare up or seep anymore.
Girl with my scalp I have to shampoo every week! I do not know how you do 4 weeks with SB. I combat the dryness of the scalp shampoo with a pre-poo only on the hair and a deep conditioner with heat. As you wet your hair every 2 days, do you have soft or hard tap water or a shower filter?
The Mielle mousse snapped my hair completely off! I have a great hair care regimen and after using this for about 3 years I found this to be the culprit
I have SD as well try this CICLOPIROX 1% SHAMPOO works wonders. And quarterly I take fluconazole tablets (8) two per week until they are gone at 150 mg. But so far this year I only took 2 tablets and use the shampoo 7-10 days. I could never go that long without shampooing my hair the SD was so uncontrollable. I’ve been using this for two years and my hair is flourishing!!! (Plus I stop eating so much chocolate and bread but yeah lol). Hope this can help we deserve to have a stress free life ❤
Beautiful curls! Have you tried doing it the other way around? Foam/mousse first then gel? I recently started doing this and found the foam acts as a primer for the gel to go on top. I am able to flatten a section of hair with foam easily then smooth and rake through the gel on top.
I used UFD recently and got a lot of single stranded knots (which I hardly get) but got like 5 days of definition and soft curls. Not sure what I think about it as yet 🥴
Lolll! Your love and hate relationship with wash and go's XD! I just saw your videos "i'm actually tired of wash-n-gos" and "wash and go’s are breaking off my hair" BUT! What are your symptoms for your seborrheic dermatitis? I have scalp issues that I've been treating because I didn't like any of the prescribed things and have been having success. I wonder if I should give the oil a try as well.
I would appreciate tips. My scalp is sensitive and itchy if overloaded with wrong products. I am struggling to find hair products for my natural hair( transition over a 1 year- April 2023) and cannot find a good moisturiser for my hair. Can anyone suggest hair products that have no oils etc that will cause issues with my scalp. Please
Your hair looks bomb! But I completely understand about not needing the gel. I’ve been off gels for a while and I used a custard a few weeks ago and hated how my hair was.
Yeah I’ve fallen in love with how my hair looks with leave-ins and creams again. The custards give a different look and I still like it, but I prefer the leave-in or cream without the holding stylers these days.
That fro in the beginning 😍😍!! I remember when you used the UFD in almost every single routine you posted! What are your current thoughts on KCCC? I remember when you bought 20 of them in one video and I could not stop laughing a solid min when you kept bringing them out!
😂😂 Aaah yes. I gifted a lot of them to friends and family. I kept a few and I actually prefer the KCCC over UFD curly magic. It dries quicker and holds better. I also don’t have to use as much product. I used it a couple weeks ago for an event I was going to and my curl were very defined and it looked great overall. I currently just reserved gels and holding products for special events where I want to eliminate frizz as much as possible.
@BrittanyMia I have it and forgot to try it. If you think it takes forever for the curl magic to dry, don't make the mistake of putting the heavy curl cream under it. 3 days and my hair was damp.
I have this condition! The living proof clarifying shampoo has changed my life! And ask your doctor for clobetasol solution ♥️if it’s on your edges, I put some Vaseline on the areas! I hope this helped
I have sensitive scalp and scalp dermatitis. I had to STOP using OLAPLEX. I had similar problem. Your hair is so beautiful. Consider Innate hair life brand Rosemary scalp treatment and Problem Scalp treatment. It help me so much.
I use to bleed on my scalp that was how bad is was until I started using As I am co wash for dry itchy scalp, second wash and my seborrheic dermatitis cleared. Shampoos only worsen the problem it is too harsh on the scalp and too drying on the hair.
Oh wow, I’m glad that it’s cleared up! I’ve been using that cowash for like the past month and it does a great job of cleaning my scalp. I even purchased the shampoo because the cowash is actually quite cleansing (like a regular shampoo) but I still love it and will continue to use it. So do you just use this cowash as your cleanser? Do you use any other cleansers?
@@BrittanyMia I do scrub my scalp with olive oil and brown sugar before the co was and let it sit at least 15 minutes. Then I Apply the co wash on dry hair and gently massage. Then I rinse every thing out in the shower. I only use the co wash and only shampoo once a month.
It happened over a period of time, but I believe the main culprits were testing out products that irritated my scalp, and weighing down my hair by constantly using too much styling product, which therefore contributed to my irritated scalp. And it’s Seborrheic Dermatitis.
Let me preface by saying everyones hair is different. Not only was my scalp irritated i wad also experiencing hair loss. I have alot of allergies so i started minimizing trying different products. I stopped wash n gos bc the additional heat was irritating to my scalp. I do use the medicated ketaconozole shampoo the doc prescribed. It comes in an applicator bottle. I purchased some dermarest shampoo from HEB and vanicream dandruff shampoo off amazon and i rotate between those but i put all of them in a nozzle bottle applicator. I purchased the bottles off amazon and used those tops on the bottles of shampoo. I use the amazon tops on the store bought dandruff bottles . Ill let that shampoo sit on my scalp for 5 minutes rinse follow with native peach nectar moisturizing shampoo and i think fragrance is the last thing on the list. To deep condition i use not your mother’s coconut kale conditioner cause again that fragrance is close to the bottom and i get it on sale at wholefoods. I will mix or layer this with the deep conditioner from mountain rose herbs that gas similar ingredients to some of our faves. The mountain rose herb one is fragrance free. For my leave in i use tgin green tea and seal with melanin twist cream. My ends are color treated so i will even put qhemet biologics amla heavy cream on the ends
Im allergic to hemp, all tree pollens all grass pollens, cats, dogs, dust mites. Hemp = cannabis which has terpenes terpenes can be found in mint and some other common plants. I kmow we love the plant based stuff but we may be allergic to it. Limonene and linalool are terpenes that can irritate. I had to simplify my routine to get any results. Now i shampoo every two weeks. I do moisturize and retwist. There was an oil combo i got from somewhere that had pumpkin oil, eucalyptus, jojoba, blackseed, clary sage, peppermint, cedarwood and i spray my scalp with water then apply this from a pointed tip applicator bottle. I dont know why but my scalp feels refreshed and invigorated. No reactions
As I Am has a line specifically meant for dandruff and other scalp issues. It has a blue label. You should try the shampoo and use their oil on your scalp. I got it for my ex and not only did it clear his dermatitis, his scalp was super healthy
Isn't dermatitis similar to ezecema, which is an autoimmune disease? Therefore, it needs to be treated internally through diet? This means the body has a lot of inflammation, so it needs to be detoxed and remove foods from your diet that are inflammatory and replace with anti-inflammatory foods . Also, check your vitamin deficiency. Those could play a big role with your scalp issues.
Yesssss I agree with you on the liking how your curls look with leave-in and curl cream. The coils are coilingggg and the shrinkage tells me it’s happily moisturized.
Exactly!

I try lol it’s kinda hard but working on that. Thanks!
Oh wow that’s probably why my scalp has been itchy some times. I try not to get gels on my scalp.
I was literally coming on here to say the same thing. I have sd and I CANNOT do this. Even my conditioners cannot get too close to my scalp and sit in my hair for more than 10 or so minutes before my scalp will be like no. And I have my sd under control.

Love your hair and thanks for sharing👏🏽🌺💕

The as I am scalp line is great for seb derm, fragrance free and moisturizing
I have found that fragrance free products or limited fragrance are really helpful for scalp issues.
Sis Keila, can you suggest any products please?
S/O to that Cleo Sol in the background at the 2:15 mark! 🙌🏽
Your hair looks very healthy! The shorter style looks great on you !!!

I recommend Design Essentials curl custard and mousse….it’s pretty dope🤘🏽👏🏽💕
The Mielle mousse snapped my hair completely off! I have a great hair care regimen and after using this for about 3 years I found this to be the culprit

That Mielle mousse is sooo good. I love it too ❤
Sooo good
