1:36 for anyone who wants to be able to click on it because you can’t click on his time stamp because it is 10 years old and TH-cam didn’t have that then.
I like the last video with the driver's cam. I just love hearing the sound of that twin turbo charged V10. It just has that unique sound to it compared to a Z06 vette's V8. Those two extra cylinder makes all the difference at the 1/4 mile.
@YeeSoest thanks lol the 330ci is a nice one too ;) My point is that RWD is not only for going fast in a straight line. Some cars are designed for road racing rather than drag strip racing. The Viper is one of them. A 1700 bhp Viper is not a road racer, but then again it's no longer stock either. AWD is great only with traction control. If you are racing on a course that doesn't allow usage of traction control it just doesn't matter any more.
That was an orgasm with 10 cylinders and 4 wheels...Seriously, a TT Viper is the sickest stuff in the world. Amazing how a 60-90K car with 10k worth of upgrades makes it run right up, and past the Veyron, Mclaren, any Ferarri (as if they really were competition), Lamborghini and Posrches costing over and above the price of a Viper with all the upgrades.
@KKM13200 Correct. Allows you to run a smaller turbo (relative to the boost needed per cylinder) and puts less stress on the turbo's. Only downside is you'll need 2x the room and have to deal with two turbo's, piping and oiling systems. But I think its a much better system for V type engines.
@KKM13200 because its a V10 engine. and the V layout its better to run one turbo per cylinder bank side. Helps the exhaust flow from the manifold to the turbochargers making it spool quicker.
great choice=) in germany the color is called Silbergrau metallic (silver gray), probably the same color you had! best color there is for 3series convertibles!
@TheTNSmw2 Another interesting fact is about the viper V10 originally Heffners Performance was putting twin superchargers on this motor and selling it to customers but found twin turbos worked better. Originally they were having breakage problems with the drive train (on the first gen vipers) Dodge has sense beefed up the drive train and eliminated the problem. Mitsubishi still hasn't built the AWD with the 4g63 strong enough in stock format to with stand more than 500hp
As for those dissing his reaction time. This is a common practice for boosted application in the drag racing world. The 1/4 mile time clock doesn't start until you leave the line, so they will sit there letting the boost build up and then just take off like a bat outta hell.
If you read the full write up on this session on his website, he explains the poor track conditions due to people racing cars with street tires earlier in the day which ruined the track prep. Also in the evening in Florida the humidity was atrocious so the track surface was damp. Also, keep in mind this is a full weight car, and also on moderate settings, probably nowhere near the full 1700hp. It's all about getting the car to hookup.
@carrick166 yes i understand how bracket racing works. when trying to run a quick e.t. when not in the actual race, drivers will wait till after light is green, this helps with getting the quickest e.t possible. i do understand when in the actual race, you want to put together the best package possible with your reaction time and e.t. together. like you said you can run off of your dial in but with a better reaction time than the opponent you can still win race with a better package
@Snakes709 You are 100% correct the time doesnt start until he trips the beam. I'm a regular at drag racing and .0000 is considered a perfect reaction time. In fact at the track I run (Bandimere) the give you a lapel pin for getting one. Seldom does a guy get one! Bottom line is if you dont see a redlight its good
Yah I think if you go to his website, there is a good article on the car, and the terrible conditions at the track that night. The last pass he almost lost control there for a second, but he took a chance and drove through it, and it ended up being the best pass of the night
@WarpPal ET is based on the time from start to finish. The guy could sit there for 5 minutes then go and still have an 8-9 second pass. His reaction time would just be horrendous. It also depends on what kind of timing they are doing. He obviously wasn't racing anyone and was "tuning".
@954rr21 His reaction time is like that because he needs to build boost for the turbo, thats why he revs it when the light turns green and he just sits there
@YeeSoest hey what color did you choose for your bimmer? I had an arctic silver 750i a few years ago and I loved it! One of my favorite auto makers is BMW
@Ghostt5786 Very true. its due to un-equal length axles used in front wheel drives. What you see in this vid is the effect of having massive power and front wheels that are barely touching the ground.
@YeeSoest no the ACR-X is made for sport. The ACR is completely street legal and many people own them. I have a gen IV Viper coupe and I outraced a Ferrari F430, Porsche C4S, and kept pace with a track modified NSX this summer. The point is that the Nurburgring record is (or at least was until recently) held by a rear wheel drive American made vehicle
At 1:43, if you pause it, you can see the reflection of his tailights, that's the dew and condensation on the track, the humidity is terrible there in the evening in florida
@attactedbywtf first of all, the car is full weight (for a gen2 viper that's around 3200lbs), it has a 6-speed rather than a powerglide so mid 8's are right on the money. Besides, if you push the viper's v10 over 2000hp and put an automatic transmission in there you will get very close to running 6's
@tigertic1 sure if you try to drag strip a GT-R it might not seem to be exciting or fast but the car was meant to go around a track fast... the fact it can put up a respectable 1/4 mile time is icing on the cake. Looking up Nürburgring lap times it's obvious this car was made well for what it was intended to do: beat the Porsche 911 turbo around the best race track in the world and they did.
@TheTNSmw2 I agree with you that the usual weak point for the 4g63 drive train is the clutch and pressure plate and I know it easily interchanges with the GT3000. But I also know alot of guys end up spending 40k to 60K (easy) on their turbo 4 cylinders if they want to race them as hard as Shepard consistently. My point being 60k for a motor plus development and research and parts for drivetrain and chassis refinements your in the 80k to 100k real fast... They cost the same amount to build.
@temospreamo on the stock block? guessing by the fact you said in the UAE, it must cost about as much as a loaded v12 vantage just for the engine work. got a video of this car?
@KAPTIANpancake I agree everytime he shifts the weight of the car is shifting also suspension decompresses due to the acceleration force stopping momentarily and shit, not to mention with all that power the chasis is flexing, its not easy by any means almost impossible to keep totally straight ur guna drift a bit
When running strictly for time, reaction time doesn't matter since the timer won't start until the front tire breaks the timing beam. Reaction time only matter when someone is in the other lane.
@papaown I know in single runs it gets deducted off the time anyway. But what about the practise to hone your skills? preparing for dual runs where it actually counts, where's the sense of competition?
@dabois85 uhhh?? ricers dont hold any drag records that i recall... maybe that says something? i know of a lot of vipers that run 8 seconds on street tires.
@TheFerruccio yes.... when 1700hp goes throu the back wheels the torque will make the car wanna go sideways or turne. if you have ever driven on ice or wet aspahlt with a some what strong RWD car, and floored it, it feels like the back wheels wanna get up in fornt. this is the same just its all the torque to the back wheels that makes them wanna get in foront of the car. with a car like this you either get torque steer or wheel spinn.
I put a Turbo on my '96 Firebird; not sure what it was dishing out, but I can't keep that even close to straight, it was always from take off, drifting to the side; I'm actually surprised he did so good putting Twin Turbo on a Viper! lol
@DarkDragon9275 oh i know exactly what you mean. 1700hp is a shit load of power to put down. No one is perfect but those are some damn good runs man! keep it up!! :)
@MY50GT well considering i could tell that he reacted on the 2nd yellow and the green light came on and not the red, I'd say it was good. My best RT was pretty close to that as well.
@SuperXnelsonX yeah that might be true. BUT if you have been driving a manual for a long amount of time you become experienced and know how to shift which makes it easier and about the same as an auto and sometimes the Auto shifts late which a manual either shifts or on time occassionally miss/
I can't get enough of this! Been watching it for a long time!
***** that is ONE FAST VIPER!!!!!!!
since like 2008 for me lol
Back in the days of watching Streetfire videos
And 14 years later, this video is still tough
i saw this video 6 years ago, when it had like 5000 views. my childhood xD
Lol this is my first liked vid
Same for me! Always have loved vipers.
+DeadNullermand same man!
+DeadNullermand This and the M3 CSL Top Speed video were the first car videos I saw on TH-cam.
@@the-stig-nickname i still watch the M3 video as well.
That take-off at 1.30 looks almost surreal! And the sound is beautiful! Man, I'd love to have a car like that.
10 years of this video , those are the first videos i have seen on youtube
I remember watching this video back in 2008. Still holds up, I wonder where this car is now
I remember sitting in hs blasting this video in class lmao
Nice vid. I dont know about 1700 horse, but yeah shes packing some heat big time.
UGR had the first TT Viper in the 7's... 3800 lbs with driver, T-56, and IRS. This was also in 2006!
Damn, 12 years ago. Thought I lost it.
still watching this in video 2014 : )
2015 =D
6283622826 =)
Nigel Varnado 2016 xd
2020
2021
LoL i was watching this video as a kid , thats what got me into vipers and i've never been able to find it . Tnx uploader
2:02 Is that a bomb that's just gone off? oh no its a twin turbo Viper...my mistake.
Guys, Vipers have run deep, deep 7s, lol, this is old news.
Wow. I cant imagine jumping with that kind of torque! Great job keeping it strait.
Whether or not he is the fastest or best driver, this is literally one of my all time favorite youtube car vids.
1:36 even the camera zoom couldn't keep up! A REAL BEAST
1:36 for anyone who wants to be able to click on it because you can’t click on his time stamp because it is 10 years old and TH-cam didn’t have that then.

Pretty nice video. It's amazing how at that speed & power, it's a struggle just to keep the car going straight!
omg! All Dodge Viper twin turbo videos that I watch are ridiculously crazy! :D
I like this video! Great old Viper and fine tuned twin-turbo engine, it's really cool..)))
@YeeSoest thanks lol the 330ci is a nice one too ;)

That viper is ridiculous. Nice job
Wow that's awesome! All sleeper! Great build!
It’s really cool to hear the tires ripple when the clutch is dropped.
Absolutely beautiful, a true masterpiece of machinery.
That was an orgasm with 10 cylinders and 4 wheels...Seriously, a TT Viper is the sickest stuff in the world. The launch is sounds like the pistol of a horse race...this thing is fucking scary. ..love this shit
I love the sound it makes when it takes off... Sounds like a bomb goes off
Only one word sums that up...BADASS!!
As for those dissing his reaction time. This is a common practice for boosted application in the drag racing world. The 1/4 mile time clock doesn't start until you leave the line, so they will sit there letting the boost build up and then just take off like a bat outta hell.

I can't even imagine the stress it puts on that drivetrain with launches that hook like that!
Years later an it's still getting views viper is a different breed of car really I've never saw that done in the 2014 p.n.g
@954rr21 its a test n tune the time doesnt start until he passes the start line... he is trying to build up boost to get a good launch
@Snakes709 You are 100% correct the time doesnt start until he trips the beam. I'm a regular at drag racing and .0000 is considered a perfect reaction time. In fact at the track I run (Bandimere) the give you a lapel pin for getting one. Seldom does a guy get one! Bottom line is if you dont see a redlight its good
damn!!!there was a kick from god there at the acceleration seriously!!this this is a beast!!
Yah I think if you go to his website, there is a good article on the car, and the terrible conditions at the track that night. The last pass he almost lost control there for a second, but he took a chance and drove through it, and it ended up being the best pass of the night
Sounds like it broke the damn sound barrier when it took off. Sick.
@WarpPal ET is based on the time from start to finish. The guy could sit there for 5 minutes then go and still have an 8-9 second pass. His reaction time would just be horrendous. It also depends on what kind of timing they are doing. He obviously wasn't racing anyone and was "tuning".
OH MY GOD THAT IS BADASS!!!
How on earth did you get the rumbling sound? Or is it the car behind you?
@djsynthetix You are correct. Its not a civic. What tipped you off?
Finally someone with some brains!!!!
Yea everone thinks a honda can beat this, no a honda- looking body with a racing engine can
Love the turbo sound !
props to the driver. no wheelspin with that much tp and tourqe is impressive
@954rr21 His reaction time is like that because he needs to build boost for the turbo, thats why he revs it when the light turns green and he just sits there
@cody3years
I mean, exactly how isn't it?
It posted that it was on moderate settings.
@YeeSoest hey what color did you choose for your bimmer? I had an arctic silver 750i a few years ago and I loved it! One of my favorite auto makers is BMW

@fordmanx3 no it has the 2.3L 4 banger with 31 inch a/t tires on back. it is slow as a sick dog but very tail happy
@Supervictor1211 I do believe this is the same viper but interior camera. It's put up by the same guy and it runs same times, anyways
That thing is a beast !
i love hearing this take off.
duuude, if this was HD and in fulscreen with surround sound....... ORGASMIC :)
At 1:43, if you pause it, you can see the reflection of his tailights, that's the dew and condensation on the track, the humidity is terrible there in the evening in florida
Good God!!! Now that's a car Dodge can be proud off!!!
damn that thing is all over the place
Never gets old.
@attactedbywtf first of all, the car is full weight (for a gen2 viper that's around 3200lbs), it has a 6-speed rather than a powerglide so mid 8's are right on the money. can only say:
TREMMEC, the only transmission capable to manager so much torque!
@DanglyUK. Not torque steer bro. Torque steer is something you get in front wheel or awd cars.
Damn...That's one mean ass viper!!!
that looks exhilarating
dang you have one heck of a drive train if you can launch like that! Holy Crap!
wft?! I liked this run from outside . I think the third one damn that fast
@lamborghinimeany You're 100% correct. But once again, what does the Alpha 12 have to do with anything?
When running strictly for time, reaction time doesn't matter since the timer won't start until the front tire breaks the timing beam. Reaction time only matter when someone is in the other lane.
This was one of the first " cool car vids " uploaded onto TH-cam since it's creation, cheers.
Great Grip there !
@papaown I know in single runs it gets deducted off the time anyway. But what about the practise to hone your skills? preparing for dual runs where it actually counts, where's the sense of competition?
He's getting a work out trying to keep that thing in a straight line lol awesome
Sir, I remove my hat to you. That is a fantastic street car!
@redrooster280zxt it might be the sound of the chute deploying but I'm not sure
Controling that beast with one hand!? Me gusta
@dabois85 uhhh?? ricers dont hold any drag records that i recall... maybe that says something? i know of a lot of vipers that run 8 seconds on street tires.
@azraelsmc
people leave after the light is green for a reason. this is to get the best e.t. possible. your reaction time does not come into play
a 6 year old video with better quality than most car videos that are 1 week old.
You Know when the fuel pump is as loud as the engine you are gunna have some power lol
The top speed is given by the gearbox, flywheel etc. With this question of yours you are very smart!

Not only to front wheel cars. There is torque steering in rear wheel cars too
man.. that is a real car.
@DarkDragon9275 oh i know exactly what you mean. 1700hp is a shit load of power to put down. No one is perfect but those are some damn good runs man! keep it up!! :)
@ThePkownu dont for get the wildly big wing that makes it go faster..
love how it took until this year for traction control to be put into the vipers.. lol i love em tho:D
You can tell he's having a hard as hell time controlling that beast, look at it drifting left to right lol
