Everyone is asking me why I'm so happy to get the surgery. I'm just thinking well definitely not because I wanna have a surgery and for sure not because of the pain no! It's because I wanna be able to actually bite and smile in pictures for the first time in my life!

I am currently 6 days post op and let me tell you, this has been one of the hardest procedures I have ever been through. This video did help a lot though because I just feel like everyone around me doesnt understand what I'm going through... The pain is somewhat manageable, I just cant wait to get this wire taken out!!!

You've just had jaw surgery? Can you tell me how the first week is and how bad the swelling and pain is so far for you. I'm getting double jaw surgery this December and I just want to know everyone's perspective of it that I can get!! Thanks! +kateashley01 oh I'm SO rooting for you! I had a certain kind of skin apparently that swelled more than normal, so I was a rare case. But don't let the swelling get to you! It swells a LOT then it goes down really quickly. Now I still have quite a bit of swelling in my jaw area. TIPS- ICE ICE ICE!! Always keep your "ice bra" cold, always change it. Use the nasal spray (they should give you prescription) it will help especially at night!! (And I also got saline spray, so I'm not constantly using chemicals and medication.) if you try to use a spoon for food and get discouraged like I did. I got a large syringe and just use that with smoothies- it's nice for that first week when you can't open your mouth. I actually still use my syringe for thicker stuff like oatmeal. But i can now drink most liquids out of a cup. Know you'll be numb longer than you think. I'm still numb in my lower lip and chin. You GOT this girl, healing COMES. God is on your side :) I think if I write more it cuts off

Would you say you look better after the surgery or worse? I got my lower jaw done three weeks ago. I’m still swollen. My swell hasn’t completely gone down yet. My teeth is still wired together. The pain and numb is completely gone but I’m sooo depressed because of how different I look. I don’t like the look of my new face. I look like I have an overbite with a round face. I hate it so much. Everybody around me says I look better before the surgery. That makes it even worse for me to hear it. I just hope I will look back to normal. I really hate my new face. This cause my depression to be worse. I don’t even want to step outside.

Im going to get my surgery in about a year (ince my teeth are in the right position) and im ALREADY freaking out about it 😰 im so worried about the healing process and the pain and im a very squeamish person when it comes to blood and wounds and stuff
I am 9 days away from lower jaw surgery and this might be the first night i have stressed about it :( I refused to think about it too much or look online to any reason and right now I am glad I did. In such a short video I feel 10x better because it is everything I expected and nothing worse.

Yes I can! It took awhile for my jaw to get strong enough to that level again but now I absolutely can. Thanks for asking!

I can say the healing process can take longer than 2 years. Im just now able to brush my lower gums without them being Uber sensitive
Day 10 and I HAD TO GO BACK FITNESS. Still can't chew, jaw was major dislocated. Swelling is coming down fast. I just did a stupid, bought a granola bar and right here I find myself sucking down a granola bar.

Do you have any suggestions for exercises to be able to open my mouth more? I'm on week six post op from double jaw surgery. Also, did you get alot of ear pain and the sound of being underwater sometimes? My ears get sharp pains and sometimes I hear noises like the pressure is adjusting. My doctor says it's normal from inflammation, but it's really painful. I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced this 5-6 weeks out? Thank you for your time and help 😊.

Amanda my situation. I'm having lower and upper jaw surgery to relieve Sleep Apnea. Is this crazy? I could wear a mouth piece at night or a mask and avoid jaw surgery but with Surgery the Sleep Apnea will be gone. I won't stop breathing in my sleep any more. In my situation is it worth the pain and agony? It's not too late. I'm having wisdom teeth pulled 10 Dec, jaw surgery 6 months after that. Is this crazy for my situation. My jaw and my bite is good it's just the sleep apnea which I'm being told will be repaired. Should I or shouldn't I?

I’m glad your surgery went well. You look beautiful. I got it and got a horrendus nerve injury I was never told about. My lip and chin sting to a level where I become the pain if I’m not medicated. I’m the 2 percent with the pain. Not everyone will be happy they got the surgery. I’m living in hell and it’s been 5 years
Mines was fractured due to a fall on jan12 dr.saysi will be out the rubber bands on February 8th I'm hoping so i can eat some soft food. This is the hardest part for me eating but God is with me😔

I have terrible TMJ. I wake up with my jaw clamped shut and unable to open, im scared to yawn and chew because my jaw will pop and crack and it hurts so bad. My tmj started on the left side of my jaw,but has now moved to the right side and its just a comstant ache. It feels like something is under my back molars pushing up on them, trying to pop my teeth out.

I have had a liver biopsy at one point because of an auto immune issue I have. My liver at the time was very inflamed so it was a very painful and long recovery. So painful in fact, if the remote was JUST out of reach, I wouldn't even bother. I didn't want to go through the pain of slightly inching. Sooo hello 12 hour Gilligan's Island marathon...
Though, I'm supposed to have a jaw surgery coming up. Thankful I will have mobility so I don't have to go through that again!

Shanice D I just had surgery 5 days ago and I'm up walking around, hardly any pain, doing things for myself, laughing and feeling great! I think the most important things afterward is to stay hydrated and get lots of nutrition! Make sure you're "eating". I want to do more than I'm allowed. You will do great!!
I really wonder how it feels to hear that click sound! :) I have an underbite since my childhood and I'm 26 years old now. I feel like it's not too late to start, I have intended to do this but the process with the braces (2 years) seemed like such a long time. so never really got courage to do it, these videos keep giving me at least a bit of hope and courage, so thanks!

@@simrannoo hello! I’m 4 months PO. I visit another oral surgeon. He told me my chin is recessed that’s why my face is not balanced. I agree with him. I’m considering genioplasty.
My advice is be careful who operate on your face. Choose someone who cares about the function and the aesthetic part. Those come in big hand. Whenever you have the consultation with a surgeon, make sure he listens to your concern and REALLY communicate with the outcome. Communication is KEY.

hey thank you for asking! well everything went perfectly fine!! there was a big change my friends couldn't believe it was life changing indeed. there is a positive psicological change as well I fully recommend the surgery to anyone facing this problem
Thanks for the reply, I have a massive "deep bite" causing my lower jaw to be forced pushed back, causing excruciating pain throughout every day.
I'm in the process of getting things taken care of.

hi mam am from india i had my surgery 1month ago and still i have some issues like my surgery was done on th left side of my lower jaw , but when i bite my left side seems to touch each other first and the right side isn't there is a tiny gap between them... and also can you suggest any jaw excercise so that i could open my mouth to its full potential

If your bone structure is not done growing and you are young when you get the surgery, then yes, it could technically be possible. Please consult with your oral surgeon for more information!
