I wish you were my ortho. Mine doesn't talk to me and I feel lost. You explain very well and it reassures me. I need jaw surgery but I am waiting for a decision of my insurance to help me to pay the charges.

I’m gonna cry this ortho told me no ortho will put braces on my teeth unless they break my jaw n cut out all 4 of my wisdom teeth … they cut all 4 of them out now I’ve had nerve damage since March 22 2021 can’t feel half of my bottom lip on left side or all my chin. It tingles when I touch it . They said 2 years I could get feeling back … I went for a ct scan in June now it’s September they won’t tell me my results of what happened or answer my calls . So I’m gonna keep calling .. the man who did my surgery for my wisdom teeth said I wouldn’t even be a candidate for jaw surgery. The ortho just didn’t want to do it

hello! I was prepared for this surgery about 2 years ago..i had to wear braces for 3 years ..but unfortunately i didn't go for the surgery..now i want to do it again.. should i have to repeat this process for 3 years again?

This surgery is NOT for anyone who isn't finished with puberty. If you cut into bones and they continue growing throughout the teen years, it could really screw up A LOT.
I'm also concerned that 11-year-olds are having exams. Who would do that to kids that age? Haha

@@muhammadaliraza5559 hell no, that's exactly why they shouldn't go there. it is expensive in us for a reason, the surgeon's experience , the medical staff, equipment etc, going to do this kind of surgery in a third world country would be risky.
@@Leon.27.06 Well Pakistan exports surgical equipment to the US, pakistani doctors are reknowned as world famous, the reason why it's so cheap is because Pakistani hospitals are state run. I got an open heart surgery at 2 for the same price, never had a problem again

Zelaya if its medically needed like a crossbite or underbite it should be covered by insurance. Not sure abt non medical reasons...
What age is too old to do jaws surgery, doctors ?
My local surgeons take cases from patients anywhere between teenagers and 60 years old. Bone replacement rate slows around mid thirties, so healing will be slower the older you get. You have to wait until your bones stop growing (around 20s) to have this surgery. So I'd say take the time you need to learn about the procedure and find a good doctor that fits your financial and insurance situation, but don't delay getting a consultation if your or your ortho believe you need it.

@@Bellantheiaa for me, it’s not that pain cuz u will have painkillers and Advil. I stopped using them after first week. Try to use ice and heat packs. I bought jaw braces from Amazon for heat packs and a roller to massage and reduce my swollen.
