So I agree you should treat the cause when possible, but you don’t do jaw surgery without not being able to change the cause. In my younger years my lower jaw simply did not grow enough, no braces, nothing helped. With the failed treatment enough time had passed for my jaw to not grow anymore. This left me with an overbite of 2,5 cm. I’m sorry but it’s just not functional. I had to tear everything I ate with my mullers, because my front teeth at no point would be together. I don’t regret a thing. I can eat normally, breath normally, close my lips, etc. It was one of the best things I ever did, even though it was only a year ago. It changed my life so much, so don’t be scared away by this. If it would improve your functioning and quality of life, do it if you want to.
thats literally what he said....Do surgery if the goal is to do more than something superficial and to promote forward growth, which is what happened for you.
Dear Mr Mew, I deeply believe you have put some rather substantial recommendations forward in this video. I closely understand your rationel and strongly agree with your suggestions, however, one question that has surged concerns the extent to which it is possible to further implement "proper tongue posture", "tongue chewing", as well as other methods for facial betterment that you propose after a possible jaw operation has been undertaken. To explicitly tell whether surgery or alternative methods are more effective, it is essential to understand how the face will function differently after a jaw surgery. Especially with the advancements taking place, what real impact does a jaw surgery deliver surrounding "form/shape" and how can this affect the methods you are suggesting?
I regret this surgery, I was happy before it. And it took a cute toll o me, my spirit, my mind and my body. I'm 8 months post surgery and I feel miserable. I have trouble concentrating. My body isnt the same as it uses to be, and I have constant headed. Before the surgery I was working on my toungue posture and considered myself atractive and confident. I'm neither confident, nor feel healthy. My speech has also changed. Mayne it was because I'm in a stressful environment.
My eyesight has worsen, I look tired and drained. The skin around my face is very lose. And I'm not liking the way I'm healing at all. I look so old now. I hate this. I hate the survey. Before the surgery I was asked to cancel. But I was scared I was going to regret my choice.

Angie Schwart he says we can improve our face by changing our tongue position, press your tongue to the roof of your mouth while keeping your mouth closed, breath like this and basically make that position your neutral position, if you do this for a long period of time your face shape would change for good being jaw surgery unnesesary. But at the end he says jaw surgery can be also done if the case needs it. Basically is not to do jaw surgery before had tried to change tongue position. Sorry for my english, it's not my native language but i hope this helps
I'm watching your video and it doesn't seem like you have a weaker lower jaw. You look really cute actually. I corrected my tongue posture (according to Dr. Mew) 3 days ago and I can already tell that I'm brething much better now. I also started mewing a bit and I can feel the pain of the muscles under my lower jaw, when they work and I love it. If I won't see any results at all I won't be mad though, because my tongue posture is not much better so my breathing is good.
@@ChowMeinChowdown Even this isn't set in stone, I have read medical papers where orthos were able to achieve mandible expansion with a bioblock type appliance.
@@Tammc09 which ones? It's common ortho knowledge that the mandible is set and expansion after full development is more likely teeth tipping. But we still do not know a lot of things like exactly how the mandible grows, so personally I think it is not entirely impossible. It he also changed the way I breath for the better. Now the only thing I worry about is when I get surgery. Will I maintain the good posture I have achieved by continuing with these habits? Please reply soon as possible Thanks (I watched the video about forward head posture and its relationship to the tongue position in the mouth - in case you were wondering)
Just put your tongue on the position it is when you swallow, otherwise if you try to press your tongue on the roof of your mouth intentionally you'll get tired fast
I am going to consult with a few more orthodontists. A week ago, I went to one, and she told me that, at my age (21 years old) and having done a previous treatment of braces, it may be better to go through surgery to expand maxilla and the mandible, instead of getting a device like a kind of similar to a DNA appliance one. What should I do???, honest and serious answers please, I also wait for your reply Mike, thanks btw
I would go specifically to a "functional orthodontist" vs. a regular orthodontist, and tell them you want to try a device before surgery. You are still young. Unless your circumstances are critical, I would try an appliance/s 1st. It's your money and your choice.
Just buy a maxzilla expander online, those are way safer than those dentists use. One of those plastic ones, DO make sure its a low allergy one - nickel free. Using chewing gum or even better mastic gum can get your jaw forward half a centimetre more, also gives mike mew jaws.

Oh c'mon i have been mewing for 4 months and watching mewing videos and fixing my mistakes. However my face hasn't changed at all and i am 15 year old. What should i do?
See a practitioner who can provide you with a biobloc or homeoblock appliance to train you to subconsciously to maintain the rest position: tongue on the roof of the mouth, lips sealed, upper and low teeth lightly touching for 8 hours a day at least.
I am 16 now lol but no changes in appereance, but even after removing my retainer my teeth have moved only a little bit because i wasn't sealing my mouth shut during sleep so i was mouth breathing. And i am taping my mouth now during the night and we'll see what happens, so mewing comes with a lot of benefits for sure
I tried mewing since i was 15 now im 20 and i still cant keep my tongue of the roof of my mouth. I know i need the surgery especially because i cant breath with correct tongue posture and my tongue feels too big for my mouth. Additionally people keep calling me ugly.

Thank you , I was trying to think of this for over 12 hours

you're a good man dr. mike mew.
Especially with the advancements taking place, what real impact does a jaw surgery deliver surrounding "form/shape" and how can this affect the methods you are suggesting?
yup
I'm so sorry to hear that. How old are you? Did you have the double jaw surgery?

I'm watching your video and it doesn't seem like you have a weaker lower jaw. You look really cute actually. I corrected my tongue posture (according to Dr. Mew) 3 days ago and I can already tell that I'm brething much better now. I also started mewing a bit and I can feel the pain of the muscles under my lower jaw, when they work and I love it. If I won't see any results at all I won't be mad though, because my tongue posture is not much better so my breathing is good.
Ma'am if you want a stronger lower jaw I suggest chewing gum more often. As of for the overbite, only surgery can correct it.

yea for adults i heard it takes longer
it's actually the opposite, since a suture exists for the maxilla and not the mandible
You should try facepulling with a belt.
