When at the Opera House, go around the front (waterside) of it and check out the steps that go down into the water. There is a seal (Benny) who lives there and often sunbakes on the steps, you can get a pic of him framed with the Bridge in the background for an interesting thumbnail!
Wow wow wow, Lee! I asked and you delivered. So many thanks for swinging by the Perth cricket ground before your departure from Perth. Looking forward to the Sydney sights through Macmaster eyes! Onwards my friend.
Just a tip, you can get off the train at museum station (or central). Would've been much closer. I assimed you were staying around the harbour when you got off at circular quay! Enjoy tour stay in Sydney. Be sure to take a day trip to visit the Blue Mountains too. And please try some of the many Asians cuisines, Indian and Middle Eastern. Vietnamese Banh Mi is very popular in Sydney. (Pork roll is the classic). Spice Alley near Central station has quite a few good options and lovely outdoor setting. Another suggestion is a HSP, which you can get from any kebab shop. It's basically chips with cheese on top, then shaved kebab meat on top lf thay and the trio of sauces (garlic , bbq, and chilli). Charcoal chicken is popular too. Portuguese places. Actually a Lebanese place does great stuff -El Jannah. They have a few places around sydney suburbs. If you do end up hoing to Clovelly beach, "Out of the blue " does really good fish and chips. I haven't been in a few years but it was really good last i was there. Might have even been where the JOLLY guys went. Theres lots of seafood options , Sydney is surrounded by water. Just depends where you end up. I always say, ask the locals.
Wow, it’s changed since I was there in 1968. I’m from the Boston region and I was there when I was in the Navy. It was like being in the US in the 50’s. Spent most of my time in the Kings Cross area. Have fun mate.
Kings Cross isn't what it was.. Still a few pubs but becoming gentrified and Sydney's nightlife now a lot more spread out. You might remember the Bourbon and Beefsteak near the fountain, currently a construction site for apartments and a hotel, though a pub will remain on the ground floor.
You should take the ferry to Manly. Got to go to Darling Harbour, also Chinatown. Try the Emperor Puffs out the Chinese bakery. It’s a thing, Look up John Torode for tip) try Chinese food courts in Chinatown. Laksa is a fav. George Street for a wander. Barangaroo for wander. Oh def go to the Rocks! See also oldest pub near the rocks. Blue Mountains Hunters valley if you can go up the coast, if not the swan River wine cruise when back in Perth. Sooo much and I love it. Dont forget the tower and Star Casino area (Billy Connolly) If you dare, walk the bridge x

I am so jealous, I wish i was there with you. Now make a note Lee, you must take the ferry to Manly and do the walk, you must visit the Chinese Garden, I think you are probably too late to book the Bridge climb but try anyway. The Blue Mountain are a must see as well. I don't know how much time you have in Australia but Cairns is well worth a visit, you need to snorkel the Barrier Reef and visit Kuranda it is really well good. Don't forget to buy a boomerang and an Akubra hat, would suit you well.
Same thing happened when I was trying to go from Perth to Singapore in Feb ‘23. The baggage carousels wouldn’t work and what should have been a 5 minute exercise took 2 hours. Just use real people not machines In Sydney do the Bondi- Coogee walk and also go to Doyle’s on the beach for fish and chips at Watson Bay. Absolutely beautiful. You can catch a ferry there from Circular Quay. Finally Manly beach is very good. Enjoy Sydney, it’s a great great city.
🍔HUNGRY JACKS🍔 Explanation: When Jack Cowin, an Australian businessman, went to open the chain's first franchise Down Under in 1971, there was already a local restaurant called Burger King that had the name trademarked. To avoid any confusion, he went with the name Hungry Jack's, most likely inspired by his own namesake. The first Australian franchise of Burger King Corporation was established in Innaloo, Perth, on 18 April 1971, under the auspices of Cowin's new company Hungry Jack's Pty Ltd.
Love when you said its got a bit ot London and a bit of New York. It was very fitting with the majestic QM2 in port. On a side note, Perth also has a train from the city to airport in 15 mins for no more than $5 ($1.50 concession)
Nice friendly couple, Love the Prestige limo guy Darren, he looked the part, so glad you hooked up, a win win for all of us. Love the room that Shower and the Hotel receptionist, gotta love the Brit Babes.
Great vlog Lee, the clarity is amazing, I know you work hard on the editing & it shows. You are in the best country in the world, every state is different, so much to see, you'll have to come back my friend.
The window height on the plane Lee, is Boeing design. It's the same height on every Boeing 737, no matter what series, or airline, or whether you sit in sardine class down the back, or in toff class up the front.😊
That lamp in the hotel room looks like something you'd buy at an Ann Summers party for men. It could come in handy if you're there for Mardi Gras lol. Controversial....Great video as always.
when i went to Sydney i stayed in the Kings Cross area and thought it was great, my favourite bar was Bourbon and Beefsteak. while in Sydney try and do a stadium tour of the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) one of the worlds most iconic cricket grounds.
Bourbon and Beefsteak got remodelled to a more upmarket bar called The Bourbon in the early 2000s. The whole block is currently demolished other than the white facade for a new apartment and hotel development, but a bar will return.
Oh my Lee, you found an oldie and a last hurrah from a manufacturer called "Fokker" at 14:15 The Fokker 100, and still in revenue service, an aircraft with quite the legacy as well, and the last sample rolled of the assembly line in 1998, even though Fokker bankrupted and disappeared in 1996. The aircraft you looked at and shot a picture of is even older, 32 years and started it's life in America.
i forgot how much i liked Sydney! got some great stories from my stay there some fantastic bars I've forgot the names of now..! one of the best Chinatowns I've ever been to, go inside the indoor mall there with all the food stalls
When Jack Cowin, an Australian businessman, went to open the chain's first franchise Down Under in 1971, there was already a local restaurant there called Burger King that had the name trademarked. To avoid any confusion, he went with the name Hungry Jack's, most likely inspired by his own namesake
Looking forward to exploring Sydney with you, my granddaughter is in Rose bay and loving it. It was great watching you landing and I can imagine the thrill she would have had 😊
Enjoy Sydney, our adopted home town after emigrating from UK, love it! Touristy stuff like Circular Quay, Opera House, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Barangaroo etc all good fun but so many other places to go and trains dead cheap compared to UK so head out to Blue Mountains if you get a chance. so beautiful. Closer to city you have Watsons Bay, Paddo (Paddington), Surry Hills, Redfern for breweries, the list goes on.
As others have suggested try Watson’s Bay. A picturesque ferry trip from Circular Quay only takes about 20 minutes. Great views back to the City skyline, nice fish and chip shop and pleasant walks in a laid back location. You can catch a bus back to the City that goes via Bondi Beach.
I lived in Sydney 30 years ago when it was much less hectic than it is today. Everything there is now very expensive. I like to visit but would never live there nowadays. Kings X is extremely quiet nowadays compared to the 80s and early 90s which is a bit disappointing. The Rocks used to be a great night out however I don't know what it is like nowadays. Definitely do a beach walk, ride a ferry, visit the Blue Mountains (check the forecast before as it can get unexpectedly foggy) and check out the south coast via train if you can spare a day (Kiama is nice).
Perth is in a flatter area surrounded by large hill range (Darling range), which Kalamunda resides on. Basically Perth area stretches north (almost Yanchep) and south (Mandurah)and doesn't go over the range so once you go past Kalamunda you are moving into almost unchartered territory most of the population in WA is in the Perth basin region. Was told once apparently its bit precarious for flying into Perth airport as the winds affected by the it's closeness to the range make it bit difficult to land and take off though probably modern planes have less of an issue with this. Yanchep in my days was considered far away and something one would do on a weekend for something different. Bunbury/Busselton were other popular holiday locations - good for surfing too. Mandurah used to be so far away now is a suburb of Perth.
Watching an earlier video I saw and roadside sign for Hungry Jacks in the Burger King logo and thought to myself how have they got away with that? I need to Google why it has a different name now too lol
@The Macmaster you are right about Hungry Jack!.The was already a restaurant called that in Aus.Really enjoyed seeing so much Aussie sun here in blighty "at least through your videos". Enjoy the rest of your trip and have fun bud👍
Get the ferry to Manly, my favourite spot. Nice seaside type place with great ocean beach. Last time there I stayed at the Q station which is the old quarantine station now a hotel.
The approach to Sydney airport on either runway 16L or 16R is the money shot....usually brings gasps of amazement from travellers on board seeing it for the first time. 👍
I just found your channel, and I like it. Welcome to Sydney I am London born and I’ve lived In Sydney for almost 43 years. I’ve never been to Perth. Sydney is nice I hope you enjoy it I will be watching your journey
That was a great view of the city from the plane landing. I haven’t been on many flights with views like that. When taking off or landing all I see are industrial/suburban areas.”😕
Worked out in oz a few times in early mid nineties, and went a few times with my wife & son. Loved it. Probably should have moved there, but sort of blew it. Love Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Red centre. Even Canberra. Missed out on Brisbaine & Darwin. Maybe one day.
Aww Ciao Perth 😢 I bet it was emotional leaving after such a lovely visit. I've loved every minute of it and, am looking forward to travelling onwards with you ❤
Good to see you had a good journey without turbulence and brilliant you keep meeting lovely people on your travels. My, you're really putting the hours in. Great video. Thanks Lee.
Hey Hun those trains were brilliant two floors . and they were very clean and plenty of seats on there never seen anything like that before two floors on a train . we could do with something like that in the UK xxx
Flown into Sydney hundreds of times on that course over Northern beaches Sydney Harbour opera house and Bridge. Never get sick of it. Hint to all travellers get window on left hand side.
Great video, think I’ve got some competition! They look like a pretty standard airline, nothing to shout about. Although the free tea and coffee reminds me of SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) as they also do free tea and coffee on all flights. Beautiful approach into Sydney. Seems quite expensive for what you get. However this is coming from someone who frequently flies to North America/East Asia etc for £150-£300 return. £300 is my limit for any flight booking, although I would pay extra to visit Australia. I’ve got several trips to Johannesburg coming up which were less than £200 return each. And I’m currently in southeast India which cost around £220 return from London (6 flights each way though!) But I suppose in similar ways to Canada, domestic flights in Australia aren’t cheap, and you booked it just 4 days out. You’re never going to get flights for £10 like you can in Europe with Wizz Air or Ryanair etc. I’m sure the taxes and fees associated with flying in Australia are a lot higher
Flew Virgin Blue from Sydney to Melborne quite some time ago, cabin crew where brilliant, on on the tanoy during the safety drill a female attendant said "we turn the cabin lights down on take off as per flight rules, truth is we do it to enhance the beauty of the cabin crew, we all look better in twilight" Now check your seat belts are tight and lets get ready for blaaaasstt off
If you pay a little extra and go economy X , row 3 or 14 are best on the Boeing 737 , it will solve your legroom issues . Loving your videos so far . Glad you enjoyed my hometown of Perth .
A very enjoyable video. You can certainly see the change in scenery from the plane of Perth being more dry and it getting green and lush as you get to the east. Then, as you say, the change in vibe from laid back to chaotic. I think I'd like Sydney to visit but Perth to live, and as the receptonist said, Perth maybe ok if you're older. Ha! I'm glad though, that my travelling days are over because I really couldn't be arsed with the swiping, tapping and scanning of everything nowadays, it's very offputting, bring back the people service. I'd have had a right meltdown over the suitcase check-in you had, Grrrrr!
Mac Lad, get to Irish bar at the rocks in Sydney. To Steak pie there. Visit QVB in Sydney and rhe Strand malls. Very Victorian buildings. Enjoy Sydney.
G,day lee have fun in Sydney the tower that you were looking at on your way to the motel is call centrepoint tower it about 1,000 feet height it got a 360 view lookout and a restaurant i have be there many year ago it was great i was nearly going to go back to the centrepoint tower again just afer Christmas till i found out the prices i change my mind, the price is between $35-$65.the centrepoint tower enter is inside the Westfield shopping centre that why the centrepoint tower got Westfield logo on it take care have fun in Sydney 🇦🇺😀
Nice trip, good to see the green and clouds again, what we thought was funny was at reception as you were talking all we could see on the telly was murders and lightening hitting people in Sydney😳😳😳😆take care and have a good time cobber
If you google the bodies in the barrels murders” thats what was on the tv. Horrific murders. A long way away from Sydney in South Australia, Snowtown serial killer murders From 1992 to 99
I always pay the extra and get a seat in row 3. The extra cost ($50.00AUD) to select the seat is well worth it for those of us who are over 155cm. I do the Sydney to Perth trip every year.
I've got the best of both worlds, I live in Glenbrook in the Lower Blue Mtns so an hour from the CBD by train (very cheap in Sydney realistically) but so much quieter.
Wow amazing view of Sydney on arrival. I went to Sydney for the first time last year, absolutely loved the place! I know you’ve already got your return flight but economy x are the better seats. Believe it or not, it rained here in Perth today. Enjoy Sydney!
It's a bit cold today but it looks like you've got good weather for it. If you happen to go up to the Northern Beaches maybe try The Upper Crust for pies and sausage rolls. Lamb and rosemary is one of my favourites. 👍
Harbour Rocks area, great pubs Fortune of War, The Phillips Foote, Manly (Take the ferry from Circular Key), Blue Mountains. Have a great time, greets from UK.
Those arial shots of Sydney as you flew in.. *chefs kiss* I forget how green Sydney and it's surrounds is although given the amount of rain and bad weather we've been having lately I'm not surprised! Looks like you're staying in a great location - you're only a short walk from Surry Hills with its amazing restaurants and cafe culture. Oxford St is nearby and with the upcoming Mardi Gras the vibe will certainly be entertaining. You're a short stroll for shopping along Pitt St Mall or nearby Queen Victoria Building. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to food - I do recommend checking out Spice Alley (opposite UTS on Broadway) or the Chinatown district just north of the Paddy's Markets tram stop and south of Darling Harbour if you like asian food. Good fish and chips are in abundance around any of the beach areas and the Sydney Fish Markets of course. The long coastal walk between Bondi and Coogee beach is a must do on a nice day with amazing coastline. On a sunny day the walk along Darling Harbour, through Barangaroo reserve, under the bridge, through the Rocks district, Circular Quay and botanical gardens lets you take in the city and harbour. A ferry accross to Manly is a definite must-do. A two hour train ride west of Sydney puts you in Katoomba and the Blue Mountains - highly recommended for a day trip. Hope you enjoy your stay mate - there's a lot you can do for free in Sydney when it comes to museums and galleries and just taking in the atmosphere outdoors but do avoid eating out near any of the main tourist areas, you'll pay a fortune. Welcome to Sydney.
All great recommendations. Never done Spice Alley - next time we're in the City. Also add a look over Warragamba Dam (near spilling) and areas South of Sydney like the Royal National Park, Kiama, that blo**y bridge that appears in EVERY car advert etc. Must admit in 20 years here it's never been so green over summer. Our dog can't handle it, it's like is this wet green grass thing, my precious paws might get wet? Give me dirt every time would be hr view and a bedroom with A/C to sleep in - Staffy/Terrier mix, lovely but thinks she's a super model. Miss my Scottish Deerhound!
Thanks for making Perth look as dull as dishwater 👍 Doyles on the Beach worth a look whilst you’re in Sydney nice location but don’t expect the food to be amazing. I drove from Melbourne to Sydney over 5 days (why not do that but the other way) along the coast road nice trip, couldn’t wait to get out of the cities though, so much more to Australia, where I could see myself actually living.
You need to venture out of the city to visit Mount Panorama also known as Bathurst. You might have missed the two major motorsport events held there recent being the Bathurst 500 with the Australian version of the British Touring Car Championship with V8 muscle cars.
Big bus. Sidney open top bus stops near ferry port to the left of it as you look at ferrys on corner of road traffic lights just ask info desk or locals
Burger King in Australia was already trademarked with a takeaway shop in Adelaide before American Burger King came to Oz, so they went with Hungry Jacks, that's one for the little guy against corporate America.....

I love looking at the desert from the plane, it looks like an Aboriginal painting. That's the perspective they illustrate from a view from above.

Straight away if had the opportunity to move to Oz I would pick Perth, less busy and more chilled out and quiet, my kind of lifestyle
Fun fact: you can sit in the front, next to the driver, in a taxi or any other chauffer service with no issues. It's an Australian laid back custom.

Thanks for that, I was thinking it was one of those, with a nice 5 litre motor Id bet.

Great vlog. Wow, everything in that country looks spotless and well kept. Makes the UK look like it needs a good tidy up and a pressure wash.
Welcome to Sydney… 37:24 that is part of my worksite, building a new taxiway
So glad you’re experiencing Sydney! The best city in the world and a real sense of adventure.
was the best until terrorist protests changed it.,.

You should do the coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi. The scenery is breathtaking
Stop off at Coogee Pavilion. Great little bar
Now the only thing left to do is to drive a Nissan Leaf from Sydney back to Perth. See how long that takes. 😅
Hey Hun those trains were brilliant two floors . and they were very clean and plenty of seats on there never seen anything like that before two floors on a train . we could do with something like that in the UK xxx

Try getting to the Blue Mountains, at Katoomba there is an Irish pub at the railway station. Welcome to Sydney.
Sydney, very best fish and chips @ Doyle's on the Beach, Watsons Bay, a must must when in town.
You should go to the Rocks there is a pub there called the mercantile its where Paul Hogan used to go and drink after working on the harbour bridge
A trip to the Sydney fish markets is an event in itself.
Oh cod the fish markets are great what a plaice!
'Bring back people' you mean like the person who attached the luggage tag so the scanner couldn't read it 😅
Flew Virgin Blue from Sydney to Melborne quite some time ago, cabin crew where brilliant, on on the tanoy during the safety drill a female attendant said "we turn the cabin lights down on take off as per flight rules, truth is we do it to enhance the beauty of the cabin crew, we all look better in twilight" Now check your seat belts are tight and lets get ready for blaaaasstt off
To be fair the don’t need to turn the lights down…
If you pay a little extra and go economy X , row 3 or 14 are best on the Boeing 737 , it will solve your legroom issues .
That hotel room looks like the designer was an original star trek fan.
Mac Lad, get to Irish bar at the rocks in Sydney. To Steak pie there. Visit QVB in Sydney and rhe Strand malls. Very Victorian buildings. Enjoy Sydney.
Chicko rolls needs a splash of Lea and Perrins Worcestershire.
A long way away from Sydney in South Australia, Snowtown serial killer murders From 1992 to 99
I think the carpet would make me sick!🤣
Totally different City to Perth I prefer Perth any day of the week.
Watching your series from Aus. you see how far behind the UK is. It’s like we’re stuck in the dark ages.
I've been to Sydney 3 times found it fantastic one of the best places for international cuisine
Another great vlog Lee hope you enjoy yourself in Sydney take care keep safe Sheila and family
I always pay the extra and get a seat in row 3. The extra cost ($50.00AUD) to select the seat is well worth it for those of us who are over 155cm. I do the Sydney to Perth trip every year.
A 737 and the door didn't fall out. Bonus!!!!
I definitely prefer the calm of Perth more than busy Sydney.
I've got the best of both worlds, I live in Glenbrook in the Lower Blue Mtns so an hour from the CBD by train (very cheap in Sydney realistically) but so much quieter.
I would have died laughing if the scanner had come up with a “preparing to charge” and the spinning wheel came on for 15 mins before failing!!
Omg Lee that hotel room is amazing can't wait to see what Sydney has to offer
Nice one lee enjoyed you're vlog thanks for taking us with you hope you have a great time in Sydney 👍looking forward to it
You flew over my apartment and landed at my work place
Enjoy. Get your self to hero of Waterloo. Best pub food mercantile in the rocks
Wow amazing view of Sydney on arrival. I went to Sydney for the first time last year, absolutely loved the place! I know you’ve already got your return flight but economy x are the better seats. Believe it or not, it rained here in Perth today. Enjoy Sydney!
Lee, you've gotta visit Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin, Cairns... as well. I think you need to do another trip mate 😂
It's a bit cold today but it looks like you've got good weather for it. If you happen to go up to the Northern Beaches maybe try The Upper Crust for pies and sausage rolls. Lamb and rosemary is one of my favourites. 👍
Yes Lee, Burger King was already a registered name in Australia
Harbour Rocks area, great pubs Fortune of War, The Phillips Foote, Manly (Take the ferry from Circular Key), Blue Mountains. Have a great time, greets from UK.
When I travel by plane I wrap a light colour wool around the handle of my luggage. Easy to spot when picking up after flight.
Great video! You really make the viewer feel as though they are experiencing it with you.
Cracking video Mac, lovely hotel room, take care mate 🤝
Go sydney then perth
You need to venture out of the city to visit Mount Panorama also known as Bathurst. You might have missed the two major motorsport events held there recent being the Bathurst 500 with the Australian version of the British Touring Car Championship with V8 muscle cars.
Another great video Lee. I'm so glad I discovered you a couple of months ago. I love your videos so much that I'm watching some of your older ones. 👍😄
Thanks for the video, what a 60's vibe hotel, that carpet could give me a headache !! 😊
Big bus. Sidney open top bus stops near ferry port to the left of it as you look at ferrys on corner of road traffic lights just ask info desk or locals
Looked like a super smooth take off roll, really enjoying this series Lee enjoy every minute and thanjs for sharing your travels with us
You can get a meal at the top of the centre point tower !! Nice food great views as it spins around slowly….. not cheap though but I think worth it 👍
I love that little bit at the start . who was the dude in the background on the other side of the streat . Your driver pionts to him and you
Burger King in Australia was already trademarked with a takeaway shop in Adelaide before American Burger King came to Oz, so they went with Hungry Jacks, that's one for the little guy against corporate America.....
