Just subscribed. Can Nexus r3 and r5 users use the same trigger set up as the rebel in order to get base ignition timing angle for first start on a new engine without having to set up a timing mark on the engine? Edit: (For LS Engines of Course)
A Rebel RB would be pretty sick! I'm looking forward to Getting an R3 and UC10 and making a loom for my Skyline late this year. And Haltec stickers, and merch, full fanboy mode!
Thanks heaps for this put my order in for my gen 4 rebel ls last week and while i knew it was going to be a walk in the park to set up i had no idea it was going to be this easy! 😅
Epic.. Another step closer to allowing the man maths to replace the 13b with a v8 beast.. Not quiet yet though.. But when I do rebel will be the way ls1 and a rebel it is. Tuning fork doing what he does best, knocks it out the park.. Thanks for sharing.. 😎
Was 97% sure i needed this for my 2nd c6 driff car. Now im 100%. Just gotta sort out what ignition to use as the push button is being deleted. Love my elite 2500 in my current c6 so anlther Haltech car will be amazing.
You guys grand slammed this system. My project not ready for ECU yet, but will be getting one. No wonder James Short is talking this up so much. Too easy
Damn, if this had been available when I was building my burnout truck, I would've gone with one of these over the Holley Terminator X it's now using. I have a Maserati V8 swapped Porsche that runs Haltech. Would've been nice to keep things in the same family.
I am so excited to upgrade my hptuners tuned stock ecu and homemade fuse box in my e46 drift car with the nexus rebel ls! I have had frequent tuning problems and am always adjusting the stock ecu. I know the rebel ecu is going to completely eliminate my issues!
Awesome. Definitely going to use in my Cressida. Can’t wait! Could you do a video on the alternator/starter motor wiring side of it? The main power wires and also trigger wiring for the starter.
I just got mine about 1.5 weeks ago and now I’m super excited to get it all buttoned up! My engine was a bit tricky so I wasn’t too sure which one to get but ultimately ended getting the gen 4 version. It’s a 07’ lq4 (out of an express van) with 24x so gen 3, but has dbw and not dbc.
Have haltec on my Acura when at the track. Had a guy pull out in front me in the street so it’s a lil banged up. Be cool if Haltec had a sniper style that would go on my old school sbc .
Right on time, in the progress of swapping. My concern is that the provided wire harnas isn't long enough as I planned to mount the ECU behind the passenger chair. Wish there was an option to get a longer harnas
I'm pretty sure if you contacted them they could make up a plug in extension to the length you need. Not sure how much extra it would be but at least it's all done by the same company and match exactly.
I am helping my brother with his 65 c10 project. I helped him rebuild a 6.0 iron block ls. It is a gen 3 engine but we put a gen 4 crank in it. So 58x. Can we change the setting in the ecu? Or do we need to run the engine as a gen 4? Never mind I just got to that part of the video! That is awesome!
Will there be an equivalent "rebel" ECU for other engines in the future? This would be a great thing for other popular engine swap candidates like the Barra, K series, RBs, etc......
Well that makes me sad and happy.... sad, because this would be a game changer for barra swaps. But happy because I already have the elite barra plug and play, so don't have to worry about wanting to replace it with the new rebel barra ecu....😂😂
@@haltech Should the possibility come up in the future, I would LOVE to see a 'Rebel Coyote' kit. They've really become popular swaps lately, quite a few drag cars running the Ford 5.0ls these days(and, thankfully, Ford put them in the F150 with minor changes, so they're more common than the previous 4-valve V8s were).
I’m seriously thinking of buying this. I just ordered long tube headers and my question is do you want to have 2 wide bands ? One on each side, for more accurate ecu programming. I believe the headers have a bung on each one…
I wish you could customize which breakouts it comes with when ordering, I have a gen 3 with multec injectors and drive by wire, so I’d need another $300ish in adapters 😢
i wonder if haltec would sponsor a good ol broke boy one to get that good ope country boy away from a carburetor all the way down in alabama. that guy im speakin about has a 87 scsb s10 5.3 sbe on a 300 shot currently , lets see how this goes boys 🤞
Will this lead into other Rebel products? RB, 1/2jz, Barra etc. Im already thinking about what I want to put an LS into now using this and a pd16 and keypad.
What is the estimated compression pressure ? Haltech put this terminology as an ignition load on hatech rebel LS. It goes up to 800ish psi. Can you explain that to me ? Is it a precise and accurate way to tune ignition map
Tried looking this up. See no mention of transmission control. If running a 4L60e, 4l80e, 6l80e…… automatic transmission, do you need a separate controller?
A big downside vs a Holley is that there is no Screen included or a budget one available . So you’re driving around and have no idea at what speed you’re going, what rpm the engine is at, what engine temp you’re at, oil pressure, afr, iat, closed loop % etc .
@@haltech Yes but you could take your laptop and have it displaying gauges as well, thats not the point. Holley includes a small display and when you see around 9 different sensors which you can see right infront of you its way different than having your phone out and connecting it each time you want to drive the car. Im not dissing the product, but this is a big turn away for many because the only other option to have a mounted display is another 1,100. Please consider making a 4-5” display which displays only data, doesn’t need to do inputs/outputs etc. would be perfect for the Rebel and for someone on a budget. With this said I ordered a Nexus R3 yesterday and soon ill order harnesses, keypads, rotary switches, and the display and get my Boosted/Nos Ws6 flying thru the traps …. atleast that’s the plan.
You should've definitely added what happens when the ignition key and throttle are wiggled and stomped at the wrong time and sequence of the start-up process, what happens then and how to recover from it. Your typical DIY LS swapper does not have the patience of Scott to follow the instructions that meticulously.
I dont understand the popularity with the LS engine platform. Is it simply because they are mass produced and cheap? As far as engine technology goes they are very behind.
That's the idea. It's a simple enough platform that the backyard mechanics can manage it. The newer engines are out of most non professionals know how.
You should see the people in the holley terminator x groups. The amount of people that get mad and trash talk an admittedly cheaply made (but extremely functional and user friendly) system because of something THEY did wrong, is fucking astonishing.

Man that looks so easy! Now all Mod Max needs is some boost!
I don't think it "needs" boost
A centrifugal supercharger would fit nicely - those things just seem to make for the loudest exhaust note for some reason😂

It doesn't get any easier than that. I think I'm going with Haltech on my C10 LS Swapped Build. The Aussie's are awesome 👌

@haltech does this have some sort of interface to connect to the cluster? Install looks super easy but nothing with the cluster was shown.
When are you coming out with a 4l80e transmission control with this system
We're aiming to have it out before the end of this year
Awesome!
I’m seriously thinking of buying this. I just ordered long tube headers and my question is do you want to have 2 wide bands ? One on each side, for more accurate ecu programming. I believe the headers have a bung on each one…
You can grab one of our WB2 kits separately and it hooks up to the Rebel via CAN ;)
This is just awesome!!!
Can you please do a video for programming inputs and outputs on the Rebel?
Are there provisions in the harness to run a MAF sensor?
Im keen on the Rebel LS guys but you have no transmission control for either 4L60/4L80 yet. Is that correct?
That is correct. 4L control is being worked on currently.
@@haltech Does this mean it will integrate with this current ECU or will there be a whole different ECU for the 4L?
It will integrate with the current box. So you could buy one now then add the 4L functionality later.

Can you run a modified 5.7 turbo charge engine using the rebel LS?
Does it work for an LSA?
Yep!
Is there anything like this for 4 cylinder motors? Just tell it the engine qualities and run the harness?
Any update on automatic transmission control?
We're aiming to have that out before the end of the year.
@@haltech Will this be able to control a 6L80E ?? About to start a conversion.
4L will be first, 6L is a different kind of animal.
Thanks for that, YEP!!! anyone know who does an ecu that talks to the GM ecu and the 6l80e??

Good choice for a turbo ls? Twin pumps, electric wp etc
Good question! You can contact our tech support team directly via www.haltech.com/contact-us

What is the go with putting a 6l80e behind my ls3 with this ecu and harness?
Sorry, we don't support 6L80 yet. 4L80 is no issue!
Any reason that the power supply connection is lugs instead of the surelok of the other Nexus products?
Is this Rebel ECU capable of doing C02 boost control with dual Mac valves? Thank you!
Scott! Is your head getting bigger, or is your body getting smaller? Joshing aside, thanks Haltech for the explainer.

How does OBDII work with this system?
it doesn't
Can i connect this to the factory 3 plugs harness on the drivers side in my vx ss so all my controls behind the steering wheel work?
So how would I go at using the built in map sensor on a turbo application using the rebel
When you select the MAP sensor in the wizard, one of the options is to use the internal MAP sensor.
@@Andy_the_engo I was hoping it was as simple as that. Thanks!
