It would require a hardware update to work with external video inputs. Currently, the inputs on the dash itself, only allow for CAN communication and a few analog inputs.
Really hope they finally update the MaxxECU firmware to 1.3. IC-7 still runs 1.2 which is from 4+ years ago. I'd hope, worst case updating to NSP will allow custom CAN inputs.
I got my ic7 dash, and haltech elite 1500 patch harness for my EG B18C2 build. Probably like two years ago, need to get off my ass and get my project done already. Always been keen on Heltech, got to support Australian products where you can.
As someone who is in the market for such a device i just don't understand why this product is better than its competitors? It's certainly not significantly less expensive than similar options. Other than working in the haltech ecosystem well what is so great about this product? I'm not being contrary. I'm asking a honest question.
Really love to hear about the ic7 software getting canned. It was so difficult to use that it was actually easier to unzip the config files and edit them in Vim than to configure anything through this software.
Yes I guess that was the downside to this plan, as why would you perfect that when you know it will be obsolete in a matter of time and could use those man hours on NSP instead. Long term win though for everyone - Taz.
@sashazxtt 0 seconds ago regarding OBD2 - it seems there is a fundamental limitation with the Haltech ECUs. If Haltech devices are connected to both main and AUX connectors, there is no way to enable the OBD2 functionality.
How can we convert or redirect the signal to the IC-7 screen and send it out to the 7" LED in my dual din? My car is a street car so I have a 2500T tandem wired with my factory ECU for compliance purposes. I also prefer the car look sleeper / normal and not give away what's quietly tucked away inside the wire looms. Yet I'd enjoy having an easily monitored output when actually at the track or when editing or tuning. I'd love it if we didn't need to buy an IC-7 to get the feed, but not trying to take money out of Haltech's pockets as they are hitting the US market harder lately (glad to see it!) and I wouldn't mind just cracking one apart to send the feed off to my stereo head unit 7" screen instead.
Will this transfer data from an oem Ecu from the obd port to a haltech ecu ? Some of us are considering using a r3 or 2500 for boost control and safeties ontop of an oe ecu for emissions purposes and trans control
Yes, but that's not necessarily plug and play as every OEM is different. Tapping into the stock sensors you have on your road turned race car via CAN is a smart and cost effective thing to do though for sure 😎 - Taz.

The most important question is while the dash cost $$$ remain the same once the firmware is released or will it have updated pricing to reflect the added features?
I wouldn't be supersized. Demand for them will go up, so the ones on the street will get snatched up at lower prices from people who don't know yet. Could eventually effect supply and make the prices go up.
Wow. I have no idea why anyone would want to use electronics other than Haltech. Always coming through for the people! They could have easily just designed a new dash and called it the IC8 and made you switch to get the new features. But nope! For the people!
CAN is one of the most basic and easy automotive protocols. It's been around for over 40 years and is obsolete now, too slow for any reasonable data rate and even borderline for real-time signals. Get into the game and at least put CAN-FD on that and give your customers something not ancient. 😒
Thats great! I just updated my Elite 2500 to NSP and now I'm looking at my old Racepak dash and it's looking a bit old. It has logging and GPS feature but I never use either. Thanks @hpa101 @haltech and Scott from Haltech :)

Congratulations Scott and the Haltech teams, been quietly following you for years. Great new developments, keep up the great work.
This is awesome news. I have been wanting to log the inputs on the dash onto the ECU. Thx @Haltech
Always Haltech Ahead, congratulations, very happy with keeping product improving all the time!!!
So the dash I ordered yesterday will already be updated? 17/06/2024.
Hey Scotty on HPA, awesome!
If possible, it would be incredible to be able to have a reverse camera that integrates seamlessly with the ecu and display dash.
It would require a hardware update to work with external video inputs. Currently, the inputs on the dash itself, only allow for CAN communication and a few analog inputs.
Haltech consistently justifies my investments in their products. Thanks for being awesome, guys and gals!
This is exciting, been wanting a update for the display!
I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed with the ICC software and its functionality when I bought into it so this is very welcome news!
