Very solid product well thought out product and backed by proper support. Love that my elite ECU still gets updates and new features. Nexus is a no brainer for a new build
I'm so glad i waited buying the 2500. This is amazing. Now i can ditch my 32 year old fusebox in my corrado and make a full haltech wiringloom. Amazing
I'd have gone a Haltech Nexus R5 w/ IC-7 if it was out at the time when that portion of my build was under way. Currently running an AIM PDM32 w/ 10" screen connected to a GM E38; for anyone wondering. I'm not happy with the support from AIM, also the cross the fingers approach they take on PDM firmware releases for new AIM products they really want to make some money on. The PDM or VCM is the (very expensive) heart of the car, it's no joke to turn people's pride and joy into a brick. Thanks for the new products Scotty & Haltech.

Totally! You'd just buy an R3 in case you wanna delete the fuse box later! Not to mention the free built-in extra features like the wideband controller!
@Bigbot Hoee Ill be okay for this initial build, But it definitely has the brain thinking about it for the 2.0 version, When that comes round Ill see what haltech is upto then.
Haltec marketing team is a beast by far every other control unit brand does not have the support haltech have The little vids like this made me buy one lolololol
I’d love to see you guys do a stand-alone, affordable PDM unit to allow for use with vehicles where they don’t need a full ecu system. The existing ones on the market are very expensive.
got mine yesterday looks like such solid military hardware - is it billet the case? anyway it looks totally sick cant wait to get it fitted, more importantly !! the Haltech UK service was incredible from Luke and Mark even tho I messed around they always helped and remain patient. There is no other brand to buy from in my opinion.
Looks like the one to get for my LS swap I am doing. The only thing I would have liked is if the built in wideband controller could do both banks. But the pricing makes It a no brainer vs the elite 2500
Gosh, I wish this ECU (solution?) was around a couple of years ago... It's still somewhat out of my "feeling comfortable" price range, but it would have saved me a boat-load of work with wiring and what have you. Perhaps on my next build...
Super excited about this, only thing that would be nice is a internal 5 or 7 bar map sensor for all us drag folks running more than 45 psi, but perhaps that's not possible in the architecture
A plug and play harness for the LS would be a dream. I'm so close to pulling the pin on something like the 2500, or, the fancy new R3, but it is the wiring that scares the bejebus out of me. The only wiring that I am comfortable with is hooking up battery terminals. In saying this I would be dropping of the car to my local tuner and saying "how much to make go"
I'm probably buying one, but I have some questions about hardware, what are the hardware differences between Nexus series and Elite series, for example, processor speed or cores. is it quicker on the nexus series ? it can support DSG gearboxes if I want to install one ? Asking because I could install something like that in future thanks! I love haltech!
Will you guys be releasing anything compatible with the 2015-2021 WRX (FA20DIT). I heard the direct injection is the issue? If not I might buy an ej 207 or 205 to be able to run your hardware and software.
I just got this as a suggested video and I miss a short intro on what this box really do since this video went in like an aerial drop in uncharted territory.
Hey Scott. I have an R33 skyline and I want to completely redo all wiring and have the haltech drive indicators, headlights, aircon compressor etc. Would you say the Nexus R3 has enough IO or if I want to be doing all of that I should go for the R5?
I’m curious about the price of the R3 rebel racing no prep and also have a small budget everything is so expensive today like the Holley just keeps raising prices where a lot people can’t afford the product I’m hoping this product is cheaper by alot

possibly a stupid question, but does this power up things like indicators and wind screen wipers? building an LS powered metro van and it has no wiring at all. Need to start from scratch. also is there a harness for the LS that plugs straight into it. Cheers
This is a good place to start: th-cam.com/video/0V01RpBg8Vc/w-d-xo.html You basically wire all your electrical components the same you would with a Power Distribution Module. We don't have an LS terminated harness for the R3 at this stage, we do have LS specific kits with the Elite 2500.
I have an Elite 2500 and would have got this if it was out when I was doing my build... I had to get a whole custom harness for my car because there was no PnP.... should I just go R5...? I don't really need it though ... sigh... decisions
Why use an internal boost sensor? Maybe it's my inexperience, but it seems like most people would run a remote sensor to measure their boost to fit their application, as well as have a replaceable piece if there is a failure.
You can still use an external MAP sensor for engine boost and then use the onboard sensor as an ambient pressure reference so the ECU will compensate for altitude changes.
The Nexus R3 is a different product to the Elite 2500, so it's not meant as its replacement. If you're using an existing fuse/relay wiring and you don't plan on replacing it with a PDM-based system then the Elite is still a better option. Likewise if you're using a factory harness and want a Plug'n'Play solution - the Elite series offer a big range of PnP support - including the JZX100 (see link below). On the other hand, if you're re-wiring your car or building a race car from scratch, then we would highly recommend the R3. www.haltech.com/product/ht-151354-elite-2500-toyota-chaser-jzx100-1jz-gte/
@@haltech Thanks very much for the reply - tough decision, which i will have to make with my builder. im leaning towards the r3, purely as i want to simplify and consolidate the car and simplify everything as i go. might be easier said that done and ultimately budget decision.
I was wondering, because it supports up to 8 x injectors, what is my option if I want to run 12 x injectors (6 x primary and 6 x secondary) for running nitrous on my 2JZ build. Would this R3 still be suitable? Or is there a way around this issue to be able to control additional injectors?
With the R3 you would need to do it in batches - ie two groups of 3 injectors, but we would probably recommend going up to the R5 where you can run both stages sequentially. Best thing to do is to contact our Tech Support either via phone or via email (support@haltech.com). One of our tech guys will be able to go through the settings and recommend the right ECU for your application.
Hi there I have a jk wrangler with a 6.4 hemi conversion and I really want to redo all the wiring and I think this will be a great thing for it. But can it handle the 16 spark plugs?
For that application we would recommend going up to the Nexus R5, which can control 16 ignition and 16 injection outputs. It's a good idea to have a chat with one of our tech support guys before hand, they'll be able to discuss your setup in detail and give you the option for the ECU choice for your build.
It doesn't need one, but some people prefer to use an external MAP sensor. So we give them that option. They may want to run more boost than 4 bar, for example.
I really want to understand the product person who thought this up or came up with pricing. I thought maybe you might compete with Holley's success with the Terminator X and Terminator X Max, but then you priced it like a Dominator with fewer IO, so I can't tell who you're going after. I was _really_ hoping to use this on a Drag & Drive Coyote, but I'm struggling to make it make sense.
Terminator x is the price it is because it’s cheap and made for every Tom dick and Harry. It feels like a toy, is basic, has no advance features, and they fail often
Neither Terminator nor Dominator are really comparable to the Nexus units. The main difference being the in-built PDM in both the R5 and the R3. So when comparing them to the Holley products you really need to look at ALL the specs to get the full picture. Both the R5 and the R3 are an excellent option for the drag and drive applications, not just because of the features they offer, like wi-fi comms for example, but mainly because of the ease of diagnostics and troubleshooting that comes with using a single unit controlling the entire vehicle from the engine to power distribution, all within one software. We would highly recommend you have a close look at a car that runs a Nexus R5 to see how the system works. It's not for everyone, but those who have it, love it:)
