  • Payal Khurana is here now. Are you?
The founder of a brave co-working space in Gainesville, FL, shares her story on letting go of attachment to the outcome and teaches us how we can do it, too.
After eight years working in the corporate world, Payal Khurana realized something was missing and returned to Gainesville where she co-founded Starter Space, a startup incubator and co-working space, as well as her own startup, Find Mindfulness.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Tell her I said "thank you". She didn't change my life, but she surely supported it.

wow. Thank you for the reminder! I love that she shared this with the masses. We get so caught up in rejecting the present, moving towards the future and away from the past, that we lose sight of the beauty in the now. There is so much right now in this moment that is beautiful.

We really need a reminder like this from time to time. It's always waiting and worrying for the future. We need to breathe in the present and somehow make the most of it.

Selling "Old Wine in new bottle".
5000 years ago it was written in Geeta,
In sanskrit: Karmanyev Adhikaraste, Ma faleshu Kadachana.
In English: (Literal translation word by word) On your duty only, you have right. Not on the fruits of it ever.
    Meaning --
Never, for the desire for fruit should you perform.

I actually went on a 3 night meditation retreat. My first time. it was wonderful, and I learned a lot about myself.
I love how you say that letting go of outcome leaves you open to infinite possibilities. I try to remember that as I keep working at the very early stages of my blog....

EarthMama365 wow that's amazing! So wonderful that you gave yourself that opportunity to look within.
There are infinite possibilities - our consciousness tends to focus on one versus all of the many many possibilities. Look forward to hearing how blog goes!

Mindfulness is a poor translation of the Pali word “Sati”. The correct translation of that word is memory.
So sati should be translated as “remembering to be aware of the object of your attention every moment”.
Those who train regularly will know how that memory becomes ever present and helps you learn what it is your mind is doing thinking about at all times.

Beautiful message. This is the essence of bhagvad Gita + vipassana +Zen in one Ted talk. Usually I start my trainings with a Tibetan singing bowl which really helps to get people centered and later in the training i take them on a mindfulness exercise. This glimpse into the present moment helps people to practically experience the power of now. My prayers for you and everyone watching that every day we come closer to finding our inner-selves.

Hi Gurubharan! I love that you start your trainings with singing bowl. They are so centering!

    • @gbharan265
      @gbharan265 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Payal Khurana I was watching your talk again and if am not mistaken your actual message is not to let go of outcomes but rather to let go of the "attachment" towards outcomes. We evolve by continuously dropping lower order outcomes for higher order outcomes (for example (a teacher who is undergoing spiritual evolution could have started by thinking their outcome is kids getting good grades , then they evolve it to kids should realize their true human potential) So outcomes evolve continuously from lower to higher basis our own spiritual evolution. Outcomes also provide us a means to design and shape behavior. However one needs to be careful to develop a sense of detachment towards the outcome.

The art of self decption - "you are enough", I don't think so. It is more accurate to just say that "you are" and it can become a better version... A moment is not perfect or not perfect, or yellow or weighs 5kg. The concept of a perfect moment being in the "now" implies a centre that experiences that perfect moment. But the arrival of a centre will resist the arrival of the awareness of the moment.

What the ? You can still want something to happen, the point is to let go of the outcome completely, so that you won't stress out and fully focus on the present and actually be more effective.
