Yeh I agree these older ferraris have so much style and character and there is a passion about them , the new ones look terrible have no character and are just another brand of exotic car . Been a ferrari fan my whole life but I genuinely don't like any current ferrari
I was very fortunate to have Italian racing driver Marco Polani take me to 270km/h on the Italian autostrade in one of these back in 1995. Try as it might, this video does no justice to the sweet sound of that motor! One of the best days of my life! 😍
Just luck. A guy I met while I was backpacking in Europe worked with another guy at the time who was a top ranked snowboarder in Italy. He & Marco were friends through snowboarding. Because I was a Ferrari nut, the guy I met asked the guy he worked with to ask Marco if he could give me a ride in a Ferrari. And Marco was only too happy to provide a 45 minute joy ride 😁
As soon as saw the old beast sliding out of the hairpin, I hit the like button. Then I saw it was Jethro, and I thought: I’m not surprised! 😅 Mega car, mega journo!
I am happy to have since 10 years, the only one in world F512GTB. F355 body with 512tr engine/transmission from 1997 and rebuilt 1999 in Düsseldorf/Germany with permission from Ferrari. The last built 512. New body with old classic 512tr engine. The best combination with 475 horsepower. 203 cm wide, Challenge carbon wing and Imola carbon spoiler, Tubi style exhaust and BMC airboxes Sound
Quite often I'm a fan of the original model but for me the 512TR is THE Testarossa to have. The updated front grill and removing the old black skirts and bumper trim really bring the whole design together. Add a little performance increase and it's just perfection. The 512M on the other hand was a few steps too far, trying to squeeze too much out of an already perfected car.
Great video for a great car! You definitely did it justice! Don’t underestimate and assume the first generation TR isn’t as fantastic of experience as that one. Having one and living in the best alpine environment, gen 1 is just as satisfying and rewarding. But everything you said applies too! Very well articulated! As we would expect from you! 😉
Come on Jethro let is fly like Dario used to on the backroads of Maranello. Jokes aside you are correct regarding the chassis and Dario and Co. are not even human. Lovely video I want the car!
Very… very well presented. The finest of the Icons from that beloved TR Family and Era … no- it does not get better than that from that pedigree on 4 wheels… a well deserved Icon. Bar none!
Testarossas were undervalued in 2007 when they were $60,000.... then around 2012 (I think it was?) they jumped to $250,000... now they exceed $300,000. In that same time period the 288 GTO went from $700,000 to 3 million+.
The TR has a better chassis, engine, suspension and interior comfort but the original body design (once the side mirror were fixed in 1985 after Ferrari's misunderstanding of the regulation) is a lot better, including the wheels. Ah the original wheel with the center nut. I'll never forget being driven around the French Riviera for 1 hour in a Testarossa in 1988. All eyes outside looking at it. Its German owner used to drive from Germany down to the Riviera starting in the late evening and driving all night long on almost empty motorways arriving just before dawn.
I wanted the TR also, I had pictures of it on my wall & laptop. By the time that I was ready to buy one, it had gone up in value and I couldn't quite make it happen. I wound up with a beautiful 2006 F430. I love it !
Great Video! But this car is not a V12, it is a Flat 12, meaning the pistons are horizontal. At his level, I would expect the information about the car he is driving to be accurate.
In car mic for speech is not good. Enjoyed the video. Cheers. Ps i still remember going out in a testarossa as a teenager. The sound of the engine was immense.

You said it. Its a big boy car. I have driven this car in Forza Horizon virtually, and I understand if you don't let off the throttle at the right time through the curve in the road, you will end up off the road very quickly!
Why don't you upgrade. This is an older design. Get smart and put, well, a Sonny's 1000 Big Block in that thing. You need American Power in there. Like 2500+ on spray....

My sentiment exactly.
Love the 512TR, my favorite of the Testarossa series
The 512TR is one of the best looking modern Ferraris
Couldn't agree more!
Sadly it’s considered a classic car now. More accurately a retro.
I prefer this F512 TR, design wise to any modern Ferarris, not to mention that heavenly sounding engine
🙌🙌🙌

I’d say that the 512TR is my second favourite Fezza after the F40, it just looks so good!
Great looking vehicles all around!
I would love to see Jethro have a try in a proper F355 with headers and exhaust. Magical stuff
Absolutely! The 512 and 355 are two of the best sounding cars ever made. the 355 might actually be number 1.

A fantastic and respectfull presentation of this wonderfull car, the Ferrari 512 TR! Thank you! Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent fun write up on my joint favourite Ferrari ( with the 288 GTO)..👌
Really stylish old car .The improved version of first Testarossa, much better than that. Perfect.
Stunning classic car. Amazing engine noise. Great review.
It hurts so good to watch that car in action.

Indeed it is!
The glory days certainly hung in there.
I’ve never seen a Testarossa go sideways.

1:54 drives by Decker canyon, one of the best driving roads in So Cal. Edit - may have been Decker later in the video. Great driving footage.

A tip, set the camera on the instrument cluster then take off from zero in 5th gear, from 0 to 200mph in one gear its fun.
Goose bumps when thru the tunnel at the end!!❤
WOW brilliant test drive, how have I never seen one of your videos before, subscribed?
Are you calling F1 pilot Jean Alesi a « test driver »? 😅
I got a list of cars i hope to buy one day. The list changes every time but the 512 TR is always on the list.

Horizon is not even close to a simulator. Generally lifting in corners will get you into a lot of trouble versus keeping the power down
