1994 Ferrari 512TR (Testarossa) Classic Car Drive and Review

- The Ferrari 512TR belongs to the legendary Testarossa line up which as we all know owned the 80's. Everybody would have heard of the hit TV show Miami Vice where Don Johnson drifts around Miami in a beautiful white Testarossa. The 512TR is the second iteration of the line-up, still retaining the 5 litre flat 12 engine but with various upgrades including a new transmission system, new intake system, new exhaust system, and a brand new Bosch engine management system. As a result, the 512TR produced 430HP over the original Testarossa's 390HP. Regardless, we can all agree that the Testarossa's design is so dramatic and stunning that it doesn't matter whether you see one back in 1984 or today, they are still legitimate showstoppers.

I'm glad you got to drive the car I have a Testarossa, TR, F40, F50. I'm 911 so I just traded in my 2017 911 Turbo S for a yellow turbi 2021. I have a few others like a 2018 Subaru Blue STI, 1985 1/2 red Mustang SVO and I also have about 4 personal every day drivers as well.I have a 1979 red grey market 911SC that's faster than the turbu because it has no emissions and that added 66hp on the Dino and a few other minor things I did gave it a total of 100hp that's all I did as I want to keep it stock. There is not many gray market 1979 911 SC 4 speed in the US.

Couldn't agree more, my favorite Ferrari produced. The looks are outstanding. One thing I never noticed was the door lock inside. Looks like it may impede if you want to roll the window down and use it as an arm rest. But that sound of the flat 12 😃.

I wonder why Ferrari did not just put an access panel to the engine, behind the luggage shelf on the inside of the car (like they did with the 360 Modena)? Had they done that, a cam belt service would have been ridiculously easy, with no engine removal necessary.

The BB-512 was not sold in the US market.
The Testarosa was developed specifically to target the US market.
That’s why the BB-512 was discontinued.
Happily today there are some BB-512’s here in the US.
The 512 TR is my favorite version, and the 512m wheels are my favorites also.
Great car, but some of the info he gave, I think is wrong. He said the side vents were for cooling, but it actually had to do with certain regulations from the USA. They didn't want any vents on this car originally and it might even look better without them. He also said the larger 18 inch wheels would hug the road better, making a wheel larger in circumference doesn't help with grip lol, only the width will do that. But I do like the 512TR, it's the best Testarossa IMO
Good videos of Lamborghini Murcialago,and Ferrari Testarossa.I don’t know how much opportunity you get to explore both cars performance limits on Hong Kong roads,but it would have been good to see both cars from the outside,driving around,swooping in and out of corners,and accelerating up to speed.And maintaining a high speed.Seeing both cars driving at high speed, and maintaining high speed is what it’s all about isn’t it,that’s what they were designed for.So why not let us see what they look like from the outside on the road, and or track demonstrating the exceptional performance, and abilities they are capable of.

It’s crazy to me how small the Testarossa, 512TR is compared to modern Ferraris like the 488 which is considered small by today’s standards. Like stated in the video, the Testarossa was insanely wide for it’s time and was considered a big GT car when compared to other cars of it’s day. Now it’s smaller than Ferrari’s smallest car offered today. It’s not until you see a Testarossa or 512TR sitting next to a modern Ferrari that you truly realize just how small it really is or how much cars have grown over the years.

@@instacarhk5963 definitely. Even cars considered to be small by today’s standards are big. I saw a Porsche 914 parked next to a 981 Boxster and the Boxster was huge compared with the 914. Unfortunately safety regulations today are largely responsible for the increased size of our vehicles today.
