I love the fact that you returned the big cray, I'm thinking that your conservation minded in how you harvest from the sea, you harvest what you need, truly a blessing....safe dives & God Bless!
Good stuff Kerry, not a sight you get to see too often. Great to see good practice around leaving the larger males. Can be hard to resist at times but the smaller generally taste better anyway and the big boys keep the population healthy.
it's great to see cray in those numbers. Way to throw that buck back to keep the cray population going for the next generation. Wishing you and your whanau the best. Cheers!!🤙
Wow memories. Used to spend my spare time in the water summer or winter any time the water was right to free dive, to explore or kai for someone's tangi. Haven't been diving since moving away from the East Coast. Thanks for sharing, your rocks pretty much looked like where I Leart to dive. late 70' early 90's.
Ben Timmermans here. beautiful west coast.Turning it on for you .Nice comments from your followers'reminds me of the manukau harbour marine life very similar awsome vid bro keep it up
Home sweet home, I really enjoyed this video as covid hasn’t allowed me to travel home as often as i usually do. So thank you for taking me on around home good to see that the kaimoana is still plentiful and the spots are still nice and healthy.
Your the man bro! I've been teaching my sons out there for there first winter experience! They got to experience there first nest was epic! Teach them the right way take a Kai not the population 😁😁 Love your videos bro FFN 🤙🏾
That's awesome! There is nothing like getting out there with you children, my daughter who is in this video used to come diving with me sometimes and it was great! Cheers!!!
Yep went around there on Friday avo to try to gather for a tangi but it was just too dirty and I lost the light before I could get onto them....Cheers!!!
Cheers mate! I really felt that that was the right thing to do for the health of the fishery and as I wasn't gathering for an event I didn't need to take the biggest ones!!!
Bro Very special indeed as always impressed with your respect for nature and life bro you are very deserving 🙏 i would say less but i dont think giving it a like is enough 💯 I even watched the video of you showing harlem how to monetize his youtube thing . You the man bro 💯
Yeah you would have definitely had no regrets if you had got that Puka you were hunting! Never mind one day we will get together for a dive out there and it will be EPIC! Cheers!!!
Love Ahipara haven't been up the back there before though. Truck was to flash to take up there and the wife wasn't going to let me anyway lol. Mint dive Kerry keep it up bro.
Absolutely LOVE seeing you leave those big protector/ Feeder buck crays 👌😎 huge respect to you brother..an absolutely EPIC dive indeed... The darker the kina tongue the sweeter the taste 😋
Yeah there were probably a fair few legal paua there but I didn't have a paua knife so was only going for the easy ones to knock off with my hands....Cheers brother!!!
Awesome video bro. Ive just subscribed and cant wait to watch more vids of your epic adventures also make a cooking video bro would love to see what you do with does crays and paua. Mauri ora cheers bro.
Good to hear them called by their proper name and not lobster. Crays in numbers like this are often seen in Torres Strait of Australia as well. Sometimes they often cover an entire bommie.
Yes, from time to time you do see some good sharks, most of the time they are just Bronze Whalers, and they are more interested in the fish that you have than you, we only really have to worry about Great Whites and they are not common at all...Cheers!!!
Ha ha I just love them steamed and then split open still warm! Yeah there is likely going to be a bit more cooking in the vids to come - watch this space! Cheers!!!
Beautiful and amazing educational videos brother. I wish the idiots where I am from did the same thing. I'll show them this video so they learn something good on not to take the females
Yes I do but the vast majority of sharks in NZ will only want to eat the fish you have and do not see you as food, the only ones that I worry about are great whites and I have only seen one in all the years I have been diving! Cheers!!!
Another mean video Kerry, even better you letting the big crey go, still don't know why people want to take the big ones, maybe for a photo, or make as a trophy, they're not that tasty, same as for snapper....keep up the mean work bro, hope you get visa sorted soon and get to flt to the States.
I love the fact that you returned the big cray, I'm thinking that your conservation minded in how you harvest from the sea, you harvest what you need, truly a blessing....safe dives & God Bless!
Cheers mate! Yeah we want to be able to go out and harvest a feed for generations to come aye!!!
Good stuff Kerry, not a sight you get to see too often. Great to see good practice around leaving the larger males. Can be hard to resist at times but the smaller generally taste better anyway and the big boys keep the population healthy.
Yep from what I understand its the big males that can fight off the predators and they help to protect the smaller crayfish in the group...Cheers!!!
it's great to see cray in those numbers. Way to throw that buck back to keep the cray population going for the next generation. Wishing you and your whanau the best. Cheers!!🤙
Oh cheers mate! Same to you and your whanau!!!

Home sweet home, I really enjoyed this video as covid hasn’t allowed me to travel home as often as i usually do. So thank you for taking me on around home good to see that the kaimoana is still plentiful and the spots are still nice and healthy.

Absolutely LOVE seeing you leave those big protector/ Feeder buck crays 👌😎 huge respect to you brother..an absolutely EPIC dive indeed... The darker the kina tongue the sweeter the taste 😋

It sure is! The crayfish are not in there all the time, but it is an excellent place for them...Cheers!!!
What a spot. How's living in the states working out?
I have not made it there yet, have had a hold up on the visa and I am still waiting to hear if I will even get a visa! Cheers!!!
Another great vid. Would love to come out with you sometime
Maybe someday! Cheers!!!
Hey bro from far north, any tips for knowing when its good to dive? I check swellmap but not too accurate
Try windy.com...Cheers!!!
Hey please delete the location name... just protection from the one's that get in there and strip everything and no respect 💚🙏
awesome vid! Hope you're visa process is ticking along nicely?
It's a waiting game and I have not heard anything yet...Cheers!!!
Kina with pasta olive oil and coriander garlic so good.
Mmmm sounds good but personally I'd skip the coriander lol, Cheers!!!
Hey bro where abouts in west coast be keen to dive for some for my first dive ?
Cheers bro awesome vid
Northlands west coast is as much as I can tell you lol! Cheers!!!
Aweso.e❤
mean vidz bro Love it. what kind of go pro do you use?
I use a hero 7 black for my dive camera and a hero 9 black plus my samsung s21 phone for the above water stuff...Cheers!!!
Amazing dive brother
Yeah there were probably a fair few legal paua there but I didn't have a paua knife so was only going for the easy ones to knock off with my hands....Cheers brother!!!
@@KerryFlowers 👌😀

There is going to be more cooking coming for sure! Cheers!!!
Hey Kerry great vid! How is the drive around there is it pretty hectic?
You need 4wd that is good in soft sand but apart from that it is not a tricky track...Cheers!!!
@@KerryFlowers cheers Kerry always wanted to have an explore around there guess the old pajero will make it no probs!
Where is this,it's beautiful
Northland, New Zealand. Cheers!!!
Do they come out more at night?
Yeah they tend to move around at night. Cheers!!!
Good to hear them called by their proper name and not lobster. Crays in numbers like this are often seen in Torres Strait of Australia as well. Sometimes they often cover an entire bommie.
Yeah I have seen video of th like that down south in New Zealand, hopefully will see them like that up north some day...Cheers!!!
I wish I was as fast as you
I've had a lot of practice, keep at it and you will get quicker! Cheers!!!
Mean bro👆👆👆👆
Cheers!!!
Every see big sharks out there?
Yes, from time to time you do see some good sharks, most of the time they are just Bronze Whalers, and they are more interested in the fish that you have than you, we only really have to worry about Great Whites and they are not common at all...Cheers!!!
Did you use boat?
No just a shore dive on this one...Cheers!!!
Hey mate where is this in NZ?
Northlands west coast. Cheers!!!
@@KerryFlowers Where Exactly at the west coast ?
what's your preferred way to eat Koura? Perhaps you could wang out some chef vids haha you could call them Cooking With Kerry
Ha ha I just love them steamed and then split open still warm! Yeah there is likely going to be a bit more cooking in the vids to come - watch this space! Cheers!!!
Oh I miss home😂
Yeah sorry Bout that lol! Cheers!!!
Churrrr mean lil spot for a kai bro... not the just gunna get a feed an OMG yeap the boys are on too meke brother
Ha ha yeah I was only after a feed but when I saw how many crays were there it was might as well take a few for the whanau as well! Cheers!!!
Swap u a GPS mark for the cray mark!
If only I had a gps to mark it lol! Cheers!!!
Eat em bro...yummy
So good alright! Cheers!!!
Stocked
Yeah loaded as! Cheers!!!
Must be NZ! Nowhere else is so quiet, has such bad roads and lets you drive on the Beaches.......
PS. Crayfish are the most under-rated of all the large Shell-Fish, delicious and easy to cook!
PPS. It's great to see so many Paua! I saw a documentary a few years ago about how they were being over-fished to the point of endangered species!
Yep NZ is a fantastic place alright! Cheers!!!
Beautiful and amazing educational videos brother. I wish the idiots where I am from did the same thing. I'll show them this video so they learn something good on not to take the females
A female crayfish will only breed with a male that is larger than her so we need to make sure to leave the big ones...Cheers!!!
Trust that spot's logged into the GPS!
No I don't carry one for dive spots but I know roughly where it is and I will likely be able to find it again if need be! Cheers!!!
@@KerryFlowers Good enough! Thanks for all of your posts!
All congregated up to group spaen when the moon was right. Should have left them alone mate
Unbelievable!
Good to see aye! Cheers!!!
Don't you think about sharks. Would love to do this, but would be paranoid.
Yes I do but the vast majority of sharks in NZ will only want to eat the fish you have and do not see you as food, the only ones that I worry about are great whites and I have only seen one in all the years I have been diving! Cheers!!!
I hope you keep the location to yourself mate otherwise it will get pillaged..
Crayfish move around a lot so chances are they will be long gone before someone else gets there...Cheers!!!
Good on you cuzz for leaving that big boy, hes a breeder and hopefully hes passing on his genes right now 😂🤙
I hope so too, he was a big boy! Cheers!!!
Another mean video Kerry, even better you letting the big crey go, still don't know why people want to take the big ones, maybe for a photo, or make as a trophy, they're not that tasty, same as for snapper....keep up the mean work bro, hope you get visa sorted soon and get to flt to the States.
Yeah those middle sized ones are perfect for eating but I do love a massive snapper head split and smoked! Cheers mate!!!
I thought crayfish were supposed to be freshwater only ones in salt water are lobsters
In New Zealand we call lobster crayfish. Cheers!!!
Kerry this is NOT crayfish this is lobster
Kiwis call lobster crayfish...Cheers!!!
Call the thing what it is don’t miss inform people.
@@devonfrancis5921 When in Rome, or NZ/Aot Cray's Koura, Crayfish
Great to see divers not into rape and pillage, the big boys are the breeders.
Yeah we have to have some restraint if we want to be able to keep getting a feed from the ocean in the future! Cheers!!!
I can’t watch anymore too hungry ……
