    I really enjoy these short clips with Dr. Hyman. I find it challenging to watch lengthy videos or podcasts because of my limited time, and energy. It is tiring sometimes to take in so much information at once. I do appreciate tips as to how to incorporate these changes. I do appreciate Dr. Hyman's commitment to help people become healthier, stronger and more informed.

      @@kerryjean2223 We can all do that but Dr. Hyman is not the only one I follow. I have different interests and people I like but the popular trend is lengthy podcasts sometimes up to 3 hours and they appear weekly. I don't often listen to the entire podcast or video unless it is important. My limit is 1 hour. Thank you for the suggestion.

      The worst trend I have seen lately is everyone doing "live" videos. The 10 to 15 minutes of useful information gets scattered throughout a 1 to 2 hour video. Real waste of time. I refuse to watch most of them, hoping that fad will fizzle out soon.

    Dr Hyman doesnt know this but watching his vids for, I think 3 years now, I wouldn't have found out about Armour for hypothyroidism.
    He saved my life! I couldnt get out bed and here in Cleveland Ohio the Cleveland Clinic told me they couldnt give me anything but a synthroid, Levothyroxine which did not work for me at all. They turned me away. I went to Tenpenny here in Middleburg Heights were Im from and this practice is Functional Medicine. I recieved the propper blood work of THS T4 T3 and T2 and was placed on Armour that week. Thank god I found him and his podcasts and take notes and study from all his knowledge. He taught me to save myself from PCPs that dont do their job. Most cases they say " well thr fda doesnt approve tht med so i cant give tht to you." Or a pharmaceutical company owns the hospital system. Watch Dr Hyman to fix your bodies ailments!

    California almonds are one of the most heavily sprayed crops with glyphosate so I would avoid them.

      I live in Europe and I avoid all American products, I’m just too scared to consume them. EU has stricter laws on pesticides and chemicals, however the lobby is still very strong from chemical companies. Banning glyphosate in the EU has been on the agenda of the Comission for a few years now at the pressure of environmentalists and citizens. Its use has been approved until December 2023 while once the scientific evaluation has been completed. That being said, buy European almonds. Italians and Greeks respect agriculture and people and their almonds are much healthier.

    The issue with majority of us is leaky gut , with these gut issues we are unable to fully breakdown or extract the nutrients. So fixed your gut first! Look into healthy bile flow.

    Big fan, thanks for this video. Contemporary research, however, shows that you can get all the essential amino acids and protein quantity needed from a purely plant based diet. From the National Institutes of Health 2019, "The claim that certain plant foods are “missing” specific amino acids is demonstrably false. All plant foods contain all 20 amino acids, including the 9 indispensable amino acids."

    I'd love it if you would input a day of vegan eating into Cronometer and show us how you can't get enough protein with all of the essential amino acids in it, in particular the leucine and branch chain amino acids that you refer to. When I enter in a day of whole food, plant based eating, I get 200% - 400%+ of those amino acids.

      @@inca3370 Hi. I eat nuts, seeds, beans, fruit, a lot of vegetables and some whole grains. I take B12 and make sure I get some iodine in the form of seaweed (you can get sprinkles) or take an iodine supplement - making sure it's the recommended daily allowance.
      If you google how much protein you're supposed to eat in a day for your ideal body weight, you can enter in a day's worth of food into an APP called Cronometer.
      Google what 'branch chain amino acids' are, the amino acids that Dr. Hyman says are difficult to get on a plant based diet, and you can see on chronometer if you are meeting your daily goal.
      It's actually challenging to not eat too MUCH protein, if you're really trying to be careful about it. Protein is in everything. If you eat a large variety of foods, you can get all of the amino acids that you need.
      Look up 'essential amino acids' and make sure that you have all of them displaying in Chronometer. You can adjust what you see in the APP's settings.

    I do all of these things but I do eat some dairy products from grass-fed cows. I have some cheese and yogurt, full fat, no added sugar and I use heavy cream in my coffee each day, about an ounce. I think I'm doing well but based on what he says now I have to cut out the dairy and I don't know if I can do that. I don't eat any processed foods, I don't eat white flour or white sugar, nothing out of packages but we do have some dairy. Not every day and not a lot but we do have some.

    I liked how you describe sugar treats as a recreational drug. I want to say a bit more: that if you get too restrictive, especially early on, you can't maintain it. It's more important to feel yourself into what you can maintain longterm (we are talking about healthy ageing here, yes?). I like the 80/20 principle; and I saw someone today on 85/15 (Hugh Jackman?). The point is to enjoy the treats and not just decide to suffer - which would be another fast track to an early demise.

      watch the glucose goddess diet. I am amazed how well I can stick to my plan now that I don't have those glucose spikes she talks about. That being said, being really restrictive was too hard so now I'm more Pegan than vegan after going through a vegetarian phase.

    Low glycemic index is no longer used to describe carbohydrate quality or is it a good tool for evaluating glucose response. Studies from Berry 2020 Nature Medicine, Korem 2017 Cell Metabolism found a wide intra-individual and inter-individual variation in glucose response. What mattered? Everything! Habitual diet, sex, age, current insulin sensitivity status, microbiome, exercise, environment. In addition, Atkinson 2021 Am J Clinical Nutrition found that glycemic index differed drastically within the same food. For example, variety, growing and processing conditions, geographic location, and cooking methods were all associated with glycemic index variation. Bottom line: glycemic index is a poor tool used to describe carbohydrate quality or how someone will respond (ie postprandial glucose concentrations). I’m happy to provide more information if requested.

    Dr Hyman, trying to find a better bread to eat instead of whole grains, whole wheat. Is their anything you recommend. I do all organic. Cause of colon no seeds, corn or nuts. I love avocados, I eat tuna, chicken, sardines, salmon. Can’t eat beef, and tomatoes don’t agree with me.

    How do you respond to people that always say:
    - why are you taking additional nutrients? You are 30yo and in good health, so it's useless
    - your additional nutrients are not absorbed by your body anyway,
    - that their parents are not taking anything and they are still in good health,

    I don’t know who’s doctor should I believe 😢. Dr. Gundry practically says no to protein animal. He have said he would eat meat one time every 3 months and that he only eats eggs from Europe’s farms.

      @@cherylelinsmith743 the only in common all they have is avoid sugars. Dr. Caldwell is in favor of vegan diet high in salads and whole grains including wheat and oatmeal, he had reversed stuffed coronary arteries with this diet but Dr Gundry says no whole grains!

      @@Dan-dg9pi Their fatty acid profiles are not healthy. As in their - Omega 3 ratios vs Omega 6 - Mono vs Polly ratios for a start. Wanna learn more look/study such things up if you like.
