Ok i’m actually really excited to see more random horror game videos edited like this. Some indie horror games can feel so dull without John’s commentary and i kinda like how the editing enhances/emphasizes his humor. I’m not sure about long series playthroughs but i think for random horror games it’s really engaging especially for the more humorous or bad games he plays. It can be a bit much at times, but i feel like it’ll feel more smooth as this like new editing style becomes a bit stronger and smoother. my only issue rn is the face zoom and the video zooms. I feel like face zooms are supposed to be for when something is actually happening in the facecam like a change of expression or an action, but a lot of these here just seemed kinda random. Like i think it was nice for his deadpans and stuff, but sometimes it felt kinda distracting from his actual jokes rather than emphasizing thing. Same thing with the zooms for the game. I feel like those are to focus on small details or hard to see things for the ease/humor of the audience, but a lot of them felt forced and things that we could plainly see, like in Submission with the big Warning screen zoom. I thought parts like at 26:41 were engaging or like the zoom in on Kythryls face then john saying hi was funny. But i really like the idea of this kind of editing for the Random Horror Games videos and i really liked this video. Lmao ok i came here from Johns Tweet abt the lack of constructive feedback so i tried cus i really do enjoy his videos but i also sound like a pretentious prick so goodnight y’all
Man, CorpsePile was already snuffed out before John even saw what he had in store. That was great lol. And Spookware @ The Video Store was great too. Gave me those Wario vibes as well. And hey, don't bully Lefti!
I'm usually more of a silent watcher, but John I couldn't help but notice the really timely and funny commentary this video, even more than usual! Just wanted to say I appreciate all your hard work and your humor! Much love from Belgium :)
I'm late to the party but I actually quite like the editing of this video It's very unlike John's usual editing sure, but I feel the zooms add a comedic effect imo
it sucks that so many viewers aren't used to change (which is only one video?) but i really enjoyed the editing on this one! it showcases your humor that is really personable on your streams but minimized on YT, and honestly, it made the weirdness of these dreadx games x10 funnier to me. kudos to max for putting this together for you, it turned out awesome! it's always nice to try something different every now and then, and to see something different, too. content is always A+, john, thank you!
The whole HQ Residential House thing was amazing, that and the note on the board about hoping you wouldn't play it because of that... seemed like corpsepile had a fun time with that lil' easter egg (if it can be called that.) Also, I loved the editing in this vid! The zooming in on text being read was a nice touch and made it a bit easier for people like me to focus on the actual text more. Max's sense of humor with the editing complimented your own very well; I think it's a good dynamic between lets player & editor - would love to see more of it! xoxo
the pixel graphics in HQ Residential actually makes it feel completely new... what a perfect concept to turn such an iconic indie-gamer inside joke into something actually really fun!
Corpsepile did that game really well I love the meme of him trying to create a game in a way is its own game. Also did anyone else notice the ghostly figure at 16:41 at the right of the frame lol
I feel kinda bad, but I think the editing with the close ups is kinda distracting though I appreciate the effort behind it. I dunno, it kinda takes away from the kinda chill vibe of pervious vids. That being said it could be something I could get used to and not even notice later on. To end this comment on a nice note though thanks for the entertainment on this year's weird version of Halloween. Edit: I just noticed more comments talking about this, so I feel more guilty leaving this comment now. If the editor is reading this the work with the editing is done well, I think people's main objection to it stems from how it breaks the immersion the previous videos had with the minimal editing. That being said though I'm sure there are thousands of people that like the editing.
I like some moments of the editing, like the zoom in on the "submit" button while John was wondering why he lost a life or zooming in on Potato bouncing. I guess I generally don't like jumpcuts to the facecam unless the person is talking directly to the audience.
John, thank you for this video!! It was really fun for Halloween! Just want to say that personally I find the new editing style a bit jarring, however; made it a little difficult to watch, for me. Maybe using the jumpcuts and zoom-ins a little more sparingly in the future would be good. But that's just my two cents.
Being a big fan of johns and having grown accustomed to his video format, the huge abundance of face cams cuts is throwing me off a bit. Here and there is amusing and charming, but the carpet bombing of jump cuts in the first 3 minutes is not lol. Either way im watching the videos. Just sharing my opinion Edit: i still love your videos
Yeah they're a bit much and really unnecessary. They're fine when used in the right circumstance but that were used every other minute when they didn't add anything
Yeah I really kind of hated the editing, some of the close ups were fine, but it kind of sucked and was really distracting but I watch because I like John.
Gotta say I'm not used to this new style of editing, and I noticed its very similar to the editing with one of Gab's new videos. The quick cuts and zoom in's are quite jarring because I'm not used to so much of it in your videos or Gabs.
Not sure if John is going for a generally new editing style with all the face zooms, or if it was just because It was fitting for how silly these games are. 🤔
@@WoofnSmash I came to the comments to only say this. John is awesome because he doesn't need those cuts. I hope he doesn't ever do it again unless he's memeing.
It was actually a nice change for a bit but a few people complained in the comments so that ended that. Max did a great job with editing but we don't get to have nice things because people can't handle any kind of change.
@@KarlaRei This kind of editing just can't work with John. I love this kind of over-the-top editing with Markiplier because his personality fits it so it never gets repetitive, but not with John, unless the video is just made for a joke or he's memeing around. Well, I guess this fits the video because of the Dread X Collection, which is why I still appreciate it here, but we just don't want it to stay. Simple.
@@oculartremors this seemed kind of rude 💀 he might be exploring different editing styles, and zooming in and out on a few frames in a video/full-screening the webcams doesn’t make it like everyone else’s styles lol

HQ residential house is the Wilhelm scream of horror games, meaning it's now part of gaming culture and that's a fact I don't know if I like or hate.
