    Mike, God bless u for making this video. I am 64 yr. Old woman with little money to spare. I got into my 2015 toy/tacoma and turned my air on and all i could smell was strong urine. I cried. I search on u tube and watched your video. I knew I had to do it myself. Of course it took me a very lot longer to do but i did. I also wiped the motor off with strong lavender to clean it. I prayed after i put it back together. I gave thanks and asked that it does not smell bad when i crank it up. The good Lord answered my prayers. Thank you so very much for making your video or i could not have done it. You not only saved me money but also worry. May God bless you young man. Thanks again.

    Best vid I've seen for this . I appreciate the clear photography, instructions and lack of distracting noise.
    I guess the reason these filters cost so much is so few folks know about or think of changing them?

    Thanks for the video. I watched a couple of videos showing how to access the cabin filter and yours was the best. I was also happy to see that you also show how to removed and clean the squirrel cage blower.

    Really complete and clear info with lots of details. Thanks for not assuming that I knew ANYTHING about how to remove or replace the glove box like other videos. Now I can get the wood rat nest out that was built while I was down with a damaged foot and not driving. THANKS.

    I cleaned mine today, leaf stem on the blower motor was making it squeal, relieved it wasn't a bad motor. Good vid.

    Thankyou! I cant believe it cost over $200 for such a simple job but I guess if people arent willing to do it themselves they must be willing to pay it..

    Thanks for the how-to. Just did this on my 2009 Taco, mine was worse than yours :) The entire cubby was FULL including the blower area. Its great how well the air flows now :) thank you! Looks like a small spring came loose and its to the handle mechanism on the glove box.. will have to see how to put this back on though.

    Of course I find this video AFTER i already replaced my cabin air filter... The old owner had let it sit so long that a packrat had chewed its way in from under the wheel well and had access to the cabin filter housing as well as the engine filter and had built nests behind both filters. I only found it because the smell when I used the ac or heater was horrible.. not to mention i found the frustration of the 5.5 mm socket to be ridiculous honestly didnt even know i had one until today lols

    i have a 05 and what i wana know is where does that cabin filter pull air from? Because wherever that intake is, lets mice make a nest on my canin air filter. I need to find that intake and put a mesh screen over it...Getting tired of cleanout mouse nest out of my truck....I miss old trucks...NO stupid cabin air filters...

    There is only slight variations on all 3 Toyota's we have. I saved over 100 dollars by changing the cabin and engine air filters on moms Camry. Around 20 minutes time is what it took.

    I just did mine and the problem with red squirrels were ditto.I vacuumed everything OK.
    My Toyota is 11 years old and the top pin on the damper assembly needed to bet a bit of engineering with a wood plug and electricians tape to get it to work.
    Your solution will vary, but engineer you must.
    These things are designed to break!

    Haha I’ve also gotten a rodent nesting in my 2012 Tacoma

  • @orbit1138
    @orbit1138 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    That rodents nest isn't unusual especially for those who live in the country. Mine had a rodents nest also but I was not charged for removal. The dealer was doing a free inspection and found the problem when they checked the cabin air filter. That cabin air filter is about 7 dollars on EBAY. Both the engine air filter and cabin filter costs about 20 dollars on EBAY. Both are very easy to install yourself. Never leave the filter out since pine needles and the like can fall into your air fan and jam it up. Burning the thing out.

  • @jasonbarrett2675
    @jasonbarrett2675 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great vid...but the problem is not solved....To correct & eliminate the rodent/nest problem you must remove the plastic cowl screen below the windshield and you will see the 'box' that the rodents get into. I covered mine with screen after cleaning out the nests & disinfecting with Lysol. Then I got inside the truck & changed the cabin filter......

    Just in case anyone came here for an 04 Tacoma, there is no cabin air filter there is only the filter by the engine. Hope that saves someone time.

      Animal feces can get on top of that filter. That means people in the cabin will be breathing bacteria and viruses from that manure.

      Cats can access a cabin air filter? I thought the cabin air filter was a good place to hide from a cat...🤔
