Just got one recently as well! I also have one for CRV, SOI ,and FOTB but the PTDN one is my favorite I still remember when the set released and going on the pojo forums back then!
@@edwardlara4271 do any other ones have a border around the art? I’ve been thinking about picking up the pack with black rose on it but pndn is the only one I’ve seen with the box around yubel
glad you mentioned the short printing at 14:40, there was a pojo post of a guy who open several hundred cases of GLD1, and confirmed opening 19-20 of each gold rare, except DMOC, Crush Card, and Mirror Force, which they only opened 5 each of
I bought random boxes of Gold Series one, occasionally two, at a time where I could find any left (hadn't been paying attention and randomly saw one box at walmart on my home from work) ended up with 21 boxes and got 4 crush cards, and a DMOC, traded a CCV for sealed booster of 1st ed PTDN. Still have the sealed booster and DMOC and a CCV graded PSA10 which I still have LoL.
These yugioh history vids are interesting to me because I was young when the sets were released. I find it cool that the core set light of destruction released on my fourth birthday in 2008
Yubel should be mentioned because Neos Wiseman got nerfed as a monster instead of a fusion. All because it would been op. And the fact they were trying to promote Syncro monster. You think ppl can't run Dark calling and Yubel and Wiseman turn 1 if that was a fusion monster?
16:39 - GK Monarchs during the DAD Return era is *so* cool, I had no idea this was even a thing. With the exception of Dimension Wall, that sideboard is the Lockdown Burn core straight out of Goat.
This was a really good video! 2008 was a crazy year for the game. I'm looking forward to yoy eventually getting to 2013, as there's no really good historical videos on that year and specifically the relevance of the TCG getting its own dedicated banlists going forward
Is kinda surprising how important was 2008 for the game in general. Right at the end of the GX era 2:57 The set that would change everything 5:02 Don't worry Yubel. You will have your time in the spotlight in 2023 - 2024 with Phantom Nightmare. 33:15 THE SYNCHRO ERA BEGINS! 53:33 gorz changed player behaviour
Such awesome content! I’m so glad I found your channel. I’ve been looking for Yugioh TCG history videos like this forever. I have so much nostalgia around the competitive game. I played for a very long, only quitting in 2019 when the power creep finally got too much for me to handle anymore. Keep up the great work! Your videos deserve so many more views.
This was when I started playing competitive Yugioh, and what a time it was. Coincidentally I also started playing tournament MTG when Caw-Blade was the deck to beat, so I guess I just like pain.
Great video! Such an interesting year as someone who saw all the changes leading up to this point. It felt like before 2008, the releases we much slower in terms of meta defining cards, but these new releases all changed the game a lot!
I've never played yugioh irl, and the only method of playing yugioh i had was by video game (which was tag force 1). At the time i did not know of all meta stuff and alike, i just played the game with whatever deck i created. Sometime last year my brother started playing yugioh tag force 3 game. I, at the time hadn't played yugioh for a while, got curious of it and started watching tag force 3 gameplay on youtube. The uploader mainly used Tele-Dad deck (or sometimes Lightsworn). Watching the videos opened my eyes and mind, it was like "Oh wow it seems playing these decks is really fun. This Dark Armed Dragon monster is very cool, and synchro monsters like Stardust are fun too". I found another side of playing yugioh, and it hooked me very well. I picked up the game to play decks like Gladbeast, Dad, and Lightsworn, i felt like i wanted to dig deep into this stuff more. It made me like playing yugioh more than before. That is one reason why Tele-Dad deck has special heart in me, even though i got to know it 14 years after its dominance.
Love These Videos man keep it up 🙏🏼 Good to learn how the meta was back in the Day 😊 And i dont wanna know how long you are working on a Video like that 😅😁
I wonder if ude ygo was more powercreepy or once konami took over it became more powercreepy. Nowadays its just full blown powercreep. And i shudder to think what would push yugioh even further
Konami stopped the meta of HERO just by simply fuckin up Wiseman card. Yubel could of been viable with D Hero E Hero and Neos with cards such as Dark calling being abused with King of swamp. Emergency call and Stratos.
These videos must take a lot of work. It’s really appreciated.
owning a phantom darkness pre-release shirt is my biggest yugioh flex, LOVING the series and reliving the early 2000

07-11 were my years back then, these videos have brought back so many memories, and nostalgia 😭 thank you so much
Shout out to Yugioh Tag Force 3 from this year, where you can play Full Power TeleDAD and just win the whole game lol.
It was Stardust Accelerator for me.
I wish my lifetime metagame heavily featured a dad return 😔
Hopefully you got a TeleDAD at least. 😂
I just came back from a vacation and I downloaded your entire history catalog and binged them on the airplane and then I come home to this.

I like how Yubel is only mentioned here because of fans of the anime that might be watching this

More Yu Gi Oh history, let's go
Wait, Mezuki was from Bastion?! Out of all characters, the monster that is THE staple of any Zombie strat is from Bastion?! My damn, that's crazy!
Yea, Bastion’s deck in the manga is a Yokai deck, Mezuki, Gozuki, and Kasha were all used by him. That series is a trip, give it a read.
Underrated Yu-gi-oh channel. Great content!
Crazy! That's my decklist at 26:00 minute. 2008 nats.

Just saw the Joshua reaction to your vid and came to say your recap brought back so much nostalgia of my junior and senior years of HS. Dope video

Dark Armed dragon or how i like to called it: GRAND DAD
FLINTSTONES?

this era of YGO was possibly the most fun you could have in the entire lifespan of the franchise. couldn't have quit at a better time

Thank you so much! I was looking for deck profiles to look up
love the effort you put in to history videos. Keep it up!
Really enjoy these, very cool to see what was happening in Yu-Gi-Oh between me playing as a kid and masterduel
Great video, brings back a lot of memories.
This is some of the best yugioh content I've ever seen. Very excited to check out your other videos
I love these recaps and I watch each one multiple times! Looking forward to the next one!

The 2008 Worlds top8 Skill Drain deck was not a Beatdown deck. It was Skill Drain Gravekeepers.
lol I Listen to that space groove theme all the time
Subbed
So the OCG was all run by Konami completely, but now they run both the OCG and TCG since Upper Deck lost all rights.

What abou the history of duel links videos ?
Poor Tubro Warrior

Why "perfect circle"?
Sorry for my ignorance 🤫
Yubel just took worlds 16 years later
What was ost that played during the Dark Armed Dragon section?
Caius is best hornles

Funny how yubel is meta now
AYOOOO
It's painfully obvious a lot of work goes into these videos. That being said, you're about 14 years late
using gender neutral pronouns for the clearly female monsters but using she on yubel is crazy. good video tho
