Circular is legal in the ocg. The argument that it had to be banned because it limited card design is wrong. Cyberse cards are designed with circular in mind. The status of electrumite creates a similar situation for pendulums. In instances like this the ocg and tcg need to be in sync. You can't have one list where a critical card is banned
Absolutely correct, even with Maxx C being legal over there, which totally counters Mathmech as a whole. We don't have the cockroache, so I still can't fix this loophole of why Circular, which it was ok being at 1, has been banned. I only can blame certain person, sadly.
Gotta love how they went from Limit 1 to Ban of Circular, but Konami doesn't dare to touch shit like the Branded deck. EVERY format except TCG has Branded Fusion at 1, and for good reasons, and the deck can play toxic crap like Gimmick Puppet or Ra Disciple lock thanks to Sanctifire Albion. I really hope they back track on Circular eventually (like how they did with Gazelle)
From otk city to negate and remove, to cyberse pile, one of my favorite decks has been through a wild ride. And while Circular was one of the most silver bullet cards for any archetype ever and...arguably deserved its ban(besides making room for the new hotness), the deck was arguably one of the most fun decks I have ever mained. Good night sweet Circular, hope to see you free again someday.
i actually really like mathmech and this video essay was incredibly good and accurate! you earned a sub (also not gonna open it but banning circ was too much, limiting it made the deck 90% of its follow up)
Btw you can still make a full firewall board (3 firewalls) without circular. Mid combo you can even make lapacian to handrip. The sauce is... @ignister + the cynet ritual support. 1/3 of your deck are 1 card combo starters 1/3 are boardbreakers and handtraps (and small world targets) and 1/3 are 1 of combo pieces. It has so much free space in the main deck that you can actually run crossout at 3 since you already maindeck every good handtrap & boardbreaker.
Ban Circular is very stupid. Blaming Mathmech for Cyberse pile combo is really stupid. You can still end with the same endboard in cyberse pile, without Circular, because now Cyberse has a lot of 1-card combo. I don't like when banlist kills a less popular deck, to nerf the more popular deck, especially when the ban does nothing. . If I can fix the banlist. I will ban the Sigma instead. I know Circular is a strong 1-card combo without normal summon. You can do the main combo or bait opponent's disruption with only this card. Butt, this is only possible if they have Sigma. Without Sigma, you need more Mathmech or resources to optimize Circular's effect. Guess, the deck that can bring more Mathmech monsters is Mathmech. This is the better way to decrease the power of Cyberse pile, but keep Mathmech playable. . I suggest Konami never consider the "Pro-player" opinion for the banlist. Because YGO is very unique, the Pros will do anything to make their Tourney Journey easier. They will always be biased, they cannot create a fair banlist, and they will try to kill other decks and keep their favorite deck the only deck alive.
I don't think Circular as a card should exist purely because it warps every cyberse deck around it sort of like electrumite, Electrumite COULD be legal and pend wouldn't be good but any deck that Konami doesn't want to work with electrumite ends up being too restrictive in how it's used and then ends up extremely mediocre. Banning Circular means they're free to make new cyberse decks and don't have to design them to specifically not work with circular.
I agree but at the same time I also think Cyberse has forever been stuck in the same style of deck theory unless they lock you into specifics like Marincess or Salamangreat do, hopefully one day they fix that lingering problem but for now it's too prevalent
Mathmech Circ is only really good in a cyberse pile…it’s not splashable in any other cyberse deck other then maybe @ignister which is already used with a cyber pile mathmech. Outside of that it’s not used in salad or marincess. Circ is very much possible in the game now especially given all the much more broken one card starters that get you infinitely more value

I played mathmechs before I quit and resold/gave away my entire collection and now what's getting me back into the game is purrely lol.
