Just had open heart surgery. As a longtime muscle car enthusiast, this video is still great therapy. Ah, the days spent crusin' in the 69 Super Bee! You're a pro and thanks for helping me recover quickly.
Extremely fortunate to have had Scott so very graciously haul me as his tightly belted passenger in 'Coyled' around Firebird's road course during a local Cobra Club track day (and to have found this video copy on TH-cam; I'd not seen it since its .asf format days; his rollbar cam was way before GoPro existed). The acceleration simply never quits. No flat spots, no tapering off. Hardest accelerating car I've ever ridden in. At the time, he'd replaced the original 750 downdraft Holley (660 on the dyno) with a 1050 throttle body, but it hadn't been back to the dyno yet as he was still working on getting it to stop a little better! I think it was around 1800-2000lb empty. The bit where he zooms past the 2000MY vintage Mustang Cobra R gives some indication of Coyled's power.
I really enjoy an on board camera recording a skilled driver in one of my favorite cars. My Backdraft with a 427 Windsor stroker Roush and five speed would not stand a chance with the setup and driver! Less power by 120 HP on a long track. Great video!
Hey-Zeus....I've been watching this vid for 15 years! Can we all just agree the driver is...Jeff Gordon! I mean, c'mon, the gloves and suit...the black helmet (when he didn't want to be recognized).... It don't take a GED... 🙂 Hey Jeff...if you still (occasionally) check the comments; great laps in that thing -- I also love the 'test drive' of a 'new' Camaro video (i.e. Pepsi MAX commercial). Take care, thanks for the memories.
Nice video. I used to race there in the 80's and 90's. I turned laps of around 2:48 with a Capri powered by a 2.3 four banger. It ran F-production. Less speed on the straights but cornered like crazy. I wish I had some video of that. BTW, I also have a 427 Cobra.
Hello, I like it !!!!! I'm french, i leave near Bordeaux (good win), I 'm building cobra, I see your nice video. I recherch the angle of wheel (in french = carrossage/pince/ ouvetrire) for the race, have you got it, please for the front and the rear wheels ? how much weigh you car ? have you photos of your chassis ? sorry for my English thank's if you are another video I enjoy see it ! Olivier
cobra 358; I have a 514 Superformance that is terrible for track day.I am thinking about the Roush 364 w/mapped fuel injection 7500 red line based on a 302 block. Any input would be appreciated.
#1 he's a very good driver. #2 As a previous Cobra owner, I can say that it takes huge balls to drive that car that aggressively.
seen this video 100 times and will never get sick of it. Sorry your selling it. all the best.
Fastskippy Why did you sell it?

I'm going to watch this in 30 years time and say " my god really miss the combustion engine!!!"

That poor car needs another gear! I love this video though.
Cobra, the most lust worthy car ever.
Omg....what a great video....I'm watching it on a large screen and find myself stomping on the gas pedal and reaching for another gear....WOW....
was that a cobra R you passed at the beginning?

I love carousel 9-10 and Kettle Bottoms. You can really light up your breaks going into 5 however. Great track!
What is up with those needles bouncing around
Does anybody know if that a 427 Cobra or what motor the car is running?
Nice laps.
i was laughing with joy the entire time i watched this!!
Thank god for Cobras
love that sound
fantastic sounding car omfg!!!!!!!
very cool video
Spinning that thing to 7000 ish...bad ass! Has to be a well built motor (or a modern Dohc?) to spin like that...
Its a detuned 358 cid 660 Horsepower Winston cup motor. In a 2200 lb cobra with bad brakes...
Clocked at 170, Jeff Gordon would be much faster, as fast as I could pedal it, ran a best of 2:24 at RA. Not sure what Mustang I passed...
I wish you could upgrade this footage too 1080 or 4K you would get a shitload of views going there in 3 weeks
Is that a stock replica
I was trying to think of a comment worthy of posting... but WOW is the only thing i can think of.
i wanna give it a go
Great footage! is that a Kirkham? Check out my Cobra video at Millers Motorsports park
only 4 gears...imagine what 5 would produce!
Fun car
Damn dude you need one more gear or a taller 4th gear.
Dynamite
fuck that thing sounds mean
one more gear would of made it fly!
Woohooo!
Goddamned brake fluid reservoir chirping...Mine does it too when driven hard.
