Owning one, this is a great portrayal of what they are like on the track, as they say, racing a Cobra is like dancing with a chainsaw! Really cool clip.
Yes, I own a Shelby 427 Cobra with an aluminum 482 side oiler. It makes 630 at the flywheel. Only two other people have driven the Cobra beside myself. Use to track it but it got too expensive to buy it on the track and risk damage. I am going to have to sell it before I get too old. My wife could never drive it.
Watching after seeing the Goodwood clip of the same. Only thing that could have made this visual feast better, was if that second angle was looking back at those GT-40's! :) That noise from the Big Block, it's something special!
Thanks for the excellent video. I'd like to use this as an example to show Sky Sports on how to use a PIP. Obviously there isn't anyone with half a brain in that organization that knows HOW TO FOLLOW THE ACTION ??? They think we want to see shots of "NAMELESS STRANGERS and BACKS OF HEADS WITH HEADPHONES and MECHANICS WATCHING TV and other MINDLESS FULL SCREEN CUTAWAY SHOTS, while there is actual racing going on on the track ??? Why not insert those brainless shots using a PIP like you did . This way they can keep all the action on the screen at FULL SCREEN for most of the race. Sky Sports will never do this but you did a good job along with the telemetry. Thanks again and bouna fortuna.
I don’t see how it would begin to be competitive with a real GT40. Shelby and Ken Miles helped develop the 427FE engined GT40. The GT40 had the same engine, It weighed about the same, and was extremely aerodynamic. The non aerodynamic Cobra hit a brick wall at 140MPH according to Miles/Shelby.
Yet the AC cobra at tracks with longer straights was not competitive with the close top Ferraris. Hence the reason for designing the Daytona Cobra. The real explanation of the Cobra being faster than the GT 40 maybe the track suits the cobra more or the driver in the GT 40 was not as skilled as the cobra or a combination of both. Equally skilled drivers at Lemans the GT40 would win hands down over the AC Cobra.
It depends on the track as you said. Shorter straights can favour to the Cobras, and I have to mention nowadays it is not rare to see top speed over 300kmph on street cobras, which would be enough to take over the most GT40 from that time.

Don't do the track with mine. But I push on roads like Tail of the dragon. Car is made for it.

Best music channel
I know all about those hand cramps! Nice driving!
WIll not use a small steering wheel myself.
Heaps of grunt, gotta be a 427 FE big block !!
Is amazing how those high RPM can do.. It's way too crazy seen the speedometer at 180 KPH just in 3rd gear..Wow..
That thing is FAST
Damn, he is DRIVING that car. Those steering inputs are crazy - and the wind noise, no windshield to speak of!
I would like to know everything about the motor build. Rods, crank , cam and so on.
Superb. That looks like a ton of fun.
The ballssss to still be sending it while ur hand is seized up!
Most visceral driving I’ve ever seen.
What a beast...
Absolutely mint! 👌
And I thought my Factory Five at the "2nd and 3rd gear autocross" was brutal!
they really are brute beasts to drive. 6 point is to keep you in the car when the steering wheel tries to eject you :)
Would like to know what replica that is, and the running gear.
I think this may be a real car, as it's Bill Shepherd racing it...
Not an original shifter or dash layout. Scoop looks like it's part of the hood, not screwed on. If it's original there's some modifications.
Holy shite! What was the name of that heavy metal band in the background?!
I believe they're called "The Four-Twenty Sevens" 😂
@@PiDsPagePrototypes tickets bought. The only car I would rather look at than drive. I want to live.
Awesome
nice to see that monster on the edge. Petrol spills from my screen.

The GT40s weren't 427s, I believe they're all 289s or something...
That’s the 289 you’re thinking of….427 different animal….completely…..
@@jcgabriel1569 The Lemans winning GT40 had a 427.
