Brother, You are amazing. I need to do this to my 2015 3.6 Durango. I have ported an LS Engine FAST 90 intake and had fablous results. I want to put my skills to work on this Dodge intake upper and lower intake manifold. THANK YOU for taking the time to post this work.
I did my own manifold for my 3.6 Chrysler 200 everybody who hearse the car now keeps asking is that supercharged nope just in house ported I ported it then hand sanded it for 2 days to perfection i even did the throttle body just for the hell of it
Nice! I will be doing this, instead of the dremel attachment I bought some hex grinding wheels and I’ll be using an extension on the impact driver to get deep in the ports. Hopefully everything works fine.
I ported the heck out of mine last night. This video was very helpful in giving me the confidence in taking my manifold off. The 3" Sanding wheel was hard to find at Home Depot but MAN did it put in some work on the inlet. I couldn't imagine porting the inlet without that sanding wheel. I think somehow I managed to get what looked like twice as much material out of the inside of mine than what was on your bench. I was able to get deep in there with the sanding wheel to open up the intake.
I've done this to cast iron cylinder heads and intake manifolds using only a dremel and tons of stones and sanding paper and polishing compounds. Took forever and then I ported and polished the intake and exhaust ports. All this on a 427 chevy for a customer, I have never wanted to do this again on another engine. But since it was 25 years ago I might just once more on my own ;)
Hey man great video! I was looking at doing mine I have on my car now, do you have a list of the sizes of the tools you used? I was wondering if you think it’s better to tackle it yourself or go through one of the companies to have it done?
Victor Xavier sorry about late response. I used a combination of 80 and 120. And I applied low pressure on the tools when removing plastic. Low speeds are ideal too.
@@scatspeed3114 thank you for the reply! I have a brand new porting kit I bought years ago from Eastwood that I want to put it to use! I wish you continued success with your channel!
Whoa Weezy I used a cordless drill on the opening for the throttle body opening. Sanding wheel and dremel you should be able to find then at a hardware store or a welding shop. Measure the throttle body on the inside with you Caliper. Off the top of my head I can’t remember what the size was on the throttle body but just make sure you bore it evenly to in the opening. I get back to you on the actual measurement. Take your time and don’t rush it.
I'm curious about the longevity of the intake afterwards since your shaving material, unlike metal this plastic is notorious for cracking. Mine cracked on my 02 4.7L Ram.
Scat Speed I don’t have access to an unlocked pcm or a tuner. I’m worried about the car running too lean with a cold air intake, larger throttle body and ported intake manifold.
Randy Rodriguez I asked Brian at Peitz performance the same question. He said they are both stock parts and you don’t need a tune. They’ve done it before. But you get more out of this set up if you get a proper tune. it’s okay to do it. Check out his TH-cam channel if you have more detailed questions BMason is his channel.
Build it R/T modern muscle claims 10 percent improved air flow on their ported intakes. On a stock tune with out the ported throttle body... I’ll be conservative and say 5-7 hp. We’ won’t know for sure without Dyno time.
Nice job on the intake, what did you use to clean it out after porting. Thanks for the sub, will be doing an update sometime this weekend for some new mods I got.
@@scatspeed3114 Yea I seen them, but Scat, I'm not willing to spend $700 Canadian dollars on something I can do my self. I will buy there ported throttle body.
Thank you, I managed! I ended up using a honing tool for cylinder boring and used the dedicated grit stones. The tool was like 40 bucks and is spring loaded so sands evenly on all sides of the bore! Worked great
port nut He clearly says a week to do a FULL port job..idk where you got over a week from..I was going to ask about your reading comprehension abilities but you answered my question 😂🤣
yeah, mostly i fight against check engine lights, i have 300c, 2005, awd and made: cai, oil catch can, cleaned soot from pistons, head ported, long tube headers instaled, suitcase replaced with freeflow mufflers and rear mufflers too, cats deleted, made custom tune from diablo tuners for lpg and car is fasteron mid range, 1 second faster to 60mph-5.9, but max speed is same 248-250kmh, now i wait to contact my mechanic to install camshaft from 6.1 srt, and now i think about that plastic intake manifold to port it
This is a hack job& not the right way. You're supposed to use dye on the manifold, install in car. The dye on the heads will then allow a port match when everything is correctly blended
It's literally taking material off to allow for more air flow, how is it not porting? You can do the same thing to a intake made of metal, which heat soaks even more than plastic. 🙄
Just shows you know nothing. You couldn't be more wrong. Should have done your homework before posting such a baseless and ignorant comment. It is porting in every way that porting is done. 🙄🥺🥴

gman4hire its a lot of work but in my opinion it’s well worth it.
Great video, humble, professional and informative. Thanks!
ragoff thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks for the sub👍
Great informative video! I'll be trying that out instead of spending $800 on an Edelbrock manifold.
How wide do i go on the porting. I want it to be the same size as the heads
How did you clean the intake afterwards?
I really liked your video and thank you for supporting my channel.
THE DWANY EFFECT thank you.
Were you buy port sand paper at want to port mine
Excellent video bro, thank you!!!
bro u got link to the tools u use ?
How do you know how much to take off for the ports for the port matching
I just uploaded a video on that
Thank you!!
that's a shit load of work for 3 horsepower lol
Yea but what happens when you stack it with tb and a tune and some long tubes? You’ll add 53 hp ;) lol
Bro i ported some dudes 6.1 intake he shaved a .85 of a second off his 0-60. 3 horsepower okay lol
I was just saying the same thing😂😂🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️smh
Nah, there are a couple of videos of guys with Dynos showing 15-25hp from just porting and some tuning helped.
@@jerrymossor288 tuning is where the horsepower came from
I know this video is super old, but did you by any chance get a check engine light after this? I just ported mine today, and have an engine light now
Never got a check engine light. Even with a super aggressive port job.
@@scatspeed3114 thank you for the reply. I got a p2008 and a p2017 code

Looks good

How did you get the brake booster hose off I can’t get it off
I twisted the hose with some adjustable pliers
What were the power gains
Around seven
Scat Speed that’s it I figured it would be more
SRT HEMI really depends on how bad the intake was to begin with. It could be more with a ported throttle body. You could see over ten extra horses.
15-25hp search up the videos.
My tuner recommended swapping to a 6.1 manifold if I wanted to port what do u think??
Heat soak is a problem with the 6.1 intake manifold.
Isn't a rougher surface in the intake translate into denser air? I wouldn't make it too smooth
This video is great and I'm a mustang guy..Lol! Just curious what grit bits and paper you used on the plastic intake? Thx

what grit flap wheel did you use for the intake, i seen you say 3''
180

Thanks hoping to get this manifold soon if I wanted you to port it for me how much would you charge?
so you used 180 grit sand paper drums and 3inch flap wheel?
For the most part. It’s very time consuming too.
Where did you get the sand paper like that ?
I got my 6.4 intake manifold brand new and I'm looking to port it what size sanding wheel did you use for the runner ports
Whoa Weezy I used 3/8 sanding wheel on my dremel, and I used a 3/8 wooden dowl rod wrapped with sand paper to reach all the way into the runners.
What did u use to mark
gray metallic sharpy
I'm curious about the longevity of the intake afterwards since your shaving material, unlike metal this plastic is notorious for cracking. Mine cracked on my 02 4.7L Ram.
I guess it really depends on the heat cycles and how well the porting job is. Hopefully not too much plastic was removed on crucial areas.
What about cleaning it?
Kenny Lauderdale a tub of hot water and degreaser.
I ported my intake and was just about to ask about cleaning it after I blew it out. Thanks
I just got a 85mm throttle body for my 5.7. Would it be worth porting the runners and port matching the intake to the new tb?
Yes because you will seen more of an improvement in HP. Worth the effort just be careful and don’t overdue it.

Where did you get the intake? Wanna put one on my 5.7
I bought the intake manifold at a Mopar swap meet in Van Nuys. Spring Fling. You can find a good intake manifold on eBay. Retail from $200 and up.
Do you take orders to bore the 392 intake I'm in san Fernando valley
Jose Velazquez I don’t really like to do side job. Sorry.
