Hello DonnySRT I have a real important question did you have to tune the intake afterwards? Because I heard you had tune a intake dodge doesn’t do that for you I’m looking for someone to do it for me. I have a K&N air tank it cost me around 650 and I don’t want to install it until I really know I have to tune it.
Where would you recommend finding one? I’m sure there are used ones available somewhere, but I’m nervous about eBay. Or do you think I should just buy a new one? Love the channel, tons of thoroughly helpful videos. Appreciate them all.
Hey Donny maybe you can shed some light onto this. This was posted on a Fb page about the msd circuit boss not working. ATTENTION 6.4L MANIFOLD SWAPPERS WHO USED THE MSD/CIRKIT BOSS Andrew Wehlage and I have been meticulously going over the MSD setup vs the PCM method I’m using. After many nights of testing, looking at prints, finding proper pin out and MANY MANY other things. We can both confirm along with a 3rd party...that the MSD IS NOT...IS NOT controlling your Short Runner Valve...for those that are tech savvy here’s where it gets long...pin 1-2 on the SRV plug are 12v and ground...when energized it will function check the STEPPER MOTOR inside the SRV...to get the stepper motor to “open” it’s needs to seen a 5v signal on the microprocessor INSIDE the SRV which then tell a PIC chip to switch a mosfet that goes to a H Bridge that tells the motor which direction to operate...it will not WILL NOT return from that state until it is told. And there’s no possible way using only pin 3 in the SRV from the MSD is switching both ways...not to mention it sends out 12-14v on a 5v system..it would immediately pop that circuit.. if I can be proved wrong I would GLADY love to listen...but butt dynos and blips in charts don’t tell me it’s actually working...more than anything the 12v side is just powered up via latching relay at desired RPM and the Short Runner Valve does it’s function check at the RPM.
Guess he figured it out. This his updated post. I STAND CORRECTED!! IT WORKS AND I WAS WRONG!!! The MSD/Cirkit boss does work inside the manifold. The load on the motor was much higher than anticipated. That being said. Video proof of me being wrong! I’m sorry to all who may have either sold/took off or returned their MSD setup. EDIT: This method works, but I have also developed a different way of moving the runners. A way cheaper and cleaner system using the PCM pinouts and power/ground from your PDC. The plug is $50 and all you need is for your tuner (HPT and CMR) to turn it on the program and set runner value. Similar wiring time, pinning the PCM may scare some people but it’s not that hard. My plug only works on 2011+ cars with 5.7’s.
Were you able to reuse the 5.7 map sensor or did you have to buy the one you mentioned in parts video ? Also did that new map sensor plug the same as I know when I did this swap on my ram I had to use the 5.7 map sensor as the 6.4 was a different size.
Donny question I’m having some issues with my scat pack. I have oil lick around the manifold intake also under. would it be a good idea for me to remove it and see what is going on? I was thinking of taking it to the dealer but I don’t want them to come with some story.
What did you do about the fuel line being in a new location for the new intake manifold? I have an 08 5.7 with the 392 manifold and the fuel line does not reach around to the new spout. Any advice is much appreciated!
Hptuners has an option to turn on the SRV in the 5.7 tunes , i always saw that option and wondered what it does . I think you can enable it from the pcm itself wothout the msd box
Z-automotive has a way easy & cheaper option for the SRV, just got mine few days back. Waiting for dyno guys to pull up, to do a stock run well kinda stock (hellcat intake, srt full exhaust .25" bigger).
So I’m in the process of doing this mod, the manifold is on except the harness I’ll be doing that this weekend but rn I keep getting a engine check light, I looked at the code and apparently it’s says “Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Input” what should I do
If I don’t get the window switch cause I have a mds delete and gonna get it tuned cause just put cam lifters etc would it work still? And I didn’t tap into the intake temp control or map sensor I just connected everything normal ? Is that bad
No you dont need them. Plugs may actually be the same. Gaskets are the same. Bought them from the 6.4 for my swap with my cam, tech skipped the intake due to wiring and the gaskets fit perfectly.
You should tune your when adding performance upgrade if you want the full performance. And you need a better CAI.. Its not inclosed and you are sucking hot air..
What control module do you 5.7 guys recommend to control the active runners when installing a 6.4 intake manifold? I’d like to add this mod before adding a wet plate nitrous system.
@DonnySRT intake doesn't sound like a bad mod to put on. I want to put one on mine, maybe slap on some exhaust and a cold air intake, put a tune on it, maybe then could we at least beat an SRT? All those mods would be at least over 2000$ for bolt ons
Hey donny I have done the 6.4l intake swap as well and a cam my tuner has shown me that straight drop in the curve when on the dyno it dyno fine before the cam swap just wanted to know if you think they might have hooked it up wrong after they did the cam
It will but you need a bracket for the 6.4 that attaches the bottom plate of the shaker to the engine. It has also been discontinued by mopar. So locating one will be difficult. I was told by my local dodge dealership that there was only one brand new one left in the country when I was looking for mine. I live in pa and it was in nc. Needless to say I bought it.
And also idk this might be a dumb question but this can fit into my 5.7 hemi challenger rt ? Right ? Because I found one 392 manifold on eBay but for charger
Just started gathering the parts. I have the intake complete from a car with only 2500 miles. Question....do I need the msd 8969 or will a jegs performance intellitronix n3211 do the same thing? About 150.00 difference? Fantastic videos btw. Can't wait to get started. Swapping cams from the same car as well. Mine is a 2015 Challenger R/t plus.
The reason I stuck with the MSD switch is because of previous documentation and that is has a history with this application. I am sure that you can get other ones to work, but I haven't seen anyone use that specific Jegs one yet
If anyone is doing the by piecing it all together new. Don’t forget the Pcv valve. It looks like the one from the 5.7 but it is not the same. Really ruined my day when I found out 🤦♂️
Can you please tell me two things... can I plug my MAP without having to lengthen the wire? Also, can I drive my car without the harness installed into the actuator (still waiting on all electrical parts to arrive), and if so once my manifold is installed to the engine block would I be able to clip the plug into the rear of the Manifold without unbolting it again? Thanks!
No, you need to lengthen the MAP sensor. And yes, you can plug in the actuator while the manifold is installed but it is pretty difficult in my opinion
Okay, can you briefly describe that process? And what type of wiring was used? Also I heard that there were two which needed to be lengthen. Is there only one? Also is there ANY added benefit using the 6.4 fuel rails and injectors over stock? I have a custom tune so either is no huge deal?

Awesome vids man! Question, I ordered the MAP sensor through the link provided in your parts video but when I got the part, it's way too small so it's not a snug fit in the hole used for the map sensor. Is there another part that I am missing? I can't find much online either
