hey guys...i really enjoyed your low key but very informative video...this teaching/how to/diy video shows well...the video is very clear and the info given is not rushed so the diy biker has full understanding ...nice`n slow and to the point and in plain basic english etc etc....good stuff...gonna watch this one again...my 89 evo decker with the lights on i can go no problem but if i shut the bike down for a stop she won`t start up and all i hear his the battery click....i have to boost the 89 battery and ride home ....bike is on trickle charger overnite and will start up no problem....when i ride this bike it has to be during the day with no lights on....i`m gonna get my circuit tester working again (needs batteries)....thanks again for the info video...i`ve got some work to do....the only problem is...here in Ontario, Canada our riding season is so damn short you don`t want your bike on the shelf for any length of time...3 old harleys is alot of work especially if i do all the work...my plate is full....thanks again
I got an 89 heritage stator come apart on the inside the bike pulled the wires loose which one's the ground and which one is positive or does it make a difference
I used to work as an Auto Tech. One thing I would've done. Charge the Battery before checking the New Regulators Voltage. Reason is, I have seen New Alternators fail shortly after install. Why? The Alternator was running 100%(Or more) Capacity trying to recharge an almost dead battery. Another thing, He did a Continuity Test without announcing it ahead of time. To save some confusion on future videos.
Think my battery is bad its a agm duracell just month old i put new rectifier on my bike couple weeks after i put the battery in its charging 14.4 battery got like 12.7 volt turn key on it drops fast to 12.1
Sometimes when you’re stuck on the road you think of everything else that could be your problem except the simple things like the battery is not charging.

at 4:18.... How do i check for the resistance? I understand the readings but where am i placing my meter testers?
Did you ever figure it out? I need the same information
Yes this will help me fix mine! Thank you jamesD. From Chidambaram Ga.
Can a bad stator cause a overcharge? Having a high voltage on a 2017 Harley 117

I have had that happen on my Cadillac.
Nice the easy way to learn how to check the charging system of harleythank you guys.
Does the return wire matter and where do we attach it?
what if the reading on multimeter did not go up on the voltage output test. would that mean a bad stator??
which one is the continuity ?

What about that thingymagiggy thingambob?

ok on yours you were getting a low reading at high idle. at 1900 rps i am getting an 18.65 volt reading is this also a bad regulator?
Did you ever find out if 18.65 bolts was bad regulator or stator
Change your regulator before it blows your battery up lol.
Your not goings to get a proper reading off the battery unless you bring the rpm up to around 1800-2000. Then go from there.
Great video thanks
The wors video 😎

Terrible video🤣
