      @@SCP-2402 Sorry, but a do not agree. To make a right hand turn on a two wheeled vehicle, you for a split second turn left. Immediately you get a lean to the right. On bikes the only thing i could call „countersteer“ would be lets say if your rears lose grip and you „drift“ a bank sideways, feels awesome on a dirtbike if you can handle it.

That way you understand that you can also pull back to turn. pull back on the right side to go left and pulling back on the left side to go right. pulling back on the left side has the safe affect as pushing forward on the right side.

I was skeptical, but he said "just try it, I bet you will never go back to the old way if you do." I tried it and he was right, I never went back. It quickly became second nature to me, not even having to think about it. It made controlling the bike so much easier, even in tight turns at higher speeds. I don't know if they teach this in motorcycle riding classes or not, but they should.

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Kinda, with some bikes you're not just keeping it from turning you're actually applying tons of pressure on the handle bar to turn it in the opposite direction of the turn. With sports bikes you use your lower body and core strength to push the bike over with your weight and then you don't need to apply nearly as pressure on the bars to initiate the lean

    It is pushing downwards not forward right?

  • @Odynson90
    @Odynson90 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    So the reason you push forward on the right to turn right and left to go left is because the rear of the bike still wants to push forward as it still has forward momentum applied. When you push forward on the right bar, the rear of the bike still pushes forward with the handle bars very slightly turned left which causes the bike to lean to the right, hence right movement.
    You’re essentially forcing the bike to become unbalanced in a controlled setting.
    Same works when wanting to go left.

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The name "counter steering" is just a really bad name, you aren't steering really. You're pushing the handlebar forward to lean the bike over. You don't even really need to push the handlebar either, when you lean over, the handlebars automatically counter steer themselves. You're not actually turning the handlebars, that's where it gets confusing lol
      It's just important to understand for making quick corrections mid turn, you don't want to be leaning right then accidentally turn the bars right when trying to dodge something, understanding counter steering means you will just apple more pressure to the correct side of the handlebars to be able to make a correction

If I'm traveling straight ahead and I turn the wheel to the left, The front wheel will go to the left of the line of travel, and the weight of the motorcycle will fall to the right, putting the bike into a lean. And the lean rightward is what causes the bike to steer in a circle to the right.

    Countersteering is counter intuitive cuz you would think pushing the right handlebar would point the wheel left and thus turn left and pulling the right handlebar would turn you right. What kinda physics are at work here i wonder

    • @kjellg6532
      @kjellg6532 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Two wheel physics. In a short snap you get a lean to the rifgt. Then you turn the handlebar into a right turn. The short countersteering snap is jus to get a right hand lean into the rifgthand turn.

    AFter you press forward an lean do you mantain the pressure forward? , like if you are in a big turn one you keep pushing or just push lean and the bike stay leaning the whole turn

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Basically you push as much as you need to to lean the bike over once you're at the position where the bike is leaned you hold that position you don't need to keep applying pressure to hold it there The bike should be stable mid turn. Don't forget that your body plays a huge part so if you're using your body to lean the bike over you don't need to apply as much pressure to the handlebars but if you aren't using your body to lean the bike over then you need to apply more pressure to the handlebars. In the beginning when you're just kind of learning how to do it I'd recommend actively thinking about counter steering when in a long sweeping turns like in this video instead of sharp slow turns like you would do at an intersection.
      Intuitively you definitely already know how to counters there because every time you turn at speed your counter steering whether you know it or not, it just gets a little confusing when you're actually thinking about. Stay safe out there don't overthink it but keep focused!!

    Why is counter steering harder on a sports bike than adventure bike?

    • @BodieMoto
      @BodieMoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because the handle bars are higher up on an adventure bike, which makes it easier to tip the bike over with a light press
      Sport bikes have clip ons the and handles are near the center of gravity. So think of it like tipping over an egg instead of a can of Pringles. The pringles are easier to tip over, but the egg take more effort to tip over as it's more stable at angle
