    I'm glad lentils are on the list. I make my own soup-stock now, using a recipe from the Glen and Friends channel. Lots of nutrients there. One of the soups I love making from it is lentil, sometimes lentil and spinach. Home made lentil soup, using homemade soup-stock, is in a league of its own.

      @@roshanikatbamna8708 Bottle gourd? I never thought of that. The Borough Market website has a good recipe for Soup of Squash, Black Bean and Sweetcorn, which would probably work with gourd. Daily exercise is key to as healthy life. Ride a bicycle to school, work or for fun.
    Riding a bicycle is a great way to exercise. Ebikes are bringing many older adults back to cycling.
    Cities need to do more to encourage people to ride bicycles. Safe protected bike lanes and trails are needed so adults and children can ride safely. Speak up for bicycles in your community. Bicycles make life and cities better. Ask your local transportation planner and elected officials to support more protected bike lanes and trails. Children should be riding a bicycle to school and not be driven in a minivan. Be healthier and happier. Ride a bicycle regularly.
    Make a bicycle your transportation option for short distance travel.

    Acrylamides are present in most foods that are browned, regardless of cooking technique. Fried fish, grilled chicken, potato chips, French fries, sautéed vegetables…all contain acrylamides. The lowest risk cooking techniques are boiling, microwaving and sous vide. Moderation is the key.

      Sous vide is always cooked in a sealed plastic package. Even though the temperature may not be very high, I would be concerned about the plastic leaching into the food. I think steaming or poaching is probably healthiest.
      I like to steam fish in an Asian bamboo steamer or sometimes use a French baking method called “en papillote”, which is to wrap the fish or meat and any seasonings in unbleached parchment paper and bake (steam) it in the oven on a steel rack over a cookie sheet. En papillote in French means in an envelope, because the food is wrapped as if in an envelope for steaming. I love to cook wild caught salmon or cod with some lemon slices, dill sprigs and a quality olive oil in this way. It’s delicious!!😋

    Most elderly people have problems getting up off the floor. As a child you spend a lot of time on the floor, adults do not.
    Doing yoga / stretching exercises on the floor can improve balance, mobility, flexibility and the ability to get up and down..
    Just getting up and down to the floor in a controlled manner is difficult for many older adults.
    Play with your children on the floor. Bend over, get down and pull weeds in your garden. Play with a pet on the floor.
    The more effort you make to work on balance and flexibility will pay dividends as you age.

    • @OTatime
      @OTatime 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bernadettechute7998 Flax milk is made by soaking flaxseed with water and pea protein, then straining off the husks. You’re left with a milky beverage that is 45 calories per cup, 5 grams of protein and 1200 mg of Omega 3 fatty acids. It has a mild, nutty flavor that is unsurprisingly like flax seeds. Banana milk is a beverage made by mixing banana and water in a high speed blender, then filtering it through a sieve or cheesecloth. Its consistency and thickness is similar to whole milk. I buy unsweetened flax milk and banana milk. I drink it with my coffee rather than dairy milk. Dairy interferes with the absorption of chlorogenic acid…a healthy phenolic compound in coffee. It provide benefits in fighting diabetes, cardiovascular disease , obesity, cancer and hepatic steatosis. I drink three cups of coffee each day.

    On the contrary, too much protein weakens kidneys and bones.

    • @KyBrancaccio

      REF? weakens kidneys and bones. Ref where a carnivore lifestyle specifically had this experience; like the Inuit people for example. I have serious doubt about this being found in strictly carnivore (evolutionary lifestyles). However, those that consume numerous non evolutionary foods must contend with the depletion of nutrients due to grain consumptions...example depletion of magnesium due to certain foods.

      This is not true. But if you've not eaten beans/legumes ever or in many years you may have some digestive distress for a while until your microbiome adjusts. Eat a tablespoon or two per day for a few months and increase very slowly. Also eat fermented vegetables like fresh sauerkraut. Cabbage and onions are great prebiotics that help your gut begin to grow the right bacteria to eat beans.

    These foods are good for us but unfortunately can come laden with roundup. Roundup is used as a dessicated to dry out the plants faster after harvested! Chickpeas (even organic) and lentils are particularly bad especially if from Canada. There is a book called Poison Foods of North America by Tony Mitra, based of Canadian Health food testing from many countries for Glyphosate levels.
    Seafood also unfortunately comes from polluted waters and can have all kinds of mercury and other toxins.

    From what I've read and heard and maybe I am wrong on that, increasing protein with age is not very effective at preventing sarcopenia. The trials have been rather disappointing. Wouldn't vitamin D be a better alternative? Vitamin D has been shown to increase strength and muscle mass. It increases testosterone, IGF-II and follistatin, and lowers myostatin. Or maybe a combination of more protein and vitamin D?

      I completely agree with you. About 40 grams/day of protein is about right for the average size person. 70 to 90 grams/protein/day can damage your kidneys because proteins are large molecules that the kidneys have to filter out. When you have kidney disease, physicians put you on a low protein diet to try to protect what's left of your kidney function. don't wait for kidney disease (CKD) to eat sufficient - but not too much - protein.
      The longest lived people on earth - the Okinawans - eat potatoes and vegetables and almost no meat. Potatoes and vegetables is a low protein diet.

      HIgh protein diets, over one's lifetime, can cause kidney disease. Kidney doctors will put you on a low protein diet to try to preserve what's left of your kidney function before you go on dialysis for kidney failure. A lifetime of high protein diets wears out your kidneys. The Okinawans - longest lived people on earth - eat potatoes and vegetables, do not suffer from protein deficiency. Read The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and The Starch Solution by John Mcdougall, MD.

    I’d be willing to bet that these plant vs animal protein studies did NOT look at whether the animals were grain fed or finished. Grain finished animal flesh is toxic compared to grass fed and hay finished animal flesh, as grains are high in omega6 fats. If they’d studied plant-based diets vs grass-fed and finished animal diets, and regeneratively farmed chickens, etc…the results would have been vastly different.

      …Also, vegetarians claim that they can get all their proteins from plants but that’s not true! Then they point out gorillas and cows that are vegetarians but they have multiple stomachs that make it possible!

    • @g.e.boroush5176
      @g.e.boroush5176 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Complete misinformation from this person. All beans/legumes have complete proteins. Beans/legumes are a great source of protein. But add to your diet gingerly if you've not eaten them for years or ever and let your microbiome adjust. Then eat plenty!
      The Okinawans - the longest lived people on earth - eat a diet of potatoes and vegetables with small amounts of meat (usually pork) when a pig is slaughtered only once per year. Animal protein of any sort is not necessary.
      Gorillas do NOT have multiple stomachs, cows do. Think of all of the large grazing animals on earth that eat plants all their lives: elephants, giraffes, buffalo, silverback gorillas, chimpanzees, hippopotamus', moose, deer & elk, rabbits, zebras, pigs, lambs, etc. They eat plants/grasses all their lives and are mammals just like humans. Chimpanzees are our closest genetic relatives and they eat vegetables and fruit all their lives with an occasional bits of termites. They get plenty of protein and calcium from vegetable matter to grow those gigantic bones and muscles. Interestingly, elephants never get cancer!

      Agree with you, cutting snacks, and all that crap that ppl eat and going back to ancient diet NORMAL FROM GROUND NATURAL FOODS is the best, he forgot about eggs, salmon is trash( from farms) our ancestors never painted in their caves any tough food, lettuce, brocoli, none of them! One good meal at day and some workouts will do the job!
