Most elderly people have problems getting up off the floor. As a child you spend a lot of time on the floor, adults do not.
Doing yoga / stretching exercises on the floor can improve balance, mobility, flexibility and the ability to get up and down..
Just getting up and down to the floor in a controlled manner is difficult for many older adults.
Play with your children on the floor. Bend over, get down and pull weeds in your garden. Play with a pet on the floor.
The more effort you make to work on balance and flexibility will pay dividends as you age.

@@KJSvitko yes absolutely 👍🏻… or do and keep doing things like riding bikes (and motorcycles!) ride a horse, climb, walk through woods where it’s not always a flat level path, all these use many different muscles for balance and also your core. I’m still doing these as much as before in my 50s and hope to well into my 70s (if I’m still alive 😁)

    Best summary I could do:
Eat foods which feeds gut flora which helps brain health
Ensure good deep (slow wave) sleep for brain to drain toxins
Avoid foods like coffee before sleep for above
Keep alcohol to special occasions only (ok in cooking)
Avoid high excessive carb diet leading to excess body Visceral fat leading to inflammation
Cut down ultraprocessed 'food' which damages gut flora. Additives, microplastics, trans fats
Reduce fried foods with acrylamides which are carcinogenic
Cut out soda and sugar sweetened beverages, including artificial sweeteners bad for gut flora
Some seafood contains mercury, especially large fish like tuna and swordfish. Eat lower on food chain eg sardines, mackerels

@@handlenot030 If you teach children early on how to eat well, often children can help parents to make better food choices. I have seen this with children asking their parents to please not smoke, after learning about the damage smoking does . AND, when they are adults they will be healthier for eating better and hopefully making better choices early on. The earlier they learn the better.

I think the distinction needs to be made between processed carbs and whole food carbs. People avoid the whole grains, veggies and fruits and opt for animal based foods. In doing this they are fiber deficient as well as lacking in polyphenols, nutrients and antioxidants. Beans are carbs but are a healthy whole food.

Excellent discussion; Alcohol, sometimes referred to by the chemical name ethanol, is one of the most widely consumed psychoactive drugs in the world and falls under the depressant category. Despite its effects, the alcohol industry maintains that "alcohol is not a drug".
Auto-brewery syndrome (ABS) is a rare condition that causes the body to produce alcohol through fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract, urinary system, or oral cavity. This condition is also known as gut fermentation syndrome.

I have a curiosity about China frozen fruits. The country where i live is close to China than Canada. Therefore i assume that frozen fruits from china like blueberries and strawberries are cheaper because of the proximity. But i have always avoided foods from China especially kimchi. As i work in a factory and i can see that the processing method is unsanitary (e.g. carrots not being washed and directly placed in the grinder, cabbages not soaked in water thus pesticides get mixed ). Yes, keep the fruit in the freezer for 3 days and the bugs die. But how about the nutrients? Has anyone made any studies on this?

But, in Eat To Beat Disease, there is a reference to research in Germany saying two beers were apparently beneficial to countering dementia… now it seems to be back to an occasional, single, glass of wine for celebration events. Which is correct?

Dr Li, l didnt hear you mention stevia among the sweetners that can damage one's microbiome. I had been using a stevia brand that has one ingredient-- the stevia powder and no other ingredients (unlike the other types that are obviously overprocessed and have several ingredients). Is there something about the way that the one-ingredient stevia is produced that makes it unhealthy too? Has it been studied?
