I flew from New Jersey (just next to New York) to Melbourne on the Air Canada 787 in business class. How was it? Watch this video to find out.
I’d been wanting to try Air Canada for many years and it has been one of the most requested airlines on this channel. So to say I was looking forward to this flight was an understatement - it was also the last leg home on a long, busy around-the-world work trip so that was another reason to look forward to it!
This Air Canada Business Class review covers the entire experience from airport check-in at Newark, through to the airport lounges in both Newark and Vancouver as well as boarding, take off, the Air Canada business class seat, inflight service, entertainment system, meals and amenities - I even test out the Air Canada signature drink and the business class lay flat bed! Join me, let’s experience it together.
Route: Newark (EWR) to Vancouver (YVR)
    Length: 2,426 miles, 5:11 hrs
    Flight: AC549 Seat 7K
Route: Vancouver (YVR) to Mebourne (MEL)
    Length: 8,211 miles, 15 hrs
    Flight: AC37 Seat 7A
    When: 17 Nov 2018
    Aircraft: Boeing 787-9 registration C-FRSI (Jan 2017)
    Camera: Panasonic HC-VX1

This video is a re-upload. Unfortunately I received false copyright claims on the original and TH-cam decided to believe the false claims. I am re-uploading because I don't want to let the bas***ds win! The claim was about the background music so I have changed all the music used on this video.

Air Canada has to have one of the best liveries out of any of the airlines which currently operate the 787 - Whether it's the classic Frosted Leaf or new Black and White livery, Air Canada's 787s always look very sharp! I'd love to fly with them one day :)

What a great review. I've been a follower of your reviews Dennis now for a while and I think they're great. Been early retired now for a few years and have been heading off on trips overseas but these days business class only. Worked too long and hard to now skimp in my retirement. I love your reviews and am planning to head back to NYC. Might check out the Canada Business Class from Sydney.

    14:38 BLOODY EXCELLENT
As a frequent traveller myself I love to repeat the announcements. When I fly out of Bangkok Suvarnabhumi in the morning I always remember “Final call for Bangkok Airways flight P G 1 2 1 to Samui please board at gate A7 immediately.” Funny enough I almost always end up boarding my flight at the gate next to A7, A8. I will always repeat the announcements having heard them so many times.

I haven’t flown Air Canada long haul since flying Canadian which AC bought from YVR to HKG years ago - have flown many times in domestic first from YYC to YVR to connect internationally to other carriers - for such a short flight from Calgary to Vancouver the service has always been great

  • @rebeccawiens4224
    @rebeccawiens4224 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

In my area (closest airport Calgary YYC), Air Canada has a bad reputation compared with the locally based West Jet. I just flew Air Canada economy from London (LHR) to Calgary (YYC) yesterday. The flight in general was good, but the crew was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the woman in front of me got air sick on the flight. Immediately after they pressed the call button, a flight attendant was there. Soon after, 3 flight attendants were there with gloves, plastic bags, and wet wipes. The flight attendant even gave her Anti sickness tablets to take if she wanted to. They checked on her later and made sure all was well.
I've never had so much food on a flight! A hot meal within an hour of takeoff, water and other drinks alternating hourly, a snack of ice cream (a flight first for me) with a cookie and bag of pretzels, and a hot pastry with a drink served an hour before landing. Entertainment system was excellent, other amenities were good. I think it was the best service I've experienced on any flight ever.
Other people may have a bias against them (and maybe they've gotten better over the years), but I'd be willing to take another flight with Air Canada any day.

I was lucky enough to fly with Canadian Airlines back in 1994 when was relocating the Sarnia Ontario to work on the construction of a rail tunnel under the St Clair River. Spent 15 months there the mid break back home was on BA, both were business class and I preferred Canadian. The flight from Gatwick was mid morning so a brunch was severed and a tea styled snack was on offer before landing, being British I picked the scones, jam/fresh strawberries and clotted cream, yummy. Shame their not around anymore I'd fly them just for the Tea time treat.

G'day Dennis, hello from the Dandenong Ranges. My last international flights were in July/August 2019 during a 'round the world' journey. Initially I flew Melbourne to London by a QF A380 to SIN then with a BA A380 to LHR. Four weeks later my first of three legs home were with Air Canada. Flt AC851 from LHR to Calgary in a B787-9, changing to an A320-200 on Flt AC227 to Vancouver then changed to AC37 to MEL in another B787-9 all flights in the rear cabins. I also strongly recommend the service of and the great friendliness of all the Air Canada staff. My last Heavy flight was on 15th Feb last year in a QF B747 on a domestic flight from SYD to MEL, also on that flight was Paul Stewart! I really enjoyed your review video and have just subscribed. Cheers from a damp day. Peter Stowell (aka Puf'n Pete')

    Your video is very enjoyable.
I have been to Argentina from Japan with the business class of Malaysia Airlines in 2004 and 2006.
At that time,it was the longest commercial flight in the world.
The route is Narita ⇔ Kuala Lumpur ⇔ Johannesburg ⇔ Cape Town ⇔ Buenos Aires.
It took about 35 hours. But I had to stay for 6 hours as the transit time in the KLIA .

hahaha! Somebody claimed that the background music I was using was theirs - despite the fact I use a professional editor who only uses licensed royalty free music services. Normally these types of claims are dismissed pretty quickly but for some reason TH-cam upheld this one. It basically means all the ad revenue on that video then goes to the person making the false claim. The TH-cam copyright dispute system seems pretty stuffed at the moment.

Like some of the reviewers pointed out, and also my personal experience in economy, premium economy and business class with air canada, their service in business class is definitely much better than the economy, so it doesn’t represent the overall quality of the service by air Canada. Unfortunately the business class fare for long haul flight to Australia from Canada has shot up quite dramatically over the last few years and now it’s out of reach for most people.

  • @anthonywatts2033

In my experience AC is one of airlines where provided nothing goes wrong they are a decent airline (in J, Y is appalling). However any sort of delay, malfunction, issue and the whole lot comes crashing down in a chaotic game of "not my fault, try X". Any ailine can competently fly someone from a to b. Its when the unexpected happens andnhow the airline copes that tells me how good that airline really is. AC has nailed not coping.

I love AC -- but I've never been that impressed with the food. I put up with it because they fly direct Brisbane to Vancouver and Business class is pretty reasonable. I think they need to change their chefs

@DennisBunnikTravels have you ever flown Delta? I’d be curious to see what you think and see a review! My husband is a pilot, so we have flown Delta One from Seattle to Tokyo Narita and really enjoyed it. For an American airline, I was impressed, but I’d be curious to see how it would compare to the ultra luxury airlines you’ve flown like Emirates, Etihad, etc.

HI Laura I'm flying Delta for the first time in July - doing Delta One on the A350 from Detroit to AMS. I've heard good things so really looking forward to it. cheers D

Which is the best airline to fly with to Slovenia in Business class

International Business I would suggest one of the Lufthansa Group.
Or Turkish Airlines might work as it’s not terribly far from Slovenia.

I've heard of others having problems with the copyright system on TH-cam. Seems a new way to make money off TH-cam is to randomly tag copyright breaches and divert the revenue stream to them.

    • @felixsoheili1154

Asian Airlines have substantial government funding whereas Air Canada is 49% private international shareholders/exec pay vs 52% Canadian Public Trade

How is the availability of Air Canada? Which program do you prefer, Lifemiles or Aeroplan? Thanks!

    • @felixsoheili8558

Areoplan rarely has availability on Business Class for Air Canada but a lot on Lufthansa, Brussels, Air New Zealand and if you have the points Singapore

Dennis give Air Canada Rouge à try in basic economy as that is what Air. Anaya truly uses for 99% of their North American Caribbean as well as European flights Then give Air Canada the same revue ( consider this a dare for when things go back to “ normal” )

DennisBunnik Travels it’s quite prevalent in US airline lounges. In UA Club it’s almost a requirement to leave a tip for drinks at the lounge bar. Some even ask for it after bringing you a beer ...

Hahaha it's a close to accurate description. 'Basic but adequate' is kind if you ask me - even their maple leaf lounges in the Canadian hubs are quite stingy on providing any quality food.
